What if the biggest obstacle to AI success inside your organization is not the technology at all? This week on WholeCEO With Lisa G, I am joined by AI strategy advisor, author, and founder Phillip Corey Roark. With more than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology and business transformation, Phillip has built the frameworks and playbooks that help executive teams do what most AI rollouts skip entirely: align their people, culture, and governance before the tools ever get deployed. His book, Harnessing the Power of AI: A Roadmap for Successful Leadership, makes an argument that every leader needs to hear right now. AI adoption is not a technology decision. It is a leadership test. We go deep on: . Why leaders, not tools, are the real constraint in AI transformation right now . How to talk about displacement and workforce development in a way that reduces fear without dismissing it . What executive teams need to assess for readiness before a single dollar gets spent on AI tools Subscribe to WholeCEO with Lisa G and share this episode with one leader who needs to hear it. #WholeCEO #ExecutiveLeadership #AILeadership #BOSSMethod #CEOMindset #LeadershipDevelopment #AIStrategy #ResponsibleAI #WorkforceReadiness #PhillipCoreyRoark
When Megan Roark first learned to row at 12 years old, she couldn't have known the sport would one day shape not only her athletic identity, but her approach to medicine. Years later, through her training and practice as a naturopathic doctor, Megan has come to appreciate rowing not just for its physical demands, but for its meditative qualities, too. But rowers are famously stubborn: pushing through pain, skipping recovery work, showing up to early practices under-fueled and dehydrated. In this episode, Megan shares a holistic approach to caring for the athlete as a whole for long-term health and performance. We talk about habits for deeper sleep, nutrition and hydration, building a strong “therapeutic alliance” with your doctor, and yes — even why showering matters more than we realize. The New Intellectual Book Study met in 2022 and 2023 to discuss For the New Intellectual, by Ayn Rand. This week our reading was pages 101–116. About the Book Study: Today's society is degenerating into a cult of despair. Not even churches are immune. In For the New Intellectual, Ayn Rand gave a brilliant overview of the status of Western culture, what brought us here, and how to bring a second Renaissance. The book is a good first or second read for someone wanting to understand Ayn Rand's Objectivism. Rand offered the book as a collection of the essential ideas in her philosophy “for those who wish to acquire an integrated view of existence.” Rand's goal was to advocate against mysticism, altruism, and collectivism, and for their opposites: reason, individualism, and capitalism. This book study was designed for Christians interested in understanding Rand's work and finding out where her insights can be valuable specifically to Christians. What does it take to build a modern luxury brand — without outside funding — and still grow at triple-digit rates? On today's episode, we welcome Kevin Keller, Co-Founder of Fulton & Roark — the American fine fragrance brand redefining how fragrance is designed, experienced, and sold. Launched in 2013 with just $11,000 and no outside investment, Kevin and his co-founder Allen Shafer set out to create products that felt more personal, practical, and modern — starting with their now-signature solid fragrance, a portable alternative to traditional sprays. Since then, Fulton & Roark has grown into a nationally distributed brand carried in hundreds of retail locations, including Neiman Marcus and luxury hotel properties, while maintaining a strong direct-to-consumer business that drives the majority of its sales. With thoughtful product expansion into extrait de parfum, grooming, and body care, the company has built a loyal following by staying disciplined in its approach to design, storytelling, and customer experience. In this episode, Kevin shares how he built Fulton & Roark from the ground up without outside capital, the importance of balancing DTC and wholesale in a competitive category, and how to scale profitably while staying true to your brand. We also discuss what “modern luxury” really means today, how consumer expectations around fragrance and grooming are evolving, and why intentional product development is critical to long-term success. Kevin also reflects on the lessons he's learned as a founder, what he would do differently, and what's next for the brand. If you're interested in building a capital-efficient business, redefining a legacy category, or creating products that truly resonate with modern consumers — this episode is for you. Our guest this week grew up like so many of us groms do, Surfing, Skateboarding, and Snowboarding. But for him, snowboarding took the lead, opening doors to sponsorships and, more importantly, a firsthand look at product testing and R&D. That early spark turned into a lifelong path and what has now become an incredible 25-year run in design and product development. He's helped shape product and creative direction for some of the biggest names in outdoor and lifestyle. He spent 13 years at Volcom designing across men's, boys', and outerwear, eventually rising to Global Design Director. From there, he went on to serve as VP of Design and Merchandising at O'Neill, then Design Director and Head Designer at Roark for six years. Along the way, he and his wife also launched their own design and consulting firm, The Designers Geary.About three years ago, he took everything he'd learned, from technical performance to timeless function and built something of his own: SPC/LST, PERSON-built gear for life on the road made with technical materials and functional essentials designed to last a lifetime. We're fired up to sit down and hear about his journey, his creativity, and everything he's learned along the way. Please welcome Mr. Danny " D4" Geary.

Send us Fan MailVOLCANOExpatriated British director Mick Jackson erupts on screen and sets Los Angeles on fire with his latest (to be covered in Season 17 Hacks) blockbuster film VOLCANO (1997). Suffering from a release date only weeks after another volcano disaster movie hit American movie theaters (Dante's Peak), Jackson's big-budget disaster movie flips the script on Threads (covered last week) with competency porn performed by seasoned actors at or some nearing the pinnacle of their career, including Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche and Keith David, as well as up-and-coming stars and character actors, most notably Don Cheadle, in this ensemble film reminiscent of the 70s disaster flicks. The primary focus is Jones' Mike Roark, a divorced workaholic dad saddled at the start of the movie with a vacation and a tween daughter who, by the end of the film, will be unburdened by both when lava erupts and flows the streets of L.A. This surprising disaster leads Jone's Roark as the head of the city's Office of Emergency Management along with his number one Cheadle as the bureau's assistant director and someone named Gator who likely works with them and might have teleportation abilities to team up with the egghead and infrequent glasses-wearing Heche character to divert the lava flow into the ocean with the help of a second-act David as a police lieutenant and a racist 90's LAPD cop (not redundant in this film's world), the LAPD's demolition team, and a self-proclaimed “volcano version of Rodney King” (and no help from the White kid named Tommy). In the process, the city solves racism. This week, Jack's away. Thomas provides alternative tag lines for the film; Ken uncovers information on the 86'ed sequel; and Ryan's left to speculate. His solo debut album, Bad Reputation, is about evolving and earning a reputation that maybe others perceive as bad.
Dr. Janet Roark was raised in Central Michigan. She knew from an early age that she wanted to be a Veterinarian, and started working in a Veterinary Clinic as a teenager. Your beliefs are tools, not truths. In 2006, U.S. Team freestyle skier Michelle Roark zoomed down the slope at her first Olympics, conquering hilly terrain that not even a 4×4 could handle. At 31, she was already years older than the average Olympic freestyle skier (24 years old at the time). She had fought through massive obstacles for half her life to get there.Roark was kicked out of her mother's house when she was 15 and spent the next three years living in a tent in Winter Park, Colorado. She worked three jobs to support herself. At 16, she qualified for the Olympics but sustained a knee injury that kept her out of the 1994 Olympics. Two more serious knee injuries, each right before the Olympic Games in 1998 and 2002, prevented her from competing. At one point, a coach told her she was never going to make it to the Games. But Roark knew what she wanted, believed she was capable of it, and refused to quit. She used the rehab time after her second knee surgery to pursue a degree in chemical engineering, which she eventually used to launch a business that she continues to run today. She competed in the 2010 Olympics at the age of 35.Belief is one of the most powerful forces in our lives. Roark's unflagging belief that she could be an Olympian brought that goal to fruition. In her mind, her Olympic future was inevitable. You can read the Nir And Far blog post on: Unlock Your Potential With The Power Of Belief here.Nir And Far, a podcast about business, behaviour and the brain by Nir Eyal.
