Today we get a German lesson from one hit wonder, Little Peggy March. Peggy came into the WOKY studios with her one hit “I Will Follow Him.” She recorded that song in German and a few other languages. It was a number one hit in the U.S. and many other countries. At 15 years old, Peggy became the youngest female artist to ever hit the top of the Billboard charts in the United States. Our German speaking engineer, Paul Leser, had quite a conversation with her, some of which you will hear. Her career got derailed by the British invasion in 1964 and her manager ran off with her earnings leaving her with $500. Little Peggy March got her nickname because she was 4 feet, 10 inches tall. I asked her how she started singing in German.

Peggy March (* 8. März 1948 in Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania) ist eine US-amerikanische Pop- und Schlagersängerin sowie Liedtexterin. In den USA wurde sie 1963 durch ihren Nummer-eins-Hit "I Will Follow Him" berühmt. In den 1960er- und 1970er-Jahren war sie in Deutschland als Schlagersängerin mit Liedern wie Mit 17 hat man noch Träume sehr erfolgreich. Aber auch mit 70 hat man noch Träume, wie sie mir in einem Interview im Europa Park bei der Sendung "immer wieder sonntags" verraten hatte. - Im Herbst geht sie schon zum dritten mal mit u.a. Michael Holm und Ireen Sheer auf Schlagerlegenden Tournee. Die Tournee führt in 13 Städte und Peggy fühlt sich dabei noch recht fit. Wenn es die Zeit erlaubt genießt sie jede Stadt wie ein Tourist. - Während ihres Aufenthalts in Deutschland lebt sie in ihrer Wahlheimat München.
