She's been on an incredible adventure this last 12 months and she's here to tell us all.Hailing from Mexico City Tania finds herself now based in Dubai, a destination she reached via Glasgow, a city she called home for 4 years.Tania hates running. Let's get that straight, she just isn't a fan. However, we find out that running brings her much joy and she embraces new experiences, mental challenges and broadening horizons.Tania is about to leave for Chile's Atacama Desert, finishing her year-long Grand Slam of Deserts PLUS quest. This thrilling expedition has taken her to some of the most challenging and diverse deserts around the world, including the Sahara, Gobi, Antarctic and Namib deserts. Each location has tested her endurance and skills, and now she faces the final stretch in the arid and expansive Atacama Desert, known for its stark landscapes, ancient geoglyphs, and unique wildlife!Such far flung adventures seems far off as we find out from Tania how she got bitten by the ultra-marathon bug during her time spent in Scotland, entranced by the beauty and remoteness of the landscapes. Who knew the Gobi dessert was just like a humid Pentlands?Tania, who hosts her own podcast, Ultra Happy Podcast, provides valuable insights into her planning and execution of stage races she has completed. She discusses various aspects including training, logistics, motivation, and nutrition. We had such a great chat with Tania about her unique ultra-marathoning approach, and we're sure you'll love it too!Tania Carmona InstagramLeodhais Macpherson VideoLeodhais Macpherson Fundraiser

Clare Balding is celebrating a listener's birthday today. Not something we've done before, but when we heard that Lynda Pettit was marking her 60th birthday by walking 60 different routes with 60 different people, and that the idea was partly inspired by Ramblings, well we just had to join in, especially as it's Clare's 25th year on Ramblings (double celebrations!). Lynda and several friends took Clare for a hike on the Stoney Path walk in the Pentland Hills near West Linton, about 20 miles south of Edinburgh. They met outside The Gordon Arms Hotel on the A702 and went up into the southern Pentlands. It's a route that takes in the Old Roman road that heads up to Edinburgh; Stoney Path, also known as Thieves Road, an ancient droving track used by cattle reivers herding stolen livestock through the hills; and Baddinsgill Reservoir. They also ascended Mount Maw, catching sight of a beautiful cloud inversion on the way. Views from the top stretched around 80 miles to a snow-capped Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro. In this episode we catch up with Ali Eadie. Ali describes herself as a 'seasoned listener' to the podcast, and this chat has been a long time coming. Ali peaked our interest with her involvement at Run Talk Run, a group whose mission is to increase accessibility to mental health support through running & walking. But there is a whole lot more to Ali that this! Ali tells us what brings her joy from running...and life in general. Still to complete a road marathon (it's on the list) Ali has found a love of the trails and hills. Canicross is a love of Ali's and Fin (Ali's dog) and we find out a bit more about what Canicross is. If it's your thing too, let us know. From running a marathon through lockdown, to taking on the Dava Way 50k, the Cateran Trail, the Devil of The Highlands, and a podium place at an ultra in the Faroe Islands, the last couple of years running has brought Ali great joy and success. Define success...in Ali's words 'it was just a nice day', all the success you will ever need. We speak about the Love Trails Festival in Wales, big shout out to this, it sounds like an awesome experience, and it's played a big part in Ali's running story. It's not just putting on a race number that excites Ali though, we speak about her love of the hills, Edinburgh's Pentlands specifically and having adventures with friends and the EH3Milers run club (a run and a pint, what's not to like!) It wouldn't be a YHRF episode with chat of food would it? Pot Noodles, Salt n Vinegar Hula Hoops, Dairylea Dunkers (the midge version), Percy Pigs...it's all in here! If your thing is getting great joy from running, keeping it simple and living life with a smile, this is the episode for you. Did we mention the funky shorts? Clare hikes with the inspirational adventurers Hazel and Luke Robertson on the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh. They are mountain leaders, polar explorers and public speakers with many personal experiences to draw upon. Hazel spent four years of her childhood growing up in Canada and Alaska, which developed her love of the outdoors. At the age of 30, Luke became the first Scot to ski solo and unsupported to the South Pole. This was in 2016, just two years after major brain surgery. Both are originally from the North East of Scotland, but now live in Edinburgh from where they run their company 'Everyday Exploring'. They've chosen to take Clare on one of their favourite local walks: Starting at Bonaly (Grid Ref: NT 211 674) they head up White Hill and onto Capelaw hoping, first, for views across the three bridges that span the Firth of Forth and then a broader view taking in more of the Pentlands range. See the 'related links' box on the Ramblings webpage for more information about what's been discussed in the programme. Presenter: Clare Balding Produced for BBC Audio in Bristol by Karen Gregor

“I am thoroughly delighted – and feel sad almost when I have a big cheer inside – when on the screen pops up a senior female executive from another organisation. I get a bit giddy. That just shows we've come a long way, but how far we've got to come.” - Charlotte In a first for Why Care?, I am joined by two guests Charlotte Cox, President EMEA Pentland Brands and Pentland's D&I Manager, Caroline Nankinga. Pentland Brands specialises in sportswear, with a number of well-known active sports brands underneath it including Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, Mitre, Kickers and Lacoste to just name a few! Charlotte and Caroline join me to discuss a range of topics surrounding the internal D&I of a global company, and the external D&I of designing products and marketing campaigns for a diverse and global audience. As always, we open the conversation talking about what D&I means to Charlotte and Caroline and how it has impacted their journey so far. Caroline describes her experience of growing up in a multi-cultural city like London but still feeling very isolated as a minority person at school, university and the early stages of her career. Charlotte shares her own journey as a woman in corporate Britain. When travelling for business, she has often found herself as the only woman in the room. We then discuss how Charlotte and Caroline's stories, and my own, have a connection of ‘onlyness' – the alienation of feeling like the only one in the room who has your characteristics. We discuss what it is like to be a female business leader, and how important it is to use your own experiences as a reference when dealing with others. But equally important is gathering different perspectives, as your experiences may not be universal and may not necessarily lead to inclusion. Charlotte continues this conversation to talk about how leaders must learn to recognise privilege and use it to be an ally and uplift others. She goes on to talk about how inclusive leadership requires effort to understand people, and if you make this effort you and your organisation will reap the benefits of an inclusive workforce. We then connect D&I at Pentlands to Covid-19 and how people have had more of a reliance on outdoor activities for their own wellbeing. Charlotte connects this to Pentland's Positive Business Strategy in taking social responsibility for meeting these new consumer needs. We talk about how brands impact society and how becoming a leading brand means having diverse consumer groups with a variety of characteristics, D&I simply becomes a consumer need. Caroline expands on how this external D&I work by Pentland Brands is supported by internal D&I in the company, for example this year they created a new D&I Squad which contains members from across the company to support Pentland's D&I roadmap. We go on to discuss the importance of creating bespoke D&I training materials for the organisation. Finally, we close the episode by reflecting on how, despite the negatives of Covid-19, the pandemic has fostered new ways in which we communicate no matter the distance between us, that means global organisations like Pentland Brands now have a greater feeling of unity than ever before. Hello and welcome to Porty News, which at the moment is an experiment as part of the Porty Podcast. Our aim – and perhaps that of anyone who wants to help out occasionally – is to bring you brief snippets of news from Portobello, Joppa and the surrounding areas as well as useful information from organisations like City of Edinburgh Council, the police and other such bodies. Let’s start with news of a scam – and quite a nasty one at that. Several local people have received very credible looking emails claiming to be from the NHS and giving them details of their supposed appointment for a Co-Vid 19 jag. As I say, it looks pretty legit – until you’re asked for your credit card details right at the end. That should immediately ring alarm bells! Indeed, the very fact you got this invite as an email and not a letter should have been the give-away. According to the NHS, they will only contact you by post. Now, you remember, there were far too many people out on the Prom and Beach last weekend. I don’t know about you but I didn’t want to mingle and stayed at home. But it was enough for Police Scotland to warn that they’ll be stepping up patrols here this coming weekend, along with places like the Pentlands and Cramond. The rules, which are supposed to apply to all of us, say we’re are only allowed to leave our homes to go to work, to take some exercise to go shopping. There’s been a lot of online comment here, whenever the weather’s good which actually doesn’t look like being the case over the next few days, about roads leading to the beach being clogged by 4-by-4s, filled with maw, pa and the weans, folk who’ve come down from other parts of the city for a wee dauner along Porty sands. That’s not following the rules boys and girls. Finally, tomorrow’s episode of the podcast in its usual form will be an interview with Justin Kendrick looking forward to a future when life returns to some form of normality, whatever that turns out to be – asking how we can build on the community spirit that’s been helping us through the pandemic – and asking what sort of community we want Portobello and Joppa to be and how we get that community involved in thinking about how to achieve all of that. That will be posted wherever you find your podcasts, as well as assorted pages on Facebook and Twitter first thing tomorrow morning.

In episode 24 of the ecotherapy podcast, I reflect on the magic of hills and mountains. I discuss and introduce ways of getting to know your favourite hills or mountains a little better (without climbing them).Hills and mountains are dominant, unique formations that tower above the landscape. We are so often aware of their presence, but how often do we pay attention to their individual structures and quirks? In this week’s nature therapy radio show, I walk and reflect on my local hills—The Pentlands. The idea of sketching can be off-putting to those of us (myself included) who find the idea of creating art difficult or even frustrating. For others, however, art and ecotherapy go together like hand in glove. Either way, there is something about sketching the outlines of a hill or mountain that can connect you to it in a simple way. Tune in to the show, and give it a try!

Herzlich willkommen zu unserem zweiten Podcast by comon.de . Also viele Möglichkeiten zunehmender Interaktionen, um Vertrauen aufzubauen.
