This Saturday, Rachel spoke on the topic of Gentleness, her message was titled, A Gentle Kingdom. Questions: Why do you think gentleness is a Fruit of the Spirit? What are some words you associate with gentleness? Do any of them carry any cultural baggage for you? What roles does gentleness play in a Christ-centered community? Scripture: Galatians 5:13-26 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

READ: Acts 6.1 NLT 'But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.' If you have ever been part of a church or other human organisation you will know exactly what is meant by rumblings of discontent! They are part of life and are exhausting. It isn't open war, but it isn't something that can be brushed to one side either. The problem on this occasion was a practical one but it was clearly causing great unhappiness. The church in Jerusalem was composed of Jews from different backgrounds. Some of them had always lived in the Jerusalem area and spoke Hebrew or Aramaic, but there were others who had lived in neighbouring countries and largely spoke Greek. Some of the latter had come to live in Jerusalem at the end of their lives and were far from their families and so were particularly vulnerable. The response of the apostles gives us a good model as to how to handle rumblings of discontent. Firstly, they acted quickly. So often, in my experience, people live with the hope that, if they ignore a problem, it will go away. This is rarely the case. The action they took was to appoint seven people to oversee the distribution of the food, to ensure that fairness prevailed. This would then release the apostles to get on with their central work of prayer and preaching. It interests me that the qualifications for performing this practical task were that the selected people should be full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit. This is a helpful reminder that every role in the life of a church is spiritual. I sometimes hear people talking about the different jobs that need doing in a church as if some are spiritual and others are practical. It is not so. Every role is spiritual and, as people do the many practical tasks that need to be done, it is vital that they are full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit. QUESTIONS: Why is it so crucial that church work should be done by people who are full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit? PRAYER: Lord God our Father help us to be wise in responding to rumblings of discontent. Fill us with your Spirit as we serve you. Amen

READ: Acts 1.12 and 14 NLT 'Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile. When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying... They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.' The days between Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost were filled with prayer. All the disciples knew was that they had to wait and they didn’t want to do this alone. We read that they met together in an upper room and this may well have been the place where they had gathered for the Last Supper. What matters is that they were together and it is interesting to note that the eleven disciples were joined by Jesus’ mother and his brothers. We know little about Jesus’ brothers but John records that, prior to his death, they did not believe in him (John 7.5). What an amazing time of prayer that must have been! Jesus had told them that the Holy Spirit would be poured out on them, but hadn’t informed them when this might happen. They simply had to wait in expectation, with the confidence of knowing that God had a perfect plan. In one sense prayer is always like this. Although we live in the privileged days of the Spirit, whenever we come together to pray there is much that we do not know. We only partly know God’s plans for our lives, our church and our world. As we pray we open ourselves afresh to the breath of God’s Spirit and invite him to meet with us. It’s also vital for us to see the importance of praying together. Prayer is the privilege of every Christian and we will often pray by ourselves. But there is something very important about praying with our Christian brothers and sisters. Jesus said, “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18.20 As we pray together the risen Lord Jesus Christ stands with us, strengthening and inspiring us. What could be more exciting than that?! QUESTIONS: Why is waiting so important in our Christian lives? PRAYER: Gracious Lord, teach me more about the importance of expectant prayer, and help me to treasure the opportunities you give me to pray with my Christian brothers and sisters. Amen
SDRs and managers alike often fall prey to the idea of the ‘silver bullet.' A message so perfect that prospects can't help but respond. Let's rip that band-aid off right now - there is no perfect email. There is no perfect voicemail. There is no perfect message. Done is better than perfect. And more often than not, the strive for ‘perfect' holds a lot of teams back. ...now what? How can you stand out as an SDR? What processes can you adopt to regularly hit quota? What skills can you build to replace that chase for a silver bullet? From persona development to research best practices to hyper-flexibility, Joe Latchaw joins the UNSUBSCRIBE team to talk about the alternatives to ‘silver bullet' messaging. Structure & Questions: ❓ Why do you think some teams are so set on the idea of finding that ‘silver bullet' message? ❓ What about ‘silver bullet' tools for your team? Do they have a similar issue? ❓ Let's discuss this quote: “While seeking silver bullets, salespeople stop using their lead bullets.” What do you think about it? ❓ What would you do instead of searching for silver bullets? ❓ Let's wrap it all up with a look to the future. What do you think the sales development function will look like in the next few years?
Questions: Why is David, a man who did nothing when his daughter got raped considered a man after God's own heart, but Tamar, a victim of rape is not considered a woman after God's own heart? Why is Jephthah, a dude who made his daughter a victim of human sacrifice by his own hands apart of the Heroes of Faith Hebrews Chapter 11, but his daughter is not? Why is okay to be all milk, and no meat in so many houses of worship? Why is gossiping instead of one-one-one conflict resolution so prevalent in places of praise? Why is so many afraid of doubts, fears, worries, insecurities, sexual beingness, the possibility of absolute certainty being untrue, and their own anger? Why do so many in buildings of religion run away from being fully human and instead choose to live a one-sided humanity (Happy-Happy Joy-Joy)? How come Paul never wrote to the families of the Christians he mass murdered as a form of public repentance and open amends making? Why are they winning the worldliness competition when it comes to themselves vs the world? I think Christlikeness is written within us, not outside of us. I also think that we are the Christ figures that we have been waiting for. I love these eight points of Progressive Christianity: Focus: The teachings and life of Jesus provide them with a path to God. Pluralism: They recognize that others follow their own paths to God which are equally true for them. Communion: They view the sharing of bread and wine in Jesus' name to represent "an ancient vision of God's feast for all peoples." Inclusivity: All are welcome to become involved; persons of all genders, sexual orientations, traditions, races, etc. Reciprocity: How people treat one another is the "fullest expression" of their beliefs. Search: They find more grace in searching for truth than in accepting certainty. Community: They form communities to support each other in their quest for peace, justice, a restored environment, and to provide hope. Cost: Following Jesus involves a personal investment in "selfless love, conscientious resistance to evil, and renunciation of privilege." I am not the private life police. I repeat for the final time: I live the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like others to treat you. I live also live by the Silver Rule: Do not treat others in ways that you would not like to be treated. What you wish upon others, you wish upon yourself. As a do no harm principled person: I am live and let live meaning that all should be able to live their lives in the manner they want to, regardless of what other may think of them. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
READ: Luke 22.19-20 NLT He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.” I am glad that meals were so important in Jesus’ ministry. He loved spending time with people in the relaxed atmosphere of a meal and so it is very significant that, on the night before he died, we find him having supper with his disciples. Jesus knows that his death is only hours away, but he doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to have one final meal with those who had walked with him throughout his ministry. They had no idea what Jesus’ words meant as he took the bread and wine and said that they represented his body and blood. Only later would it all fall into place for them. People often tell me that their church is particularly gifted in catering. I’m delighted! It seems to me that any true follower of Jesus should enjoy eating with others. So often it is the relaxed conversation that happens over a meal that enables relationships to deepen. Eating a meal together is completely inclusive because everyone needs to eat. Jesus was often criticised for the people with whom he had meals, but he clearly used it as a way to reach out to the most ungodly people in the community. Food and drink broke down barriers and enabled him to show that he welcomed every kind of person. It’s interesting that Jesus only told us to hold one particular service. He never mentioned family, morning or evening services, wonderful as they may be. He only told us to meet for a meal in remembrance of his death for us. What an incredible privilege it is to do what the disciples did 2,000 years ago as we meet over a meal with the Lord Jesus Christ. QUESTIONS: Why is it so important for us to keep remembering Jesus’ death? PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that you were willing to give your body and blood so that I can be free. Amen
Pastor Plek discusses the value of Revelation.Questions: Why is the book of revelation used to predict the end of the world? Because of all the symbols? I dislike when people do this because no one knows when this will happen. Only God does.
Why Extra Esther?§ At first reading within Christian circles, Esther is elevated as a hero that intervenes on behalf of the Jewish people.§ However, in Jewish Tradition, the book of Esther, megillat ‘ester, “the scroll of Esther,” is inextricably bound up with the holiday of Purim.§ The book provides a rationale for the religious festival as a story of origin. § Purim, the only religious festival not found in the Torah, needed a reason and an authorization. § The book of Esther is the centerpiece of the observance of Purim; it is traditionally read publicly in the synagogue on Purim eve and the following morning, accompanied by the noisy blotting out of Haman’s name by children and adults, many of them dressed in funny costumes. § Purim is a carnivalesque holiday, replete with reenactments of the story, excessive drinking and a general sense of frivolity uncharacteristic of other Jewish festivals. § The spirit of this holiday is comically summarized by Mayim Bialik (Amy on the Big Bang Theory)§ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbKfB5E6sAA A Search for Questions§ Why is there no mention of God in the text?§ Why are there three more chapters?§ Why name the day after the instrument of choice used by the enemy? (Pur – lot)§ Why is there a pre-occupation with Mordecai’s actions toward Haman?§ Why is there a preoccupation with the different feasts?§ Why does Esther wait to tell the king about Haman’s plan? The Questions Might Give Reason for the Additions§ There are six blocks of text, conventionally labeled A through F in all Greek versions of Esther. They are grouped in three pairs:§ Additions A and F is the dream of Mordecai and its interpretation§ Additions B and E is the letter Haman sent out against the Jews and the letter of Mordecai allowing Jews to defend themselves§ Additions C and D contains prayers of Esther and Mordecai and Esther approaching the king. § The main reason for these additions might be to give the story of Esther the religious atmosphere that is lacking in the Hebrew text. The Religious Angle§ Mordecai is a dreamer placing him along side Joseph and Daniel as recipients of divine revelation (Addition A and F)§ The dream uses the same imagery of the dragon, fountain, battle and contrast between light and dark in Jeremiah 28.§ The interpretation in addition F adds a connection to Joseph.§ Esther’s Prayer (Addition C)§ The Queen laments the Jew’s existence in exile and blames their own sins for the situation. § Esther bemoans her marriage to the king.§ Hellenizing Esther (Addition D)§ This describes her entry into the throne room. § She faints when the king looks at her and the king assures her that the prohibition against approaching the king uninvited does not apply to royalty.§ This text undermines Esther’s heroism.§ The King Rescinds His Order (Addition E)§ Haman is censured and presented as treacherously plotting against the king. § The king exonerates the Jews of all charges made by Haman. Adding Piety· Without these additions, one could question Mordecai’s religious stature, wonder about Esther’s true piety and if God really did play a role in the outcome. · This is most notable in the comparison of the Hebrew and Greek in chapter 6.· The cumulative effect of these alterations in Greek versions is to make Esther an overtly religious tale in which the main characters embody the distinctive marks of Judaism (dedication to One God, the observance of Torah in all its particulars as a way of life and the practice of pious acts of prayer, fasting and almsgiving).· Another effect of the additions is to heighten the reader’s awareness of the tension and animosity between Jew and Gentile. Theological Contribution§ Unlike Hebrew Esther, Greek Esther speaks of God directly. God is creator of all (13.10); furthermore, God is close to, and holds special, Israel. No one can oppose God’s will (13.9, 11). God controls the nations (16.16) and reveals himself to people (11.12). Finally, God makes the lots fall in the Jew’s favor (10.10-12). § On the other hand, Israel has failed God, primarily through the nation’s idolatry, and thus, their status in exile. The Additions as a Window into Jew/Gentile Relations§ Taking its place with Daniel, the additions to Daniel, and other Apocrypha, such as Judith and Tobit, the additions to Esther reveal the increasing pressures the Jews experienced as successive ruling nations seek to assimilate them into the dominant culture.

Proverbs 18:2-A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Website-Theproverbiallife.com Ways to Support the Ministry Merch- https://teespring.com/stores/the-proverbial-life Patreon.com/ProverbialLife PayPal-Teameramirez@gmail.com CashApp-$teameramirez Venmo-Edwin-Ramirez-75 Brief Outline Terms: Understanding: The fool takes no pleasure in wisdom and insight, a capacity for discerning a right course of action. Opinion: heart, i.e., the blood pumping organ of the body, mind, soul, spirit, self, i.e., the source of life of the inner person in various aspects, with a focus on feelings, thoughts, volition, and other areas of the inner life. {KJV} Proverbs 18:2-A fool hath no delight in understanding, But that his heart may discover itself. The fool is not interested in looking outside of himself but he is only interested in looking within. Questions: Why doesn't the fool take pleasure in understanding? Why does he only take pleasure in expressing his own opinion (or his own heart)? What does the bible have to say about the heart of man? Answer: The fool takes no pleasure in receiving wisdom and insight and would rather express his opinion because he is full of his own pride. To him all the answers of life are within Himself. In other words, he is his own god. All revelation is within and not outward. The problem is that the fool does not understand that his heart (his entire being-His mind, soul, spirit, his inner person) is decetful above all else. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-proverbial-life/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-proverbial-life/support

Today we are going to talk with Ashton Addison who runs the Crypto Coin Show about how the blockchain is the best solution to stop counterfeit items like tickets, documents and other items. Questions Why is it so important to be on blockchain? So how exactly does the blockchain ensure that important items like event tickets are not counterfeit? Can’t you do a smart ticket? Where you get a free drink, a virtual item that acts like a digital sourvenir and maybe a ticket card that is stored forever in a wallet to show off to your friends? What about the peer to peer selling of tickets? What are the roadblocks to adoption of it? What other uses cases does the blockchain have for these types of use cases? How about title insurance? IN 100 words or less, if you could invest a fictional $100,000 in one or two cryptos, what would they be and why? Bitcoin, just because bitcoin runs the entire cryptocurrency market still. Secondly, Ethereum. Ethereum has done so much for the community and helped expand the market cap exponentially. There are also many developers working on ETH for the launch of ETH 2.0, and the price back to all time high is a nice bonus too. Key Takeaway: Create events and secure your tickets on the blockchain to have counterfeit proof tickets, without needing to understand blockchain, and accept cryptocurrency (and fiat too) for the tickets to help spread the adoption of blockchain, at eventchain.io. Also, we can push people to our YouTube channel, Crypto Coin Show. Where can they reach you? ashton@cryptocoinshow.com t-me/eventchain Bio: Ashton has been involved in the blockchain industry since 2013, through the initial rise of Bitcoin price and the lead up to the Ethereum ICO. As the CEO and Founder of EventChain, he pioneered the team through a successful raise in September of 2017. He also advises other Blockchain companies globally including Syscoin and CoinPayments.net in Canada, Pundi X in Indonesia and SmartMesh in China. Together with EventChain and his associated blockchain projects he has helped raise over $50M altogether.

When we put out a request for people to contact us if they had a story to tell, we got this reply "I do have a story to tell. It is tragic and yet beautiful and inspiring at the same time. It is the loss of our son and how the whole universe seemed poised for this horrible event and sent us so much love, and help for understanding...". We couldn't resist and in the weeks since that initial contact, we have gotten some real insights into suicide and how a parent copes with the suicide of their child. More about that shortly. Born in So. California in the early 60's to a large, loud, rowdy family Jenny Rose became a peace advocate at a young age. Later she worked for Alliance for Survival and shared her compassion for those affected by racism, war, pollution, and political and economic injustice. She moved to Northern California and met her husband and they raised 2 boys along the Eel river under the mighty redwoods for 12 wonderful years after which them moved to Oregon in 2001. In 2007 our oldest son left for college and our younger son began to have some real problems. She says, "Alongside what seems like an ordinary life, I have always been a person who could see what was unseen and hear what is not spoken, by way of symbols, signs, dreams and gut feelings. I think we are all given messages like this it's just that most people aren't paying attention and sometimes you don't want to pay attention. When I started getting messages that our son Clay would kill himself I did the same thing and said it was just my own fear, my imagination, my worst nightmare…" Questions: Why do you think you were given messages that your son was going to kill himself? What was your biggest concern regarding Clay after he died? Did he leave a suicide note? Were you angry or did you blame the doctors, hospital, his councilor, others…? Why was George Anderson's book so comforting to you? What were your feelings about your son's friend's death when it happened? Did you have dreams about Clay, your son after his death? Did you believe the message was from your son that Donna took? How did receiving the message from your friend and your son in the same week affect you? Dealing with guilt is probably the hardest part of suicide, what has helped you the most in that regard? Did your son leave any other messages for you or others? What helped your husband and your older son with their grieving? What lessons do you believe we're yours to learn from your son's suicide? As a person who has lived and worked toward a peaceful world, what do you believe your son's suicide has taught you about peace? If other people are listening who might be dealing with depression or suicidal people in their lives what advice if any would you give them? For those who have lost someone to suicide, what would you say to him or her? When we are sorrowful, Let us look again into our hearts, And will see that in truth, We are weeping for that which has been our delight.
