Eddin Khoo is a journalist, historian, author and poet. But perhaps his biggest contribution to society is his tireless work in protecting Malaysia's traditional performing arts like the Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong, through his cultural organisation, Pusaka.  He rightly points out that Malaysia is a cosmopolis of races, cultures and traditions with a history older than most countries in the region.  But its importance has been systematically erased in the interests of political self-preservation.  This is his story, in his own words.  (Many thanks to the Asia School of Business for their collaboration with The Do More Podcast, in whose studio this conversation was recorded. The Asia School of Business is a partnership between MIT's Sloan School of Management and Bank Negara Malaysia). Would it surprise you to know that the reason for this annual historic event is the same reason we do many other things? Be sure to Like and Follow us on our facebook page. Check out our website www.LikeItMatters.Net. If you have ever looked at groups, associations, or “gangs' and wondered why then today's podcast will be of great value. There are basic needs that everybody has and one of them is the need to belong. When we seek first to understand, then be understood- it opens a world, others' worlds up to us. We live in a world that wants you to focus on our differences, but today let us focus on the similarities that we all have. Have you ever asked, “Why Sturgis”? Mr. Black has, so Mr. Black did some research, and it seems to be a basic need of all of us, and it comes down to; Belonging. Today's show was recorded in Sturgis at the 82nd annual Motorcycle rally. Intentional Marriage and Parenting with Drew and Sara Anthony   Psalm 16:11 (NIV) "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."   Drew and Sara Anthony will celebrate 28 years of marriage this year. They have 4 children ranging in age from 16-24. In addition, they run a house flipping business together. Drew and Sara recently discovered a passion for sailing. They combined their love for sailing and heart for helping strengthen marriages by leading marriage sailing adventures. They've seen God at work throughout their whole marriage and for that they are so grateful.    Questions and Topics We Discuss:   Were there any traditions or habits you established as an engaged or newlywed couple that set you up for success? As you reflect back, what are some things you did during the season of raising little children that you now see the payoff as they are becoming adults? Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.”   Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”   Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“   Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“   Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

What's beautiful about the situation of moving past and through COVID is that, again, everybody is expectant to change.  And quite frankly, if you're a leader who doesn't change, I mean, shame on you.  How could you not go through what we've just gone through and not lead differently?  Right?  Your people want you to.  They're ready for you to.  It's just such a perfect opportunity to put a stake in the ground and be like, what do I want to be remembered for?  Who do I want to serve?  How do I want to be?  What is the legacy I'll want to be?  And to start to make that shift.  And if it seems daunting, then you go back to those micro goals. ...but now is the time, because what you will not regret are making the changes. WENDY GROUNDS:  Doreen Linneman is a keynote speaker, she focuses on management consulting, professional development team building.  She really takes leadership and professional development out of the boardroom and into nature, doesn't she. BILL YATES:  Yes, she does.  That's an understatement.  She's got three companies that she started, and one's called Prepare to Roar.  We'll hear more about that.  But that involves taking leaders out of the boardroom, out of the conference rooms and  all the coffee and doughnuts, and putting them in nature and having them face some of their biggest fears, like these gorillas or sharks or different things like that....
