I don't know how many times I have now attended, but during my first visit, I was walking the halls hoping to speak to publishers about my blog and praying that I might get a review copy or two. I attended for a single day, driving up all the way and back again by myself, trying to cram it all on. That's all changed over the years. So let me tell you my plans for UK Games Expo 2025.Read the full topic discussion article here: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2025/05/20/uk-games-expo-2025-looking-ahead-saturday-review/Useful LinksUK Games Expo: https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/Amosdee UK: https://www.asmodee.co.uk/£1,000 Giveaway: https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/whats-on/show/1000-giveaway/Asmodee UK Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AsmodeeUKAtikin Games: https://atikingames.com/Malus Hortus review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2025/04/05/malus-hortus-saturday-review/Stuff by Bez: https://www.stuffbybez.com/Dissent Game: https://dissentgames.com/Naylor Games: https://naylorgames.com/Unfringed: https://unfringed.co/Oink Games: https://oinkgames.com/en/Dranda Games: https://www.drandagames.co.uk/Osprey Games: https://www.ospreypublishing.com/uk/osprey-games/Ofrenda review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2025/05/10/ofrenda-saturday-review/Red Raven Games: https://www.redravengames.com/Hachette Boardgames UK: https://www.hachetteboardgames.co.uk/Paper Forg Games: https://www.paperfortgames.com/Play With Us Design (PWUD): https://pwud.ga/Playte: https://www.playte.com/Pueblo review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2025/03/22/pueblo-saturday-review/Ravensburger: https://www.ravensburger.co.uk/en-GBKosmos: https://www.thamesandkosmos.co.uk/MusicIntro Music: Bomber (Sting) by Riot (https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/)Music: "oct 8 2021" provided by mobygratis.SupportIf you want to support this podcast financially, please check out the links below:Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/TabletopGamesBlogPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/tabletopgamesblogWebsite: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/support/

Tucked away near Gleisdreieck in Berlin's Kreuzberg district is STATION-Berlin, home to the German capital's main board game convention Berlin Brettspiel Con. For three days in July, hordes of tabletop hobby enthusiasts converge to play games, speak to the dozens of exhibitors and generally have a great time. For the first time, I'll be among them and I can't wait. I'll be attending as a member of the press and have made a short list of whom I want to talk to. The gallery was packed. People were chatting, holding glasses of champagne or plates with little aperitifs. Some of the attendees agitatedly pointed at artworks, clearly moved by what they were seeing. The gallerist had picked the artists and their artwork according to a common theme. Everything worked harmoniously together, except maybe one or two pieces, which were slightly at odds with everything else on display. They seemed a bit vague. It was as if, among the list of creators in the exhibition, there was A Fake Artist Goes to New York by Jun Sasaki from Oink Games. 00:12 - The creation of “Bubble Boyz presents The Staying In Podcast presents Hot Tub the game”... or something... we should probably come up with a better name at some point. 12:10 - Going ape at Go Ape. 19:24 - Oink Games' In a Grove is all about solving a murder using deduction, prediction, and a spot of luck, in a tiny little box with wonderful component quality. 27:00 - Need more murder? In Vino Morte is a rioja roulette of social deduction, with wine, poison, and lots of bluffing. 31:20 - The Orville: New Horizons took us completely by surprise! Seth MacFarlane's previous work is a world away from this sci-fi comedy with heart. 41:02 - Big Potato Games delivers yet again with Sounds Fishy. A brand new greenfield site was ready for development. The architects had submitted their drawings and the planners were satisfied that everything was in order. Finally, the baton of ringmaster has been passed to you. Your predecessor has been in the job for many decades, but now it's your turn. Multi-Deck System Games! Canadian content! Kevin Bacon! So many digressions in an episode packed with so much culture it couldn't even fit in one of Vin Diesel's muscle shirts. We do, however, focus on games long enough to rhetorically ask--with several stress patterns--of David Thompson: who is this guy? As a note, during the time of the taping of this episode, David Thompson released five more excellent board games. Oh, sorry, I type slowly, make that six. 01:23 AYURIS: Fort (Grant Rodiek, Leder Games, 2020)Games Played Last Week:03:36 -Contra: The Board Game (Adam Sadler & Brady Sadler, Blacklist Games, 2022)08:23 -Hour of Need (Adam Sadler & Brady Sadler, Blacklist Games, 2022) 13:58 -Paint the Roses (Ben Goldman, North Star Games, 2022)17:41 -Sniper Elite: The Board Game (Roger Tankersly & David Thompson, Rebellion Unplugged, 2022)24:31 -SCOUT (Kei Kajino, Oink Games, 2019)26:48 -Hidden Leaders (Andreas Müller, Markus Müller, & Raphael Stocker, BFF Games, 2022) 30:09 -Foundations of Rome (Emerson Matsuuichi, Arcane Wonders, 2022)34:18 -Stroganov (Andreas Steding, Game Brewer, 2021)37:44 -burncycle (Josh J. Let us not, as the saying goes, hold the perfect in opposition to the good. We here at SVWAG always encourage the lowering of standards, which the hosts tend to do by their very presences--dragging down the average of any group of which they are a part. We offer but a portion of an episode, but let us be optimists and observe that that allows us to be less wrong.01:34 AYURIS: Versailles 1919 (Geoff Engelstein & Mark Herman, GMT Games, 2020)Games Played Last Week:05:42 -Creature Comforts (Roberta Taylor, Kids Table BG, 2022)10:18 -IKI (Koota Yamada, Sorry We Are French, 2015)14:24 -The Red Cathedral (Israel Cendrero & Sheila Santos, Devir Games, 2020)18:45 -Switch & Signal (David Thompson, KOSMOS, 2020)22:55 -Core Worlds (Andrew Parks, Stronghold, 2011)26:08 -SCOUT (Kei Kajino, Oink Games, 2019)28:50 -Dinosaur Island: Rawr 'n Write (Brian Lewis, David McGregor, & Marissa Misura, Pandasaurus Games, 2021)31:16 -Just One (Ludovic Roudy & Bruno Sautter, Repos Production, 2018)33:30 -Brass: Birmingham (Gavan Brown, Matt Tolman, & Martin Wallace, Roxley, 2018)36:40 -Uprising: Curse of the Last Emperor (Cornelius Cremin, Pawel Mazur, & Dirk Sommer, Nemesis.Games, 2021)38:33 -Clinic Deluxe Edition (Alban Viard, AVStudioGames, 2019)News (and why it doesn't matter):40:43 Pathways: Canadian dexterity game on Kickstarter41:25 Come see Warmboy's website sowronggames.com! This week we take a... deeper look at a game that we love: Deep Sea Adventure from Oink Games. Deep Sea Adventure is a small box game done right, in our opinion, so come and hear us wax lyrical about it. Especially David - that guy should just marry this game already!Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/backoftheshelfpodcast)
Welcome to episode 24 of The Last Standee Podcast! After the usual catch-up, where we learn about the uprising from Cara and her "trusted students" (0:56), Fen tries the (impossible) feat of reviewing six very cool Oink games in six minutes (11:08), and right after that (23:59, not exactly six minutes) the team has a brief chat about the nefarious events that keep popping up this Summer. To continue up with figurative, literary monsters, Alessio gives us a quick review of Arkham Horror: Final Hour (36:00), then Cara keeps up (and much more) with Unsettled(60:31).
Jon's back to review the latest games from Oink Games and Devolver Digital (Tiger Trio's Tasty Travels and Essays on Empathy, respectively), plus some more chat about Blue Fire, There Is No Game and Snow Runner.SUPPORT US ON PATREONALL THE SMALL GAMES ON FACEBOOKFOLLOW US ON TWITTERTWITTER: LEVINS / JONINSTAGRAM: LEVINS / JONEMAIL: ALLTHESMALLGAMES@GMAIL.COM-All The Small Games is a podcast about indie games, hosted by Andrew Levins and Jon Valenzuela. Jon's back for a massive episode about some games he's been playing with a baby on his lap, and some games that Levins has been playing without a baby on his lap.Btw, Jon's mic wigged out and recorded his audio crazy loud. We tried to smooth it out as best as we could but we know this episode doesn't sound as good as our other episodes usually do! On episode #58 Bruce is joined by Mike, Rocki, Chris, Marueen, Bryan, Don and Michele to talk about the "new hotness" games A Fake Artist Goes to New York (from Oink Games) and Pingo Pingo (from Iello). A rare case where we play games that are getting some buzz. What the Food!?! The gang talks about Janes Krazy Mixed Up Popcorn and Snyders of Hanovers Chile Lime Korn Krunchers. We also take calls, and do a special What the Food, but you really have to listen to find out about that. Thanks for listening, and let us know what you think!
