The Joint Readiness Training Center is pleased to present the fifty-first episode to air on ‘The Crucible - The JRTC Experience.' Hosted by the Commander of Ops Group (COG), COL Matthew Hardman. Today's guests are two seasoned, former command sergeant majors, CSM(R) Adam Nash and CSM(R) Curt Donaldson. CSM(R) Nash is the former 4th Infantry Division Command Sergeant Major. CSM(R) Donaldson is the former 75th Ranger Regiment Command Sergeant Major, known as the Regimental Sergeant Major.   The 4th Infantry Division is a division of the United States Army based at Fort Carson, Colorado and was established in 1917 as a key member of the American Expeditionary Force for World War I. They have the Hollywood call-sign of “Iron Horse,” but are commonly called “Ivy Division,” and the motto of “Steadfast & Loyal.” The 75th Ranger Regiment, also known as Army Rangers or simply as Ranger Regiment, is the premier light infantry unit and special operations raid force within the United States Army Special Operations Command. Their lineage dates back to Roger's Rangers during the French and Indian War in the 18th Century. Their motto is “Sua Sponte” or “Of Their Accord,” with their daily greeting of “Rangers Lead the Way.”   In this episode we discuss warfighting on the modern battlefield, the process of developing junior leaders, and the need to focus leaders on combat mindset. Specifically we talk changing our units' fighting spirit from focused on garrison life to preparing for war. The modern Soldier's mindset must embrace the warrior spirit as it is vital to success on the battlefield. Every Soldier from the individual rifleman in a fire team through to the staff at brigade, must change their mindset from “going to JRTC” or “going to the range” to “going to war” because that mindset is what's going to win the day. Senior leaders have to prioritize establishing and maintaining a leader development program within their units. This includes mentorship between non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers, especially as it applies to standards.   Part of S01 “The Leader's Laboratory” series.   For additional information and insights from this episode, please check-out our Instagram page @the_jrtc_crucible_podcast   Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with the latest warfighting TTPs learned through the crucible that is the Joint Readiness Training Center.   Follow us by going to: https://linktr.ee/jrtc and then selecting your preferred podcast format.   Again, we'd like to thank our guests for participating. The Joint Readiness Training Center is pleased to present the fifth episode to air on ‘The Crucible - The JRTC Experience.' Hosted by the Commander of Ops Group (COG), COL Matthew Hardman. Today's guests are the command sergeant major of 3rdBattalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, CSM Christopher Masters and the operations sergeant major, MSG Patrick Bailey. 3/75 RGR has a distinguished record since the battalion's formation in 1984 but can trace its lineage back to Roger's Rangers during the French and Indian War and later back to the creation of 3rdBattalion during the North African Campaign of World War II. It was during D-Day of WWII that their unofficial motto of “Rangers Lead the Way” as they spearheaded the landing on Dog White Sector. Keeping with their heritage of often finding themselves alone, behind enemy lines, their official Regimental motto is “Sua Sponte” or “Of Their Own Accord.” Known as the world's premier light infantry fighting force, Ranger Regiment specializes in joint special operations raids and joint forcible entry operations deep inside enemy territory in support of our country's policies and objectives. Today I am talking to Frank Schwartz. He is the current president of F3. He is also an entrepreneur, but he started this journey by joining F3 with the intent of “not being fat anymore”. The complete trajectory of his life would change, however, from that point. He caught the vision of Sua Sponte leadership and in not too long a time, he found himself being asked to help with things at the Nation level. At the beginning of 2020, he began serving as the first ever President of F3 Nation, under the re-organized F3 structure. Because of the dramatic effect of F3 on his life, he founded a leadership training consultancy in December of 2019, called G3L Leadership. G3L takes all the learnings from F3, as well as the training in communication, leadership, and Psychology that Frank has taken in his undergraduate and Graduate studies and puts it all together to help organizations create leaders. Frank has been a successful entrepreneur prior to his starting of G3L, founding LEC Media in 2007, a corporate communications and video firm in Charlotte, NC which served clients like, Bank of America, Electrolux, Honeywell, and others. He also serves in leadership in his church and community, is the husband of his far better half Tracy for the past 20 years and is the father of three wonderful red-headed daughters (ages 16, 14, and 10). In our years together, we experienced the full spectrum of life, far too many to list. Josh is the finest example of what a Special Operator is. He was the Ranger buddy I needed as a 18 year old with no life experience. He taught me more than I would ever give him credit for. Josh owned a CrossFit gym post service. Josh actually got his L1 Cert on the weekend during his HALO course! Josh also served as Cadre for GoRuck where he was known as Cadre Rooney. Josh's favorite quote - and really his outlook on life was "Sua Sponte do what you wantay". Sua Sponte is the motto of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Sua Sponte is latin for "of their own accord". George Diaz is the founder and Manager of Sua Sponte Design LLC a Graphic Design Screen Printing & Embroidery company out of Visalia California.  George founded 2 companies specializing in Graphic Design, Screen Printing, Embroidery and Friction Wrist Wraps. Tune in to his story, learn classic insights on business, and hear where you too can avail of his products! George Diaz- From Military to Contract Work George spent a total of 6 years in the army. He spent his last year with a long range reconnaissance unit in Texas. The army was trying to reenlist him, but he was ready to try other things. So, he went home and did contract work for 2 years. His first work was installing a CRM system, and the second was doing diplomatic security. Eventually, he decided to end contract work and return home to be with his family. “I started watching youtube videos about printing shirts and different things.  That is how I came up with the idea and when I got home I bought my first press and haven’t looked back since.” - George Diaz The Start of a Business George had the business idea while he was still in Afghanistan. He already had a lot of experiences in the business sector. His friend advised him to do something unique. That was when he thought about printing shirts that sent out a message. By 2012, he started his own company called Sua Sponte which means “of its own accord”.  Additionally, he has another brand called Memorial Wraps. Memorial Wraps, Hats, Jackets, Promotional Products Memorial Wraps is the primary brand and is a fitness brand.  They manufacture friction wrist wraps to honor fallen soldiers, policemen and firefighters.  George has a dedicated machine to this brand as it is a lot of embroidery. This is the standard method of producing the wraps. Now the business has expanded into hats, jacket, promotional products as the business has grown.  This includes a direct to garment printer and sublimation printer, new technology that produces a more durable print. “The great thing about business is you really only need to be right one time.  You can fail a thousand times but if you get it right one time that is all that matters.” - George Diaz To hear about more about Sua Sponte Design with Army Veteran George Diaz, download and listen to the entire episode.
