Actor and musician Sam Palladio sits down with Emily to discuss a Metallica t-shirt deciding his fate, what it's like being BFFs with Charles Esten, and his time on the hit series 'Nashville.' Emily gets Sam to re-route his UK tour to the US for her personal benefit, Sam contemplates a career switch to marine-themed children's music, and neither Emily nor Sam can remember where his character from Netflix's 'The Princess Switch' is from, no matter how hard they try. Christmas is coming towards us at an alarming pace, so we continue our Deck the Hallmark month with The Princess Switch (2018). Are you a big Vanessa Hudgens fan? If so, you're in luck, as this film features her twice. However, there is a lot to keep you enchanted, even if you aren't. In this episode, Sam and Calum shamelessly lust over Sam Palladio and pick weird holes in a plot that is already flimsy; such as the problems with judging the baking competition. We discuss the War on Christmas (and how Christmas is clearly winning) Indy pontificates on the classic, but surprisingly solemn, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Samantha recounts the twists, turns, and switches of Netflix's The Princess Switch Trilogy, and we preview next week's festive watch The Muppet Christmas Carol. A Charlie Brown Christmas is a 1965 animated television special. It is the first TV special based on the comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. Produced by Lee Mendelson and directed by Bill Melendez, the program made its debut on CBS on December 9, 1965. In the special, Charlie Brown finds himself depressed despite the onset of the cheerful holiday season. Lucy suggests he direct a neighborhood Christmas play, but his best efforts are ignored and mocked by his peers when he chooses a real, but puny, Christmas tree as a centerpiece. After Linus speaks of the true meaning of Christmas, the neighborhood decorates the tree as a Christmas gift to Charlie Brown. This week we discuss the latest Original Netflix Christmas movies that are pretty much Hallmark movies. The first we dive into is the Princess Switch. This movie stars Vanessa Hudgens and her doppelganger Vanessa Hudgens and their respective romantic interests Sam Palladio and Nick Sagar. Vanessa Hudgens 1 plays a baker who goes to fake Genovia for a world renown baking competition and runs into Vanessa Hudgens 2. There are lots of accents and a lot of confusing love plot lines. The second movie which we call a film is The Holiday Calendar. Kat Graham plays a photographer living in her hometown who is gifted by her grandfather a magic antique advent calendar. Over the course of the movie, she has two men vying for her love Ethan Peck (boo!) and Quincy Brown (yay!) We all have to wait till the haunted holiday calendar lets Kat Graham get with Quincy Brown. And our connection to Peri Gilpin... Kat Graham was in The Holiday Calendar and also in the main cast of The Vampire Diaries (2009) with Matthew Davis. Matthew Davis was also in some episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2013 with Peri Gilpin. If you like reading more than listening we are now doing articles on Medium. This week Chris talks to actor/musician Sam Palladio from the hit tv show "Nashville" about how a Brit got the gig playing a Texas country singer, his first big break in a Barry Manilow themed musical, and of course, Santa Barbara slang.
Singer, songwriter, actor, owner of a truly fantastic head of hair Sam Palladio is best known as Gunnar Scott in the addictive drama series Nashville, but the English native is also a talented musician with a love for the soothing sensitivity of James Taylor. We talk about how he discovered JT and the album 'October Road' during his mother's illness, how James Taylor songs helped him land his Nashville role (and how he almost wound up in a Coen Brothers movie), his connection with members of Taylor's family, the reflective nature of Taylor's contemporary songs and how he sort of "ripped off" one of Taylor's most famous lines for a song he wrote about Ron Sexsmith. Late last year I had some great in studio guests for an even better cause. Nashville resident Trent Dabbs and Nashville cast member Sam Palladio, along with musician Colin Linden, came into the Lightning 100 studio. They chatted about writing together, ABC’s Nashville, and helped raise awareness for the victims of the Typhoon Haiyan. Haiyan was an exceptionally powerful tropical cyclone that devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Phillipines, in early November 2013. It is the deadliest Phillipine Typhoon on record, killing over 6,000 people in that country alone.http://ftp.wrlt.com/production/int/14/SamTrentCollinFULL2013.mp3https://soundcloud.com/lightning100/sam-palladio-trent-dabbs-with
