Mention the Ring Brothers to any enthusiast that cherishes and adores modified, and coach build muscle cars, and odds are the reactions you'll get will be quite good. For almost two decades brothers Mike and Jim Ring have redefined what muscle cars could be in ways few could have imagined. They're first build happened in 2005. It was a 1967 Ford Mustang known as REACTOR and when the public got wind of it, they knew then and there, that the Ring Brothers where here to stay. Since then, the brothers have created some of the most memorable and stunning muscle cars the world has ever seen. Case in point, this year's 2023 SEMA show, where the brother's debuted two new creations. The first was TUSK, a stunning 1969 Dodge Charger complete with a 1,000 horsepower Hellephant crate engine under the hood, and the second was Paramount, a 1961 Classic Rolls Royce with a 640bhp supercharged LT4. On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast Mike Ring joins host Mike Musto to talk about how the Ring Brothers got started, and how, after almost two decades in business, they've got no plans of slowing down.
Ryan Fielding is the Fabrication Shop Manager at Ring Brothers where he has had a massive hand in shaping several of Ringbrothers award-winning builds including the SEMA 2022 Battle of the Builders winner “Enyo.” Ryan is a third-generation fabricator, car and motorcycle builder, with over 20 years of experience.
In their small town Wisconsin shop, Mike and Jim Ring build some of the finest custom performance cars you'll ever see. They started small but learned fast, and over the last thirty years they've focused on creative style and quality work while embracing changing technology. This week we are joined by car building royalty, the world famous Ring Brothers! We typically interview the Rings each year at SEMA, but at SEMA 2022 they had a "surplus" of vehicles on display (4)....and they were so busy accepting accolades and competing in the Builder of the Year competition (which they won) that we were never able to connect onsite. This is the long overdue follow up! As with all things, it was worth the wait. For the first time we were able to have a discussion about not only what they had a SEMA 2022 but how the two brothers from Wisconsin went from working construction, to owning a small gas station (for 7 months), to where they are today. The post TMCP #536: The Ring Brothers: How Two Brothers from Wisconsin Went from a Gas Station to Battle of the Builders! first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

The Ring brothers grew up around their dad’s fueling station and spent their time tinkering with whatever they could get their hands on. Jim moved around a few times and eventually moved his family back home to Spring Green, WI (2 hours west of Milwaukee). He saw a 1969 Camaro Indy Pace car for sale in the paper and had to get a loan from a bank to purchase the car. He fixed it up and ended up selling it for a profit. This was the catalyst for starting his own shop. Jim found a vacant car dealership and bought the building with a friend to begin working on and restoring cars. Several years later, he sold that building and bought a piece of land with his brother to start Ring Brothers. They were doing collision repair to pay the bills and bring in steady revenue. But their passion has always been for the customer and restoration side. On each one of the restorations, they would find more and more products that they didn’t particularly like. So, they would make these pieces in house! They built another building to house all of their CNC machines and now manufacture around 1000 SKU’s. In total, they have 3 buildings that take up about 15,000 sq ft to house all of their jobs and machines.
