Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma has been making headlines this week as he steps into a groundbreaking role at New York Fashion Week, becoming the first Mexican ambassador named by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center. The Guadalajara native joined supermodel Anok Yai and Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko as one of three ambassadors for the prestigious fashion event running from September 11th through 16th.The appointment represents a significant milestone for Mexican representation in high fashion, with the CFDA recognizing Peso Pluma's influence that extends far beyond music charts into cultural taste-making. His presence at the official kickoff cocktail at Bar SixtyFive at the Rainbow Room Wednesday evening alongside fashion heavyweights Anna Wintour, Thom Browne, Michael Kors, and Anna Sui signals his crossover appeal from regional Mexican music star to global style icon.Getty Images captured Peso Pluma attending the Off-White fashion show on September 12th with fellow artist Kenia Os at the New Design High School, cementing his active participation throughout Fashion Week rather than just ceremonial appearances. This follows his earlier front-row appearance at Thom Browne, showing his growing integration into fashion's inner circle.Meanwhile, Billboard announced major recognition for Peso Pluma at the upcoming Latin Music Awards on October 23rd. With nine nominations, he's competing for Artist of the Year and Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year Male categories, while his album Exodo earned multiple nods. His collaboration with cousin Tito Double P on Dos Dias secured nominations for Hot Latin Song of the Year Vocal Event and Regional Mexican Song of the Year. The timing is particularly potent given Peso Pluma's record-breaking achievements this year, including becoming the first artist to simultaneously lead both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excluding US charts with different songs. His Grammy-winning album Genesis set streaming records, and he made history as the first Mexican to perform at the VMAs and the first to sing corridos at the EMAs.These developments underscore Peso Pluma's evolution from regional sensation to global cultural ambassador, with his Fashion Week appointment potentially opening doors for other Latin artists in luxury fashion spaces while his continued chart dominance solidifies his position as the undisputed king of música Mexicana.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI
Peso Pluma BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Peso Pluma's ascent over the past few days reads like a whirlwind of historic firsts and high-wattage headlines, blending global fashion influence with undeniable music power. According to multiple outlets including Hombre1, Hola, and QueOnda, Peso Pluma has just been named the first-ever Mexican-American ambassador for New York Fashion Week by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This isn't a ceremonial title; it positions him centre stage as NYFW launches its Spring/Summer 2026 season at Rockefeller Center, joining a select cadre including club CFDA Chairman Thom Browne, mega-designers Michael Kors and Anna Sui, and co-ambassadors Young Miko and Anok Yai. Fashion insiders say his appointment marks a cultural shift—Peso Pluma is now the face of NYFW, spotlighting Latin music's growing influence beyond playlists and stadiums.Social media chatter and entertainment headlines are buzzing about his presence, as he'll be featured throughout NYFW Live at Rockefeller Center, broadcast events running September 11–16 and connecting American collections with the broader public for the first time. Peso Pluma's ambassador status comes on top of a breakout year: Hola reminds us that he's up for nine awards at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year Male, and several nominations for his album Exodo. His recent single releases, including Morena (Remix) with Tiësto and Netón Vega and Desvelada with Oscar Maydon, are pulling big streaming numbers and drawing attention for their genre-blending sound—a fusion of classic Mexican corridos, EDM, and urban pop.In fashion, Peso Pluma's style clout has been on full display. Earlier this year, he debuted at Thom Browne's Fall/Winter show in signature threads, confirming his crossover appeal as both sartorial tastemaker and pop star. Public discussion on platforms like Instagram, X, and TikTok continues to amplify his public image, with fans and fashionistas alike sharing clips of his NYFW appearances and new festival bookings. On the business front, Billboard and Telemundo confirm his role as label boss at Double P Records in partnership with George Prajin, signaling a shift toward mentorship and industry leadership. Meanwhile, previous performance visas—and those of other Latin stars—were reportedly at risk due to tightened U.S. immigration rules, as reported by KNPR, but no verified accounts indicate any recent interruption in Peso Pluma's U.S. activity. In sum, Peso Pluma's latest milestones at New York Fashion Week and his nominations at the Billboard Latin Music Awards underline a transformative moment—not just for his résumé, but for the profile of música Mexicana and Latin culture worldwide. If there's speculation, it's simply about who he'll collaborate with next or which runway he'll conquer. For now, his star is burning brighter than ever, with every headline, streaming chart, and fashion week snapshot doubling as evidence.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

As a kid growing up in Nipissing, Ont., Christian Allaire dreamed of being part of the glamorous world that he saw in his mother's Vogue magazines. Now, he's the senior fashion and style writer at Vogue in New York. Christian writes about that incredible journey in his new memoir, “From the Rez to the Runway.” He sits down with Tom Power to talk about how powwow regalia and jingle dance dresses were his first exposure to the fashion world, the racism he encountered throughout his time in the fashion industry, and how he embraced his Ojibwe identity as his cool factor. If you like this conversation, you'll probably also enjoy Tom's interview with fashion designer Anna Sui.
One day, you're just a girl moving to New York from Canada with a visa and a dream, and a few years down the line, you're an in-demand industry success story. Such is the case with this week's guest. Alyssa sits down with Ariella Starkman, founder and executive producer of the full-service creative production company Starkman & Associates, as well as the managing director at HommeGirls, to learn all about the wild world of production. You've likely seen one (or several) of Ariella's events come across your Instagram or TikTok feed, as she and her team have built out experiences for some of the coolest, most sought-after brands on the scene, including Anna Sui, Dazed, Kim Shui, Luar, Nike, Sky High Farm, Stussy, Telfar, Vans, and Warby Parker. At a time when everyone is getting into the IRL activations game, Ariella operates under the philosophy that chic events are a dime a dozen, and making people feel like their time has been considered when they show up for something is crucial. Tune in to hear how Bravo's “Gallery Girls” inspired Ariella to start a career in the art world and led her to produce her first event in her early 20s, a warehouse art show in Toronto; how time is our most valuable resource and making experiences worthwhile through the details is her company's guiding principle; navigating the attention economy as a creative and a business owner; the importance of never phoning anything in; the dangers of “compare and despair;” why being the first person to do something is a double-edged sword, but while people may copy you, the sauce is not replicable; how to create a sense of curiosity by finding new, unexpected event spaces; why building a tight-knit professional community is key to finding meaning in your work; why at the end of the day, it's just not that serious, and much more. This episode was recorded in the podcast studio at The SQ @ 205 Hudson. I had the privilege of having a conversation with Anna Sui - one of the original independent designers who has conquered every category from ready-to-wear to beauty and fragrance…she's always been way ahead of her time. But, in spite of the seemingly strategic way her business has unfolded over the past 40 years, she assured me that “there was no master plan”
This weeks episode is definitely a special one!!! We have the one and only Joseph Abboud. Joseph is an American menswear fashion designer and author. I would put him on the top of the list right next to Ralph Lauren, Versaci, Tommy Hilfiger and any other mens fashion designer. The National Arts Club has been awarding its Medal of Honor to some of fashion's biggest names since 2003, starting with Geoffrey Beene and including Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson, Norma Kamali and Anna Sui. But it has never honored a menswear designer. That will change Friday night when Joseph Abboud is singled out for his illustrious career in the men's industry. Abboud joined Ralph Lauren in 1981, eventually becoming associate director of menswear design. He launched his own label in spring 1987. In 1988, JA Apparel was created as a joint venture between Abboud and GFT (Gruppo Finanziario Tessile) USA. The designer, who graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Boston and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, got his start in fashion at the Louis Boston men's store in his hometown before working for Ralph Lauren as a menswear designer. He launched his namesake brand in 1987.

Won't Take No For An Answer… For decades, Anna Sui has tapped into and helped define youth culture, grunge lifestyle, and rock-n-roll romanticism. Her baby-doll dresses, made iconic by Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington, reflected the changing tides ahead of the new millennium. Today, the multi-award-winning legend of fashion still produces all her clothes in NYC's Garment District and maintains the highest quality standards across her many product lines and licenses. She was an honored guest at SCAD Style 2023, from where today, Paula Wallace invites us all into the world of Anna Sui.
Fashion journalist, writer, and broadcaster Tim Blanks has had a front-row seat to many defining, pivotal moments in the fashion industry since 1985. Throughout his prolific career, he has witnessed countless transformational trends, with his byline appearing in international magazines and newspapers, including Vogue, GQ, Financial Times, Fantastic Man, and Interview. Previously, host of the globally syndicated television show Fashion File for a 20-year stint, he was as well editor-at-large at style.com. Today, he is editor-at-large of Business of Fashion and a celebrated author and contributor to various monographs and volumes on fashion royalty, such as Anna Sui, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, and Michael Roberts. In this lively conversation with Christopher Michael, he contextualizes trends related to everything from branding and sustainability to creative talents and human needs, which attract people to the art of fashion. Tim's insights reflect a unique perspective on the industry's evolution and a deep, intuitive understanding of the vulnerabilities and desire for validation that drive even the most successful industry icons. Although Tim celebrates the fault lines he sees redefining today's fashion landscape with new inclusive language and geographic diversity, he also spotlights global issues such as social and environmental justice, prompting a reckoning of sorts within the fashion industry—and the world at large. Ultimately, it's all about keeping creatives relevant in an era of turbocharged change and adaptation. Episode Highlights: Starting out: Starting university at age 15 helped him evade bullying and launched his experience of making “all those mistakes that change your life.” Connecting with fashion: Tim's limited exposure to fashion while coming into adulthood in New Zealand when he realized images had the power to shock or amaze. First rung: A detour into filmmaking in Canada eventually morphed into freelance writing and, ultimately, a full-time gig at a fashion magazine and a high-visibility role hosting the global TV show Fashion File. Staying fresh: Keeping something of an outsider's perspective has helped blunt any cynicism about the fashion industry. Inside-outsider: The curiosity—and an eye inspired by filmmaking—has defined Tim's unique approach to fashion's personalities and untold stories. Reflecting and projecting: Fashion has a dual role as a mirror of culture and a harbinger of social trends on the horizon. Community of misfits: Tim believes fashion has historically drawn outsiders, agitators, and visionaries into a tribe bound by creative energy. A circus. A roving family! Human longing: The “hole in our soul” Tim believes we are constantly trying to fill or offset with validation from our peers—an impulse at odds with how social media actually makes us feel. Stand-out moments: Witnessing an interview in which LouLou de la Falaise was the translator for a reluctant Yves St. Laurent; 90s runway shows that were cultural high points, including spectacular shows featuring Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Christian Lacroix; and getting the opportunity to talk to Helmut Lang for the first time. Assessing AI: Tim believes that ChatGPT and other machine learning could create informational bridges and—with good intent—positive, beneficial results. At odds: The challenge to reconcile environmentally wasteful “gigantism” and corporate sustainability in the billion-dollar corporate branding and production world. What's contemporary now? Simmering rage, confusion, chaos, fear, an urge to fight, and a puzzlingly benign (rather than punk) attitude in fashion in contrast to the climate crisis, political unrest, and pandemic fallout. What should be contemporary now? A revolutionary spirit to fuel change, even at great lengths. It's time for idealism coupled with pragmatism, expressing itself in action—with fashion playing a part.

By the mid 90's, New York City had married the European couturier model with the commercial power of Seventh Avenue, and had begun to overshadow Paris and Milan as the most important fashion capital in the world. Around the same time, a downtown school of designers and cultural figures began to react against the corporatized, uptown school, establishing a second, and equally as powerful vein of American fashion that exists even today. Voices featured, in order of appearance: Sandra Bernhard, Claire Danes, Julia Stiles, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Isaac Mizrahi, Thirstin Howl III, Kristin Davis, Calvin Klein, Meg Ryan, Ryan McGinley, Kim Gordon, Yukie Ohta, Anna Sui, Laird Borelli-Persson, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Francisco Costa, Fern Mallis, and Mark Holgate. The 90s brought a backlash to the lingering decadence of the 80s. This was the birth of grunge. As supermodels rose to prominence, so did this counterculture, which emphasized anti-fashion and rejection of superficiality. But can anyone be exempt from fashion? Episode 2: Grunge Strikes Back features guest interviews with Marc Jacobs, Kim Gordon, Anna Sui, Cathy Horyn, Grace Coddington, Camilla Nickerson, Tonne Goodman, Kimberly Jenkins, and Megan Jasper. From Vogue's editorial team: Mark Holgate, Laird Borrelli-Persson, and Nicole Phelps. See Marc Jacobs 1993 Spring/Summer collection for Perry Ellis here. Batsheva Hay has found success in the fashion industry by simply making what she likes. In 2016, she launched the dress brand Batsheva, which has seen accelerated growth since the start of the pandemic. “I didn't set out to get into fashion at all,” Hay said on the latest episode of the Glossy Podcast. “I was actually a lawyer … and quit my job. And then I got excited to get dressed again in the way that I wanted, which included wearing lots of vintage clothing. I kept on going back to this thrifted Laura Ashley dress that I was just wearing to shreds… I found a pattern maker to remake it, but by that point, I'd changed [the concept] so much that it became a whole other Frankenstein creation. And that was the start, in my head, of wanting to make more.” And thus, Batsheva was born. Luckily for Hay, her original concept proved to be popular during the pandemic. “At first, [everyone] was all about wearing sweatpants, sweatpants, sweatpants,” she said. “But then I started this idea of the house dress, or a printed dress that's really cozy for home. And that's become a huge chunk of my business.” Batsheva hit a lot of radars when Ella Emhoff, Kamala Harris's stepdaughter, wore the brand to the 2021 inauguration. According to Hay, the resulting brand awareness worked wonders to drive sales: “I didn't know that it would be so huge. I got a big sales boost from it that I was not really prepared for.” Since, Batsheva has collaborated with brands including Anna Sui and expanded to new categories including furniture. Next, though she's never taken in outside investment, Hay is considering fundraising as she works toward becoming this generation's Laura Ashley. “That's what I'm hoping for,” she said of the goal. “That's on my vision board.”

I love this woman! Formerly a Hollywood Marketing Executive, Celebrity Chef Katie Chin pivoted her career when her mother reintroduced her to cooking (and eating!) Together they wrote a cookbook and had their own PBS cooking show filmed in Hawaii. Sadly, her mother passed but Katie kept going. She started her own catering business called Wok Star Catering and has cooked for Cyndi Lauper, Nate Berkus, Anna Sui, Sandra Oh and a host of other celebs. She has been a judge on Iron Chef! She has cooked at the White House and met the Obamas. (What a cute encounter she had with them!) In March of 2020 when the pandemic hit and events stopped, Katie started a virtual cooking show with her daughter on a whim. This led to a whole new business. Katie has written 5 cookbooks. Her latest "Katie Chin's Global Family Cookbook" just came out on June 22nd. The book is a celebration of diversity and inclusion with food. I can't wait for you to hear her story and find out what she has learned along the way. Approaching four decades of working together, fashion designer Anna Sui and R+Co co-founder Garren often set the tone for where hair and fashion are going. Having met in the '80s through photographer Steven Meisel on a shoot for Italian Vogue, the two creatives had a mind-meld that couldn't be broken. At the time, Sui worked as a wardrobe stylist, but her aesthetic was clear: “Anna was really into pattern on pattern on pattern on pattern, and I was just watching her, how she was absorbing everything,” says Garren. “And, then there was a moment when Steven said to her, ‘You need to start designing.'” Naturally, Garren became part of the team to perfect Sui's first fashion show, which starred all of the supermodels of the time—think: Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. And the duo still collaborates today, the latest project being Sui's exclusive ocelot-print robe for R+Co BLEU. Here, the two chat about the robe's history as well as the thought that went into creating it.
Anna Sui is a former Canadian National Fencer, competing for 10 years at many World Cups, Grand Prix, three World Championships, and three Pan Am Championships, most recently being in 2015 in Toronto, Canada. Anna completed a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University, Canada and is currently completing her PhD. In this episode, Anna shares her experience being an athlete and student with Bipolar. Moreover, Anna shares her advice on the different strategies that one can use to help cope with their mental health. Finally, Anna also shares her thoughts on how sports is becoming more open minded to having athletes speak up about their mental health conditions.
In the small naval town of Annapolis, Maryland, today's guests began designing clothing at the young age of 7. In his teenage years, he quickly realized that this intense love for fashion and design could only be nurtured by moving away from home. At seventeen, he did just that and moved to New York City to study at FIT, where he earned his BFA in fashion design. Over the next seven years, this designer would refine his skills while working for the likes of Anna Sui, Tommy Hilfiger, and Ralph Lauren where he honed his eye for sartorial craftsmanship, explored his interest in the history of American sportswear, and continued to cultivate his own distinct aesthetic. In 2009, he launched his independent neckwear line, David Hart & Co. and over the following years he debuted his first full ready-to-wear collection in 2013 under the label DAVID HART. He prides himself on creating confident yet approachable clothing for the modern gentleman. With every collection, Hart consistently lends a modern eye with a nostalgic twist. Each piece is infused with history and classic details that come to life in a very fresh way. His designs have earned him countless fashion awards and he was even named one of the Best Menswear Designers in America by GQ Magazine in 2015. My guest today is David Hart, Owner & Artistic Director of his self-entitled menswear label. We caught up this week to chat about what it was like growing up in the tiny town of Annapolis, the importance of finding a balance between art and business, and how hard work leads to key moments that help grow your brand!
