Immer mehr KI-generierte Songs werden täglich auf Streaming-Plattformen hochgeladen. Beim Streaming-Dienst Deezer betrifft das fast die Hälfte der täglichen Uploads — das sind mehr als 2 Millionen KI-generierte Titel pro Monat. Einige von ihnen waren zuletzt in den US Charts. Unsere Kölncampus-Reporterin Pia hat sich mal genauer damit beschäftigt, was dieser Boom für Menschen bedeutet, die beruflich Musik machen.

Der Titel hat eindeutig Ohrwurmqualitäten. Er ist auf dem Debutalbum von Rickie Lee Jones veröffentlicht und kletterte auf Platz 4 der US Charts. Besonders die klare, frische Stimme von Rickie Lee Jones begeistert das Publikum bis heute. Jahrelang war die Songwriterin in diversen Clubs von Los Angeles aufgetreten und deshalb gut vernetzt in der Szene. Auf dem Album sind deshalb bekannte Namen zu lesen wie Steve Gadd oder Dr. John.

"So" gehört nicht nur zu den erfolgreichsten Alben von Peter Gabriel, sondern ist auch noch ein Meisterwerk der 80er Jahre. Es erschien am 19. Mai 1986 und verkaufte sich über zehn Millionen Mal. Auch einige seiner größten Hits wie "Sledgehammer", "In Your Eyes" oder "Don't Give Up" sind auf dem Album vertreten. Nach seiner Zeit bei Genesis arbeitete Peter Gabriel 1976 an seiner Solo-Karriere. Bereits 1977 erscheint mit "Peter Gabriel" sein erstes Solo-Album. Auch die drei folgenden Alben tragen denselben Titel, was in den Plattenläden immer wieder für Verwirrung sorgte. Erst mit seinem fünften Album "So" veröffentlichte er erstmals ein Album mit einem anderen Namen. Der Titel "So" klingt zunächst eher minimalistisch. Musikalisch verbindet das Album jedoch Artrock, Soul, R'n'B, Pop, Progressive Rock und Weltmusik zu einem vielseitigen Sound. Peter Gabriel setzt dabei auf die damals noch relativ neuen Synthesizer-Klänge und nutzt moderne Studiotechnik. Für die Produktion arbeitet er mit Daniel Lanois, der zusammen mit Toningenieur Kevin Killen das Album entscheidend prägt. "Sledgehammer" wurde zum größten Hit von Peter Gabriel und war zugleich sein erster Nummer-eins-Hit in den USA. Im Juli 1986 verdrängte der Song "Invisible Touch" von Gabriels früherer Band Genesis von der Spitze der US-Charts. Musikalisch orientiert sich "Sledgehammer" an Soulmusik der 1960er Jahre. Besonders der Einfluss von Otis Redding ist deutlich zu hören, dessen Musik Gabriel auch stark geprägt hat. Bei einem Auftritt von Redding entdeckte er 1966 den Trompeter Wayne Jackson, der später die markanten Bläser auf "Sledgehammer" einspielte. "Don't Give Up" ist das legendäre Duett von Peter Gabriel und Kate Bush. Der Song wurde für viele Menschen zu einer wichtigen Quelle der Hoffnung. Elton John sagte, das Lied habe ihm geholfen, seine Alkoholprobleme zu überwinden. Auch ein bekannter US-Komiker erzählte Gabriel, der Song habe ihm in einer schwierigen Zeit das Leben gerettet. Mit "So" hat Peter Gabriel ein Album veröffentlicht, das die Musik der 80er Jahre weit über seine Entstehungszeit hinaus geprägt hat. Obwohl es mit Erscheinen dieser Meilensteine-Episode seinen 40. Geburtstag feiert, klingt es noch erstaunlich modern und aktuell. Taylor Swifts Album "1989" ist ein absoluter Wendepunkt in ihrer Karriere – mit der Veröffentlichung im Oktober 2014 verabschiedet sie sich von ihren Country-Wurzeln und präsentiert sich als Pop-Ikone einer neuen Generation. "1989" ist benannt nach Taylor Swifts Geburtsjahr und signalisiert nicht nur einen persönlichen, sondern auch einen musikalischen Neuanfang. Nachdem Swift im Jahr 2013 für ihr viertes Album "Red" keinen Grammy gewonnen hatte, beschloss sie, sich musikalisch neu auszurichten. Weg von dem Mix aus Pop und Country, hin zu 80s-Synth-Pop, ohne auf ein Plattenlabel hören zu müssen. Deshalb geht es in dieser Folge auch um das Verhältnis der einzelnen Teile in dieser Welt zueinander. Welche Muster bestimmen da unser Denken? Im Podcast dabei ist das Kollektiv Decolonize Theology, es wurde 2020 an der Uni Hamburg gegründet, damals waren alle noch Studis, inzwischen sind einige im wissenschaftlichen oder kirchlichen Bereich tätig.  Es lohnt sich mit Theologien von überall zu beschäftigen, ich finde in vielen ist die revolutionäre Kraft des Glaubens viel erlebbarer, als in deutscher Theologie, die manchmal sehr verwaltet und vorsichtig daher kommt – so Musik von woanders, die irgendwie neu und anders ist uns begeistert und den Horizont erweitert – kann das vielleicht auch die Theologie von dort schaffen. Wichtig ist aber hier ein Austausch auf Augenhöhe – dafür hat Manu Dibango in der Musik gekämpft. Manu Dibango stand in der Musik für Begegnung und Austausch, er war dafür, dass viele Musikstile kombiniert werden können, wenn respektvoll und auf Augenhöhe miteinander umgegangen wird. Dadurch entsteht bei Manu Dibangos Musik eine ganz besondere Form von guter Laune. Was er jedoch nicht wollte war, dass sich die westliche mächtige Musikindustrie einfach bei ihm und anderen Musiker*innen bedienen, ohne für die künstlerische Leistung zu bezahlen. So sorgte er dafür, dass Michael Jackson und Rhianna ordentlich bezahlten – um welche Songs es da geht hört ihr im Podcast oder seht es schon vorher in meiner Spotify Playlist. Musa Dube und Manu Dibango treten für Gleichheit aller Menschen ein und dafür, dass alte Machtstrukturen nicht immer weiter Menschen ausbeuten und krank machen. Manchmal wird das Denken von Menschen außerhalb von Europa von uns gar nicht wahrgenommen, weil wir uns für schlauer halten. In den Lehrplänen tauchen dann vor allem weiße tote Männer auf – und um da etwas frischen Wind reinzubringen reden wir im Podcast über Musa Dube. Musa Dubes Anleitungen zum Umgang mit biblischenTexten kreisen immer um die Frage, wer hat die Kontrolle über das Land und die Ressourcen. Für die Wissenschaftlerin muss aus dem Umgang mit den Texten eine konkrete Veränderung der Lebensverhältnisse erwachsen. On the 30th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1991 album "Use Your Illusion II" by Guns N' Roses. This was GNR's 4th studio album and was released simultaneously with Use Your Illusion I on September 17, 1991. This was a monumental moment in rock history as both albums shot straight to the top of charts. Use Your Illusion II debuted at Number 1 on the US Charts and would eventually go 7x Platinum. Fans of GNR crowded record stores to buy the most anticipated album releases in years. Use Your Illusion II boasted songs that were familiar to their fans, like Civil War, You Could Be Mine and Knockin' On Heaven's Door. The band had made some changes as well, adding keyboard player, Dizzy Reed to make it a 6 man unit and substituting Steven Adler (drugs) with Matt Sorum. The album was a purposeful departure from their landmark debut, Appetite For Destruction. Songs became longer, more thought out lyrics and themes were explored in their songwriting, especially by Axl Rose. The album still boasted Slash's amazing guitar work which was a highlight on this album. Songs were also sung by Izzy & Duff as well. All the bandmates contributed songs and lyrics, which gave the album a great variety of music styles and influences. This was Zeus' pick and he and Tom described how this album impacted Freshman year at Stonehill College for them both. Guns N' Roses is also the first band to have a second album on ARC, with the guys having reviewed Appetite For Destruction on the first episode of The Album Review Crew. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the cover against the previous 28 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. It might take you 14 years to get through this episode, but don't cry because when you hear where someone ranks this album you will want them to Get In The Ring!!! PUNK! On the 30th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1991 album "Use Your Illusion II" by Guns N' Roses.This was GNR's 4th studio album and was released simultaneously with Use Your Illusion I on September 17, 1991. This was a monumental moment in rock history as both albums shot straight to the top of charts. Use Your Illusion II debuted at Number 1 on the US Charts and would eventually go 7x Platinum.Fans of GNR crowded record stores to buy the most anticipated album releases in years. Use Your Illusion II boasted songs that were familiar to their fans, like Civil War, You Could Be Mine and Knockin' On Heaven's Door.The band had made some changes as well, adding keyboard player, Dizzy Reed to make it a 6 man unit and substituting Steven Adler (drugs) with Matt Sorum.The album was a purposeful departure from their landmark debut, Appetite For Destruction. Songs became longer, more thought out lyrics and themes were explored in their songwriting, especially by Axl Rose. The album still boasted Slash's amazing guitar work which was a highlight on this album. Songs were also sung by Izzy & Duff as well. All the bandmates contributed songs and lyrics, which gave the album a great variety of music styles and influences.This was Zeus' pick and he and Tom described how this album impacted Freshman year at Stonehill College for them both. Guns N' Roses is also the first band to have a second album on ARC, with the guys having reviewed Appetite For Destruction on the first episode of The Album Review Crew.As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. Bis zum Jahr 1979 schlug sich Chrissie Hynde als Studiomusikerin und Bandmitglied verschiedener Formationen durch. Der Traum, eine große Rockmusikerin zu werden, ging für Chrissie Hynde endlich in Erfüllung. Bis heute veröffentlicht die inzwischen 70-jährige US-Amerikanerin erfolgreich Alben.

Falco - mit Anzug, gegeltem Haar und hochgezogener Augenbraue fasziniert er in den 1980er Jahren seine Fans. Mit Songs wie "Der Kommissar" und "Junge Römer" wird er weltweit zum Star. Sein größter Hit "Rock me Amadeus" erreicht als einziges deutschsprachiges Lied die Spitze der US-Charts. Am 19. Februar vor 65 Jahren wird Falco alias Hans Hölzel in Wien geboren. Er verkörperte den Sound der achtziger Jahre mit Hits wie "Der Kommissar" und "Jeanny": der österreichische Musiker "Falco". Seine Erfolgssingle "Rock me Amadeus" führte 1985 als erster deutschsprachiger Song die US-Charts an. Der als exzentrisch geltende Künstler, der zeitlebens umstritten war und an Alkoholsucht litt, starb im Winter 1998 im Alter von 40 Jahren bei einem Verkehrsunfall in der Dominikanischen Republik.
