Outlander star Sam Heughan and his co-star, Jessica De Gouw, from The Couple Next Door join Reshma Gopaldas on Son of a Binge to talk all about their new show, plus Outlander. The season 7 finale of Outlander, 'A Hundred Thousand Angels,' co-starring Caitríona Balfe, aired on Starz Friday, January 17 and left fans of the show on a huge cliffhanger. Heughan and De Gouw talk all about what it was like filming with Eleanor Tomlinson and Alfred Enoch, who play the couple that moves in next door to their characters, Danny and Becka. Heughan and De Gouw reveal what it was like shooting together and how the cast basically fell in love with each other. Heughan also talks about the evolution of love scenes from when he first started on Outlander a decade ago where he and Caitríona Balfe had to navigate sex scenes without an intimacy coordinator. Thanks to the Outlander intimacy coordinator, Vanessa Coffey, his experience on The Couple Next Door was quite different.View the video version here: Sam Heughan & Jessica De Gouw Video InterviewSon of a Binge production credits:Hosted by: Reshma Gopaldas (TW: @reshingbull, IG @reshmago)Producer: Emily Collins (IG @emilem124)Artwork by: Laura Valencia (IG @iamlauravalencia)Music by: Kevin Calaba (IG @airlandsmusic)Send us a text, let us know what shows and guests you want us to cover.

“The Couple Next Door” was one of the many 15-minutes-a day, five-days a week programs that used to fill the airwaves. It was, like “Vic and Sade” a show about “nothing.” It lacks the absurdism of “Vic and Sade,” and that may have made it easier for its audience to relate to. The show was the creation of one woman, Peg Lynch, who wrote and co-starred in every episode. Tonight, we present two representative episodes depicting late 1950s suburban American life. Then, who better to spend Thanksgiving with than the hard-boiled cast of “The Adventures of Sam Spade, Detective”? Someone is trying to kill a man -- a man named Tom Turkey. Episodes The Couple Next Door January 27, 1958 “Is The Couple Married” October 3, 1960 “Living Room Wired For Stereo” 4:10 The Adventures of Sam Spade, Detective November 24, 1950 “The Terrified Turkey Caper” 33:35

The Couple Next Door was a similar Peg Lynch radio series which aired on CBS Radio during the waning days of network radio, (December 30, 1957 – November 25, 1960) with Peg Lynch and Alan Bunce as the married couple. It reprised Ethel and Albert, but the new name was necessitated because Lynch had long since lost the rights to the original title.
