Six segments. Four legendary movie podcasters. Three and a half hours of keeping David Sims away from his family. Welcome to our Ballad of Buster Scruggs episode! How Did This Get Made's Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas join the Two Friends to talk about the Coens' final film together (as of this recording), a grab bag of western vignettes that could have been titled “A Million Ways to Die in the West” if Seth MacFarlane hadn't already claimed it. We're picking our favorite segments, chatting about the “wild west” of Netflix projects back when Scruggs was greenlit, and ranking the Coens' filmography before we cover their solo directorial efforts. Have you ever wondered how close you've come to not existing? In this captivating episode, host Max reveals a shocking family secret - he was originally booked to stay at the Thredbo lodge that was destroyed in the devastating 1997 landslide that killed 18 people. His family changed their booking just weeks before the disaster, unknowingly saving their lives. This near-miss revelation prompts a fascinating discussion about how close calls shape our perspective on life and the strange twists of fate that determine our existence. Hayley & Max explore other famous near-misses, including "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane who was scheduled to be on one of the 9/11 flights but missed it. The conversation invites listeners to reflect on their own "I shouldn't be here right now" moments and how these realizations might change how we approach life.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted, American Dad!) is a man of many voices. For more than 25 years, he's voiced Peter and Stewie Griffin, Brian the dog, and their neighbour Quagmire on “Family Guy,” the adult animated sitcom he created back in 1999. But when Seth's not recording a character for TV and film, he's recording music. Now, the five-time Grammy-nominated vocalist is back with his ninth album, "Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements.” Seth joins Tom Power to talk about finding a treasure trove of unrecorded Sinatra songs, learning how to sing like Sinatra, and how he feels about the situation between Jimmy Kimmel and the FCC.Fill out our listener survey here. We appreciate your input!
On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got a pair of singers who both look to classic sounds for inspiration—and one of whom happens to also be the creator of one of the biggest animated shows ever. It's Liz Gillies and Seth MacFarlane. Now even if you don't know his name, you almost certainly know Seth MacFarlane's work and voice. He's the creator of the animated comedy Family Guy, which will enter its 24th season next year. He also co-created American Dad and The Cleveland Show, plus directed the movie Ted, among many other TV and film accomplishments. If that weren't enough, MacFarlane has a second career as a musician, a pursuit born out of his love for big band music of days gone by: It's not a lark or a joke, either. MacFarlane is a serious student of classic songwriters, which led to his tenth and latest album, Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements. As that title suggests, MacFarlane was given access to a massive number of songs that had been arranged—often by big names—for Frank Sinatra to sing, but that had never actually been recorded. MacFarlane recruited an A-team to get them in shape, and he sang the hell out of them. Check out “I Never Felt This Way Before” right here. The other half of today's conversation is MacFarlane's friend and sometime musical collaborator Liz Gillies, who's also a multi-hyphenate. You may have seen her on TV—going all the way back to Nickelodeon—in movies or on Broadway. She even provided voices on a couple of MacFarlane's shows. But the two really found their working spark during the pandemic with Songs From Home, and that collaboration continued in 2023 with a holiday album called We Wish You The Merriest. As you'll see from this conversation, Gillies and MacFarlane have a friendly rapport. In this lively conversation, Gillies grills MacFarlane on the origins of Lush Life, a fascinating story in which MacFarlane is deeply invested. They also talk about how Liz likes to go out when they're on tour but Seth prefers the comfort of a hotel room, how to pronounce Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and more. Stick around for the end, when they get a little silly coming up with podcast names. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Seth MacFarlane and Liz Gillies for chatting. Tim Davis is an acclaimed studio singer, producer and arranger for film, TV and recordings. To quote his Bio: “If you've been to a Disney theme park, played a video game, bought a pop album, seen a tv show, commercial or film in the last 20 or 30 years, you've probably heard Tim's voice, or one of his vocal arrangements, delivered by some of the world's best singers.” Six seasons of the show “Glee”, and Lady Gaga's 2017 Super Bowl Halftime show. He's recently been named music producer for The People's Choice Awards and a new feature film musical. He's done projects with Josh Groban and Seth MacFarlane. He sings with Jane Lynch. My guest on the show today is Matt Dinniman, author of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, which is seven books into a projected 10 volume run.I happened upon the book when I was trawling Kindle unlimited for science fiction to read. It kept recommending it to me, and I kept resisting, because it was hard to take seriously a novel called Dungeon Crawler Carl. Finally I gave it a try, and literally within about three weeks I'd burned through all seven novels in the series, each of which runs around 600 pages or more. They are a blast: hilarious, absurd, propulsively plotted, just an immense amount of fun. Matt and I talk about the series, which was initially self-published but has now been re-issued by a big commercial publisher and is being adapted for television by Seth MacFarlane. We talk about his career prior to the recent success, when he mostly made his money by painting cats and dogs. We talk about changes in the publishing industry, and more. I enjoyed talking to Matt, who is precisely the kind of person you want enjoying this kind of unexpected mid life success. This is a public episode. 0:00:00–0:15:00 — Live intro, celeb 9/11 near-miss chatter, and a “haunted” vending machine We kick off live and riff on the lore that Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane “conveniently” didn't get on a 9/11 flight — “lucky guys,” then: “let's get this dooming going.” First Video of the Day: the “haunted vending machine” dispensing retro sodas (Texas Red, New Coke, Russian Pepsi), unlabeled buttons that all read “mystery,” and a 2018 disappearance with a note: “went for a walk.” 0:15:00–0:30:00 — Wheel drama, pepper-spray role-play, and “Einstein's wife” The wheel gives us zero points and we riff on the scoring. Sam runs a pepper-spray mugging role-play: “If I'm a robber… let's role play.” Hot take detour: “Einstein's wife wrote everything,” plus more headline-surfing. 0:30:00–0:45:00 — Eden as a “human zoo,” geoengineering clip, and Pinocchio as programming We chew on a theory that Gan/Paradeisos (Eden) was a controlled enclosure — a literal fenced compound. A geoengineering quick-hit claims nano-aluminum exposure — and the chat starts buzzing. Then a wild breakdown of Pinocchio as an esoteric “conditioning manual.” 0:45:00–1:00:00 — Quantum eraser brain-melt and the Max Headroom hijack The delayed-choice quantum eraser: change the which-path info after detection and you flip the pattern — “it knows the future.” Caller segment: the 1987 Chicago Max Headroom TV hijack — pirate transmitters, radio-school lore, and a mysterious “Zapruder frequency” email. Theory time: it may've piggybacked a Cold-War emergency visual channel. 1:00:00–1:15:00 — Reincarnation receipts and what it does to a kid We retell the “Soul Survivor” case: Natoma Bay, pilot James M. Houston Jr., and the book that followed. Then we sit with the human side — night terrors and the idea we “keep doing it over until we get it right.” 1:15:00–1:30:00 — Skinwalker doom-camping to close Final clip: a guy taunts a Skinwalker, hears cries outside his tent, and… goes deeper into the cursed forest (of course). He stumbles on eerie figurines and crosses hanging from trees; the dread spikes. On this episode of The Adam Carolla Show, comedian Dana Gould joins Adam in the studio! Adam praises Dana for being one of the few comics beloved across the board before diving into his legendary career writing for The Simpsons and Seth MacFarlane's Ted. Dana reflects on his love for writing, the different career paths he could have taken, and how the “hero's journey” became the template for nearly every Hollywood movie. The two share their admiration for Albert Brooks and the classic film Defending Your Life, reminisce about old favorites like Smokey and the Bandit, and even discuss the sad sight of abandoned buildings scattered across the desert on the drive to Vegas. Dana also discusses his conscious decision to be extra polite in traffic and the reasons behind it. Later, Adam explains why he regularly blows through red left-turn arrows, makes the case for why the laws around them are ridiculous, and tells the story of running a red on PCH right next to a fire truck full of firefighters. That sparks a bigger conversation about people's inverted relationships with rules and authority, as Adam and Dana break down how modern culture often treats common sense like a liability. Along the way, they explore how shifts in comedy, film, and everyday life reflect broader changes in society, giving the episode a mix of humor, nostalgia, and sharp social commentary.Get it on.FOR MORE WITH DANA GOULD: SHOW: Hanging With Doctor Z - Live in person and live streamed - LOS ANGELES - Dynasty Typewriter - September 7thWEBSITE: DanaGould.comPODCAST: The Dana Gould HourINSTAGRAM: @danagouldSPECIAL: Perfectly Normal - on YouTubeThank you for supporting our sponsors:BetOnlineHomeChef.com/ADAMhomes.comoreillyauto.com/ADAMRosettastone.com/ADAMPluto.tvThriveMarket.com/ACSLIVE SHOWS: August 29 - Provo, UTAugust 31 - Torrance, CASeptember 6 - Charlotte, NCSeptember 12-13 - El Paso, TX (4 Shows)See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Not just that, his youth also witnessed a stint to perform with jazz icon Chico Hamilton's band, a worldwide tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and participation in the Tony-award-winning "best musical" "Memphis" written by Bon Jovi's keyboardist, David Bryan. A proud alumnus of the Berklee College of Music, where he honed his skills under the guidance of trombone maestros including the illustrious Phil Wilson, Paul's journey came full circle when he reunited with Wilson to craft a successful video series, a project he cherishes dearly. This reunion bore the genesis of "Bone Masters," a pioneering internet show helmed by Paul, wherein he engages with living legends of the trombone world, orchestrating masterclasses and interviews, thereby creating the most expansive educational video library dedicated to the trombone. Directed by Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping), this is a a 21st Century relaunch of the crime spoof franchise which kicked off in 1988 with the original "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!" which starred the late, great Leslie Neilsen as Lt. Frank Drebin. Well the mantle has now been passed to Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Darkman, Taken) who plays his son, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. This time around, he has his own crimes to solve kicking off with the murder of the brother of the mysterious Beth Davenport played by Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl, Barb Wire, Baywatch). Furthermore, the prime suspect MIGHT be tech billionaire Richard Cane played by Danny Huston (The Constant Gardener, Wonder Woman, Children of Men). And hilarity ensues? Let's find out if this latest reboot can bring the funny as well as the original.... Send us a textRemember The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad? We thought it was hilarious when we were kids. However, we also watched Pee-wee's Playhouse regularly and got excited when Knight Rider came on. So what did we know? We have some predictions. One, it might be a tad offensive, and two, it might be a little 80s-centric, which is okay with us. So join us as we go back to 1988 and watch Leslie Neilson and O.J. Simpson in The Naked Gun.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

We present our review of The Naked Gun 2025!The Naked Gun is a 2025 American crime action comedy film directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Schaffer, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. The fourth film in The Naked Gun franchise, it stars Liam Neeson in the main role, with Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston starring in supporting roles. It follows the son of Lt. Frank Drebin who must succeed in his father's footsteps to prevent the closure of Police Squad.A fourth The Naked Gun film was originally announced in 2009, as a direct-to-TV sequel starring Leslie Nielsen. However, the film languished several years of development, including being redeveloped as a reboot starring Ed Helms in 2013. It was later officially announced in January 2021 that Seth MacFarlane had been hired to develop the project, and he expressed interest in casting Neeson in the main role. Although MacFarlane was hired to direct, Schaffer replaced him after the film was greenlit in October 2022, and Neeson was officially cast in the main role. Anderson was cast in April 2024, and further casting took place the following month. Filming began in Atlanta that month and wrapped in June. The Naked Gun premiered at the SVA Theater in Manhattan on July 28, 2025, and was released in the United States and United Kingdom by Paramount Pictures on August 1, 2025. The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $28.3 million worldwide against a $42 million budget.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

What if the Chairman of the Board's biggest contribution to music wasn't his voice, but the blueprint he created for modern pop stardom? Frank Sinatra didn't just sing songs: he invented the concept album, injected his full personality into every performance, and created a template for artistic control that today's biggest stars still follow. His influence runs deeper than you think: Amy Winehouse titled her debut Frank as tribute, Jay-Z calls himself "the new Sinatra," and Frank Ocean borrowed his name from both Sinatra and Ocean's Eleven. That influence extends to unexpected places too: Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, has been championing Sinatra's orchestral style for years, and through his friendship with the Sinatra family gained access to over 1,200 boxes of never-recorded arrangements. His new album Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements features songs that arranged for Sinatra but never performed, uncovering musical treasures that reveal new insights into how the Chairman of the Board's innovations still shape the sound of pop music today.
