David Andry returns to the podcast to chat with Jimmy about his new Mad Cave series Crush Depth. David and Tim Daniel have written a fascinating story of a submarine crew, isolated for years from the surface, and on the cusp of discovering something terrible. Issue 1 is about as good as it gets to establish the world, build tension, and then Artist Alex Sanchez delivers phenomenal artwork both beautiful and unsettling. David and Jimmy chat Morning Star, why Crush Depth made sense as a follow-up, his writing partnership with Tim Daniel, and some of those great 80s/90s underwater series like The Abyss, Leviathan, DeepStar Six, and The Rift. It's always a pleasure to have David on the podcast. FOC (Final Order Cutoff) for Crush Depth is February 24th so make sure to tell your LCS to add it to your pull list by then. Issue 1 comes out March 19th. From Mad Cave Studios Two brothers locked in a sibling rivalry wrestle for command of a massive nuclear submarine, The Absolution, in a near future irrevocably altered by climate change. Chief Science Officer Liana Pearson finds herself not only caught between the Wilder brothers but drowning in her fear of the surface world. When something alien infiltrates The Absolution and upends the balance of power, Liana is left with only two deadly options--reaching the toxic surface world or steering the sub into the unforgiving abyss and crush depth-Breathe Deep! It's been a rough stretch for the good guys, and of course, we had to get to the bottom of it. In the first half of this episode Nate rants about The Bad, The Good, and What Comes Next for the big league club. Rounding things out in the second half, Tim Daniel sits down with Nick Curran, Broadcast Director and Play-By-Play voice of the Louisville Bats. Together they try to figure out who on the AAA club can help the Reds break out of their malaise. Nate and Chad were joined by Tim Daniel of Late Night Reds to revel in the play of the 14-10 Cincinnati Reds! And of course they had to go deep on how absolutely absurd Elly De La Cruz has been playing. They also talked through why this team hasn't come close to reaching it's potential and why Tyler Stephenson and CES might be about to get HOT! After current events, the gang had some (okay, a lot of) fun drafting their favorite Reds players of all time! They made it a little tougher on themselves using unique categories from which to draft. It was a blast going down memory lane with stories and anecdotes from some certified inner-circle Reds Hall of Famers! Drew Stubbs was a first-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds who patrolled center field from 2009 to 2012, a really fun era of Reds baseball. Stubbs joined Tim Daniel this week on Late Night Reds Talk to discuss his big league career, his memories of the 2010 and 2012 seasons when the Reds won the NL Central, and what really went down during that memorable Brandon Phillips-induced fight with the Cardinals. We're one week into the Reds season, and it's time to completely and utterly overreact to every single thing that has happened through the first five games of the campaign. Is Jason Vosler the greatest player in history? Is Will Benson the worst player in history? Chad and Nate were joined by Tim Daniel to recap everything and engage in another edition of Buy-Sell-Hold. The Ghost That Ate Us questions if you remember the brutal crime of on small town... Maybe you read about it on Twitter. Maybe a friend sent you a news clip. Maybe you saw it on an episode of Spectral Journeys that night you were flipping through channels, unable to sleep. Maybe after reading the true story, you won't ever sleep again. On June 1, 2017, six people were killed at a Burger City franchise off I-80 near Jonny, Iowa. It was the bizarre and gruesome conclusion to nine months of alleged paranormal activity at the fast-food joint—events popularly known as “the Burger City Poltergeist.” The story inspired Facebook memes, Twitter hashtags, Buzzfeed listicles, Saturday Night Live sketches, and more. But the case was never much more than a punchline…until bestselling writer Daniel Kraus (The Shape of Water, The Living Dead) decided to head to Iowa to dig up what really happened. Presented here is the definitive story of “the most exhaustively documented haunting in history,” including—for the first time ever—interviews with every living survivor of the tragedy. The employees of Burger City were a family. They loved one another. At least, at the beginning. But love can make you do unspeakable things. Turns out that The Ghost That Ate Us is a fictional story written by Daniel Kraus, it just took Dan some time to catch up on that in this interview. Dan and Dan get into the details about building a fast food franchise from scratch. Daniel talks about things that have been inspiring him. The book is out on July 12th from Raw Dog Screaming Press. Pre-order the book here to learn all about the poltergeist that changed one small town forever. You can find Daniel on his website here. The cover design of The Ghost That Ate Us was done by Tim Daniel of Second Rocket Comics. (Tim also designed our logo as well!)
