" We did a survey with The Economist globally which obviously included Europe and APAC as well. And we asked the question, 'Does my organization's current architecture supports the unique demands of AI workloads.' Basically 85% said, 'No. We don't have the architecture to support it.' Some partially does, but it needs lots of modifications. So we can still feel a lot of people are still in the early stages and that data point ties back to: 85% of GenAI [proof of concepts] has not gone into production. I think that another interesting point is, 'Does your architecture connect AI application? -your relevant business data.' which is probably nearly even more important for me. Again, it was still about 80%- 'We don't have that.' Because that business data is all over the place. Without the clean data, you cannot get good AI." - Patrick Kelly Fresh out of the studio, Patrick Kelly, Senior Director for Digital Natives, Startups & Enterprise and Commercial Sales in Southeast Asia at Databricks, joins us to discuss how data intelligence is powering enterprise AI applications in ASEAN. Beginning with his career journey from network engineering to tech leadership across Asian markets, Patrick explained how Databricks pioneered the Lakehouse architecture and integrated generative AI into enterprise workloads. Emphasizing the critical role of data quality in AI success, he showcased compelling customer case studies from across ASEAN and revealed striking generative AI trends in Asia - notably that 85% of organizations lack proper architecture to support AI workloads, reinforcing that clean data remains foundational for effective AI implementation. Patrick concluded by sharing his vision of what success looks like for Databricks in Southeast Asia. In today's episode, I sit down with Gretta Rusanow, Head of Law Firm Group Advisory Services for Citi Global Wealth at Work, to break down the findings of the 2025 Citi Hildebrandt Client Advisory. This annual report is one of the most closely watched analyses in the legal industry, providing insights on market trends, firm growth strategies, and the evolving business model of law firms. We explore some of the biggest challenges and opportunities law firms are facing, including the slow but inevitable adoption of generative AI, shifting leverage models, the expansion of non-equity partner tiers, and how firms are approaching lateral hiring in an increasingly competitive market. If you're a law firm leader, an aspiring partner, or simply want to stay ahead of where the legal industry is headed, this episode is packed with valuable insights. At a Glance: 00:00 Introduction: The Future of Big Law  01:20 Overview of the Citi Hildebrandt Client Advisory and its influence on law firm strategy 04:03 How law firms are responding to generative AI and why spending remains low 08:20 The challenge of recouping AI investment costs while maintaining profitability 10:46 How AI may reshape associate leverage models and impact billing structures 16:07 The role of lateral partner hiring and why success rates remain modest 20:56 The rise of the non-equity partner tier and its impact on law firm economics 27:21 The risks of an overgrown income partner tier and how firms can manage it effectively 30:51 Growth markets and law firm consolidation trends in 2025 A Few Takeaways: Generative AI Adoption Is Slow, But Inevitable: Despite all the buzz, law firms spent less than 1% of their revenue on generative AI tools in 2023. Firms are still in the assessment phase, but large-scale investment is coming. Those that successfully integrate AI will need to balance efficiency gains with sustainable billing models. Leverage Models Will Shift, But Not Disappear: While AI may reduce the need for first- and second-year associates to perform certain tasks, firms are more likely to reshape their leverage models than abandon them. Many firms expect a shift toward mid-level and senior associates who can refine AI-generated work rather than a dramatic cut in junior hiring. Lateral Hiring Is a Gamble: The success rate of lateral hires remains low, with many firms finding that promised books of business don't always materialize. Firms that succeed in lateral hiring have rigorous integration strategies, ensuring new partners are fully embedded in firm culture and client relationships. The Non-Equity Partner Tier Is Expanding for Retention: More firms are embracing the income partner model as a way to retain senior associates who might otherwise leave. While this strategy can strengthen talent pipelines, firms must carefully manage this tier to avoid the inefficiencies seen in past decades. Market Consolidation Is Expected to Continue: The cost of running a law firm is rising, from AI investments to partner compensation. In an environment of modest demand growth, firms will increasingly turn to mergers and strategic consolidation to remain competitive, particularly in high-cost legal markets like New York, California, and London. SMBs need expert consulting but can't afford $150-500/hour traditional services. The solution? $49-500/month AI consulting agents.6) What impressed me most: Manus VALIDATED the idea with ACTUAL DATA:• 47% growth in r/smallbusiness subscribers• Direct quotes from Reddit showing pain points:"I'd love expert advice but can't justify $200 consultants""Generic AI tools don't understand my industry challenges"7) Manus even built a COMPLETE landing page with:• Eye-catching design• Lead generation forms• Interactive business assessment• Pricing tiersAll without Greg needing to write a single line of code! 8) The LIMITATIONS Greg found:• You still need to ask the right questions• It's more like a "junior employee" than a true co-founder• Takes 10-15 minutes for complex tasks• You need to push back on some recommendations9) My takeaway: We're entering an era where the COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE isn't coding ability - it's knowing which QUESTIONS to ask AI.The winners will be those who can identify trends and direct AI to build solutions that ride those tailwinds.Notable Quotes:"In a world where anyone could create software... figuring out what is the brand, what is the landing page, what is the product, and what is the trend... is gonna help you actually build a business, not just build a product." - GregLCA helps Fortune 500s and fast-growing startups build their future - from Warner Music to Fortnite to Dropbox. In today's Big Picture episode of the Michael Yardney Podcast, Pete Wargent and I discuss a raft of macro factors that will affect how our property markets play out this year, including the implications of the first rate cut by the RBA, our plunging vacancy rates which are only going to make rents rise further, the recent government incentives issued push-up property values, why there's no way we will meet the governmen's new construction targets, plus lots more. We analyze how these factors will interplay to shape the property market in 2025 and beyond. Takeaways Interest rates are expected to fall further, but maybe not as quickly as many would hope. Vacancy rates are declining, leading to further rent increases. Government policies often focus on demand rather than supply and “kick the can down the road.” Construction challenges are exacerbated by a shortage of tradespeople. Migration trends are influencing the housing market significantly. Unemployment remains low, contributing to economic stability. Market sentiment plays a crucial role in property investment decisions. Government incentives do not effectively address housing affordability. Data Visibility and Accountability: Key Trends in Cyber Governance with Arik Solomon

Host Dave Sobel engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Arik Solomon, CEO and co-founder of Cypago, a leading cyber governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) automation platform. The discussion delves into the challenges faced by organizations in the GRC space, particularly the reliance on manual processes despite the abundance of data available. Solomon shares his insights from his experience as CTO at Ernst & Young, where he recognized the need for technology to enhance the efficiency and sophistication of compliance services.Solomon explains that Cypago operates at the intersection of cybersecurity and GRC, aiming to streamline the alignment of security programs with business requirements and regulatory standards. The technology developed by Cypago automates the collection and analysis of data related to security controls, enabling compliance officers and security leaders to gain meaningful insights into their organizations' security posture. This automation, however, raises concerns about the potential for a "checkbox culture," where organizations may rely too heavily on automated processes without meaningful engagement from human experts. The conversation also touches on the evolving landscape of cybersecurity regulations, particularly in light of increased scrutiny from governing bodies. Solomon emphasizes the importance of establishing a baseline of minimum security standards while acknowledging the complexities of creating a universal compliance framework. He critiques existing regulations like GDPR, suggesting that a more effective approach would involve providing organizations with best practices and guidelines rather than rigid requirements that may not fit all scenarios. As the episode concludes, Solomon highlights key trends to watch in the GRC space over the next 18 months, including the need for enhanced visibility into data management and the importance of having robust governance processes in place. He underscores that organizations must prioritize understanding where their data resides and implementing necessary security measures to protect it. This insightful discussion provides valuable perspectives for cybersecurity professionals navigating the complexities of compliance in an ever-changing regulatory environment. Vancouver Real Estate Predictions 2025: Key Trends, Market Insights & Top Areas to Watch

The Vancouver Life Real Estate Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 11, 2025 42:10

In this episode, we explore our predictions for the 2025 Vancouver Real Estate Market, diving deep into the economic and financial trends that will shape the year ahead. With Canada's GDP growth expected to remain moderate, driven by immigration and resource exports, the potential for a mild recession looms if elevated interest rates continue to slow consumer spending and business investment. We analyze the possibility of economic turbulence while discussing key signals in sectors like housing, manufacturing, and retail. Meanwhile, Canada's population growth is expected to drop considerably from before but will still be pushing the annual growth, to what extent remains to be seen. This sustained influx will fuel housing demand but could strain infrastructure and services. On the employment front, the unemployment rate, currently at 6.8%, is projected to remain somewhat stable within the 6.5%-8% range. While population growth could create new job opportunities, sensitive sectors like construction and tech may see some challenges. Inflation, sitting at 1.9%, is anticipated to close the year between 2.0% and 2.5%, assuming stable monetary policy and limited disruptions in energy prices or supply chains. This outcome largely depends on US trade policy which has yet to be sorted out. The Bank of Canada's interest rate, currently at 3.25%, is forecasted to ease slightly by year-end if inflation targets maintain and economic growth softens. In tandem, mortgage rates are likely to decline as well, with variable & potentially fixed rates dropping too. Despite these adjustments, Canada's mortgage arrears rate, historically low at around 0.15%, may see a slight uptick as households adjust to higher payments on renewals.Turning to real estate, we predict a steady recovery in sales volumes, with activity returning near the 10-year average, barring any significant rate fluctuations. The sales-to-active listings ratio which is currently signaling balanced market conditions may tick up into a Seller's market with more interest rate fluctuations. Inventory levels may see modest growth too as many who did not sell in 2024 will return to the market to try again. In the pre-sale market, developers are projected to cautiously release new projects, reflecting a gradual increase in buyer confidence. After an 8% decline in rental rates during 2024, the rental market is expected to stabilize though this will largely depend on immigration levels and the overall performance of the economy. In this episode we also highlight the top markets poised to outperform the Greater Vancouver region in 2025. We look at Surrey and Langley as they continue to attract buyers with affordability and infrastructure investment among a list of other locations that we strongly endorse. Tune in and find out which areas those are! This episode provides a comprehensive roadmap for navigating the opportunities and challenges of Vancouver's 2025 real estate market. Whether you're a buyer, seller, or investor, these insights will help you stay ahead in a shifting landscape. Denise Garth: Key Trends and Strategies for 2025 Shaping The Future of Insurance

Scouting for Growth

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 9, 2025 62:49

On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to Denise Garth, a globally recognized InsurTech thought leader and Chief Strategy Officer at Majesco. In our talk today, we dive into the top trends shaping insurance and InsurTech as we head toward 2025—from next-gen technology enablers to constantly evolving customer expectations. Denise will share her insights on where the industry is headed, how to stay ahead, and why a collaborative mindset is crucial. KEY TAKEAWAYS What was happening in the resilience market in 2024, from both economic and risk standpoints, has had a huge operational impact on insurance companies. As a result, as we go into 2025, the reaction of loss ratios increasing, unprofitability, high interest rates, all the economic factors are forcing us to step back and see it as a wake-up call. We’re in the midst of business model and technology driven change. We’re finally realising our decades old operational models and technology foundations no longer meet the challenges and opportunities of this fast-changing risk, technology, and customer demographics world. It’s a race to the future because there’s a growing protection gap that we must address in a different way. We’ve been on a technology ride for 10-15 years , especially in InsurTech, but the last few months have been mind blowing with the pace of change and what the technology, like GenAI and IoT can do. They can help us do risk assessments better, give better customer experience and optimise the whole operation. Cloud computing is expanding the capabilities. Happy New Year. After a two week break, which seems like an eternity in ecommerce, we're back and raring to go. To kick-off 2025, we're looking at the broader economic picture and the intersection between macro events and ecommerce strategy, assessing the key trends we think will shape the ecommerce industry this year and which ecommerce teams need to be planning for. We've pulled out 5 factors that we think will have the greatest macro impact on ecommerce businesses. Mortgages and interest rates Inflation Stronger wage growth Trump's tariffs Global supply chains And then explore 6 key trends that arise from the current economic situation: Cross border commerce Loyalty & referrals Content and top of funnel become more important Technology consolidation Flexible payments Returns As A Service (RaaS) Key takeaways: Understanding macroeconomic factors helps shape marketing strategies. The economic outlook in UK & US is slightly more positive than 2024 but still cost pressures on many households. Consumer confidence is crucial for driving discretionary spending. Premium & luxury brands are better insulated from the impact of shopping patterns due to rising costs. Tariffs will significantly impact supply chain costs and operations. Flexibility in supply chains is necessary to mitigate supply chain volatility. Investing in inventory management is essential for ecommerce success. Loyalty programs should focus on building long-term customer relationships. Community engagement enhances brand loyalty and customer retention. Buy now, pay later options can improve conversion rates if communicated effectively. Ecommerce brands should explore less competitive international markets for growth.

In my recent episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I'm interviewing Megan Porter, host of the Eat Blog Talk podcast, about the world of food blogging now. Megan shares her thoughts on the current trends and challenges in the food blogging space including how food bloggers are finding success right now in diversifying their traffic and selling their knowledge as digital products. Key Trends in Food Blogging Diversifying Traffic Sources One of the most significant trends Megan highlights is the shift away from relying solely on Google for traffic. With recent algorithm changes causing fluctuations in traffic, many bloggers are turning to alternative sources like Pinterest. Leverage Pinterest as a Search Engine: Treat Pinterest not just as a social media platform but as a search engine. Conduct keyword research to optimize your pins and ensure they are discoverable. Create Multiple Pins for Each Post: Develop various pins for each blog post, targeting different use cases and scenarios. For example, a chili recipe could be marketed for family dinners, camping trips, or potlucks. Consistency is Key: Plan to invest at least six months to a year into your Pinterest strategy before expecting significant results. Create around five unique pins for each new blog post and update older content regularly. Updating Older Content Another trend Megan discusses is the practice of updating older blog posts. This strategy helps maintain or boost traffic by improving the relevance and searchability of your existing content. Audit Your Content: Regularly review your blog archives to identify posts that could benefit from updates. Focus on improving the quality, adding new information, and optimizing for current SEO best practices. Repurpose Content: Consider repurposing older content into new formats, such as videos, infographics, or social media posts, to reach a broader audience. The Impact of Google Changes Building Authority and Expertise Google's algorithm changes have made it more challenging for newer bloggers to gain traction. Megan emphasizes the importance of building authority and expertise over time. Consistency and Persistence: Stay committed to producing high-quality content consistently. It may take time, but persistence is key to building credibility.   Develop a Unique Point of View: Differentiate yourself by sharing your opinions and personal experiences. Authenticity can attract a loyal audience who resonates with your perspective.   Focus on Domain Authority: Work on building your domain authority by earning backlinks from reputable sites, guest posting, and collaborating with other bloggers. Monetization Strategies Exploring Digital Products Megan and I discuss digital products as a potent revenue stream for food bloggers. With a solid email list, bloggers can effectively market ebooks, online challenges, and other digital offerings. Understand Your Audience: Conduct surveys or engage with your audience to understand their needs and preferences. Tailor your digital products to meet these demands. Start Small: Even with a smaller email list (around 1,000 to 2,000 subscribers), you can find significant potential for income. Focus on delivering value and building trust with your audience. Evaluate and Double Down: Regularly assess your monetization efforts to identify what is generating income. Double down on successful strategies and refine those that are underperforming. Affiliate Marketing Despite the challenges posed by Google's algorithm changes, affiliate marketing remains a viable income source for many bloggers. Create High-Quality Content: Focus on producing content that genuinely serves your audience. High-quality, informative posts are more likely to attract and retain readers. Diversify Affiliate Programs: Don't rely on a single affiliate program. Explore various programs and products that align with your niche and audience interests. Transparency and Trust: Be transparent about your affiliate relationships and prioritize building trust with your audience. Authentic recommendations are more likely to convert. Leveraging AI in Blogging Embracing AI as a Tool Initially, there was concern about AI's impact on blogging. However, many bloggers are now embracing AI as a valuable tool for brainstorming and content creation. Use AI for Idea Generation: Utilize AI tools to brainstorm content ideas and generate prompts. This can help overcome writer's block and provide fresh perspectives. Collaborative Writing: Treat AI as a supportive companion in your writing process. Use it to refine your writing and explore new angles. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest AI tools and technologies that can enhance your blogging efforts. Experiment with different tools to find what works best for you. Community and Support Building a Supportive Community Megan highlights the importance of community among bloggers. She runs various groups and memberships designed to provide support and connection for food bloggers. Join Blogging Communities: Participate in online groups, forums, and memberships where you can share challenges, seek advice, and celebrate successes with fellow bloggers. Network and Collaborate: Build relationships with other bloggers in your niche. Collaborate on projects, guest post on each other's blogs, and share each other's content. Mentorship and Learning: Seek out mentors and learning opportunities within the community. Continuous learning and support can help you navigate the ups and downs of blogging. Overcoming Burnout and Staying Focused Managing Burnout Burnout is a common struggle among bloggers, especially those who are creative and often drawn to new ideas and projects. Regularly Assess Priorities: Ensure that your efforts are directed toward activities that will yield the best results. Focus on what aligns with your goals. Set Achievable Goals: Break down your long-term vision into smaller, manageable goals. This can help you stay motivated and track your progress. Stay Connected to Your “Why”: Understand the reasons behind your blogging journey. Staying connected to your purpose can help you push through challenges and remain focused.
