The Yankees come back home tonight down 2-0. The Friday night game was as bad as it gets as far as Aaron Boone affecting the game. Gio thought Gerrit Cole himself should have had a problem with being pulled from that game. Even Edwin Diaz told Carlos Mendoza, ‘No'. And why don't the analytics factor in when a guy hasn't pitched in forever like Nestor Cortes. Then they lose game 2 and Aaron Judge is simply not hitting. Now their backs are up against the walls. Cortes does not pitch in the ninth inning with two men on and superstars coming up. He has not dealt with that as he's a starting pitcher. We went over the various moves that Aaron Boone made that didn't work. The Yankees are actually favored tonight and Boomer said they should be as they have been in both these games. The Yankees have to beat up on Walker Buehler. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Jets losing to the lowly Patriots. The Jets have now lost 5 straight. The Cowboys lost to the Niners and they fall to 3-4. Jameis Winston referenced Eminem after the game. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer wants the Yankees fans to give Judge a standing ovation like the Phillies fans did for Trea Turner.

Toto's Joseph Williams Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson Hold the line! What a way to reenter this arena - with arena rockstar Joseph Williams of Toto! I had the best time - can't stop smiling. Joseph could not have been more accessible, personable, humble, willing, thoughtful, informative… entertaining, and warm––like a fuzzy blanket on a cool summer night. Just loved every minute. I watched quite a few interviews with Joseph to get to know him a bit before sitting down with him. All that I saw were centered around the music of Toto and Joseph's solo work––the songs, the musicians, the concerts. Fascinating! I wanted to know about the kid, the son, the man, the artist, the vocalist, the composer, who thrived, who struggled, who acted out, who cleaned up, and that's exactly what generous Joseph gave us, no holds barred, no lines held, as it were. From his earliest days with his dad, John Williams, making genius in the other room, his actress-singer mother, Barbara Ruick, turning life into songs, he and his siblings performing on cue for their parents' esteemed party guests, and forming their first band, together, picking up his first drink, finding mischief, getting busted, breaking bones, boarding school leading to his first gig… jingles, Vegas, Star Search - one story better than the last - to auditioning for Toto - how he got it, what it meant - how he lost it - what he did to ensure that it would never happen again - composing, scoring- working with a guy named Snuffy, guesting with Toto and Bobby Kimball, rejoining the band in 2010, now he and Lukather the two remaining old guard… full circle - still touring - and miraculously still a Novid! I easily could have chatted with Joseph for hours more. Can't wait till September to see Toto at The Hollywood Bowl and to celebrate Joseph's 64th birthday. He's sober, a grandpa, a good son, making great music, and living his dream. He's honored his legacy. Bravo! Standing O! The Standing O. What a Standing O indeed. Is this Heaven? No, this is Philadelphia. The city of brotherly love. The city where if you own up to something, we got your back through anything. Truly amazing stuff for Trea Turner from the best fans in the world. Yeah, we have issues sometimes, but doesn't everyone? But either way, no other city would die for their players the way Philly does. Phillies fans have showed time and time again why they are the best and it goes back so far, but more recently to last year with Alec Bohm and Nick Castellanos. Yeah, we were hard on them, but it only made them better. They embraced the city and the city embraced them. Droning here, but it had to be said. Anyway, this one starts off with talking about last week's trades and our thoughts on the new guys. Turns out, the Phillies made some decent moves. Especially seeing what Michael Lorenzen brings to the rotation, which should be moving to a 6-man rotation. At least until playoffs. And a great Philly-type guy who had his cell phone fall out of his pocket sliding into third. Nothing more Philly than than right? We talk a bit about the last couple series and the next few that are more than winnable at home and away. Then we finish with some Dad Jokes as always. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL! In today's episode, we are grateful to spend time with Scott MacGregor, who is the CEO of SomethingNew (SomethingNew is an 8-time American Business Award winner for Innovation, which is a record!!! ), the founder of The Outlier Project and 4x author of Standing O! After a long and successful corporate career, Scott took his talents to entrepreneurship where he continues to excel, and make a huge difference in the world. The Outlier Project is a unique membership community for professional development and is for anyone who believes success is found by showing up differently. They are fond of saying, “Anyone can be ordinary”. A special focus of The Outlier Project is to develop leaders who believe that companies and individuals alike succeed or fail based on the quality of the teams they build and the relationships they invest in. Scott and his team call this having a “People Over Everything” mindset. Today's conversation is as real as it gets. It's filled with laughter, wisdom, adversity, resilience, and vulnerability. Scott grew up with a dad who worked hard, very hard. He was a gas station owner, and his mom was a stay-at-home mom who looked after them. Scott learned so much about grit, resilience, and curiosity through his parents. As a 10-year-old, Scott learned early the power of providing excellent customer service. Scott and his wife, Meg, have two sons - Cooper & Tucker.Where things turned powerful was Scott's story of vulnerability surrounding his son Tucker, who faced challenges in the Marine Corps. Scott attributes his son's challenges to a lack of building resilience early, where they might've done too much for him. I hope Scott's personal story will hit home for someone and help them realize you are not alone. As parents, he shares that the adversity we face is a gift. It comes down to choices; we cannot be victims of our circumstances. He explains how they turn their show into a podcast, individual pieces of content, and even key phrases into tweets. He also highlights the importance of experimenting with different channels and mentions how he has doubled down on LinkedIn and hired his daughter to be his TikTok creator-in-chief. Scott MacGregor, on the other hand, takes a different approach and focuses on unscalable methods, such as personal emails and calls to candidates, instead of mass email marketing. He believes that doing things in an offbeat manner works best for him. Ginnette Harvey shares her experience of trying to do it all, which resulted in burnout. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on what works best for you and avoiding spreading yourself too thin. Joel Lalgee thinks creating content always you to scale your 1:1 interaction to a broader audience. “You know you make me want to shout,” that joyful refrain from the Isley Brother's tune “Shout,” is a faint echo from an earlier time. The difference is; the older song has an infinitely more deserving object of adoration. Today Ron Moore plays to that ancient verse and invites you to join him in jubilant singing. The post Giving God a Standing “O” appeared first on The Journey with Ron Moore.
The principle to fulfillment, to dreams coming true, as an Iowa kid, I watched it my whole childhood. It's the concept of sowing and reaping. In order to enjoy the harvest, you first must plant the seeds. This is true in our pursuit of our goals and dreams. We must first sow. Coach D shares several examples of what sowing and reaping looks like in sport. She teaches us about Bloom Moments and that they are only worth it when we sow through the dirt. Find encouragement in this episode and relearn the importance of commitment to a goal. Share with a teammate, coach, and anyone working towards a big dream. Back at the turn of the millennium it was a pretty interesting phenomenon seeing the label “alt-rock” dominate genre preferences. Now, immersed in the status quo of DAWs and MIDI arrangements a full generation later, we’ve come full circle with “alt-pop”. So if you’re on the prowl for the top purveyors of alt-pop right here […]
Joy Warner - An Educated Life Joy Warner is the founder and director of the Community School of Davidson in Davidson, North Carolina. She is a leader, educator, grower of children and a person with strong compassion. Joy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before obtaining a masters in education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her path was a deviation from the traditional model of school leadership leading to a heavy focus on emotional intelligence and growth through the understanding of problems as presented to be solved collectively. We touch on topics such as: Why such a focus on old mentoring young? Why is education more than the book work to you? The students really feel the anti-status quo of grades are everything? Why such a focus on arts? Why such a focus on service work? Why such a focus on leadership? What is the meaning behind the Standing O that is very unique to CSD ? I hope that you enjoy my conversation with Joy Warner, Dr. M
We've received a lot of feedback from residents near Mendon, Missouri where the Amtrak train crashed killing 4. I'll share a couple very personal emails about living in rural places where deadly train accidents are part of life. "Value Them Both" is on the Kansas ballot August 2 and unless there's a smarter way to campaign for the Yes vote, thousands of people are going to read it and have no idea which way to vote. The Kansas City Missouri City Council is going to vote to approve $300 to any city employee that wants an abortion so they can go across the state line into Kansas to have it performed. And something wild happened at the K on Tuesday night as Vinnie Pasquantino made his Major League debut. He got a standing ovation and his appearance also sold a whole bunch of walkup tickets. Also... the LIV Golf tourney this week in Portland has a way better field than the John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour. This is getting interesting.
Scott MacGregor is the founder & CEO of SomethingNew LLC, one of the fastest-growing talent strategy companies in the country. SomethingNew is a record seven-time recipient of the American Business Award for Innovation and winner of Best of Staffing. Growing up, he had dreams of becoming a professional athlete, but a career-ending injury in college forced him to pivot and refocus his energy into business. He was the youngest National Account Manager in the history of Pitney Bowes, a Fortune 500 Company, and at the age of 29, he took a bold leap into the startup world. After 10 years of putting the plan together for SomethingNew, Scott launched the company that redefines talent acquisition and recruiting. In 2020, he asked himself, “How can I give back more? How can I help more people?” The answer to that came in the form of a private membership community called Talent Champions Council. The idea behind the community was to teach leadership principles, spread his ‘People Over Everything' mantra, and help industry leaders uplevel their businesses. In just two short years, the platform has amounted to over 500 members in 29 countries, and hosted 140 live, interactive events. When Scott came up with the idea for SomethingNew, he was dedicated to building a company that gave back. He was able to combine his passion for learning about people's unique stories and philanthropy by publishing the Standing O! books. Each book features prominent CEOs, professional athletes, bestselling authors, Olympians, military leaders, and more who share chapters of gratitude for life lessons learned, and 100% of the proceeds go to charity. The books have supported amazing organizations such as, Elevate New York, Look for the Good Project, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Blankets of Hope, and Warrior Rising.
