Welcome to The Spark, your creative pick-me-up from The Creative Boom Podcast. Every Thursday, we bring you a shorter, snappier episode to give you that midweek boost of inspiration. From creative news to practical tips and book recommendations, The Spark has everything you need to keep your creative energy flowing. Whether you're looking for a quick shot of creativity or insights to carry you through the week, we've got you covered. In this episode, we looked back at Monday's insightful interview with Seema Sharma, a creative director from the Netherlands and co-author of The New Creatives. Seema's unique collaboration with AI sparked a fascinating conversation about how technology is changing the future of creativity. One key takeaway? As AI grows more prevalent, the need for human connection and authenticity in design has never been stronger. In Creative News, we covered the big headlines, starting with the news that Rankin's agency The Full Service has filed for bankruptcy. Rankin pointed to the challenges of reduced budgets and the rise of AI, which are changing the traditional advertising landscape. In gaming, 343 Industries has officially rebranded as Halo Studios, signalling new projects ahead, all developed with Unreal Engine 5. Meanwhile, Epic Games has announced Unreal Engine 6 to power the next wave of metaverse experiences. Finally, Google has launched a new feature that lets users search the internet by simply recording a video—AI is certainly transforming how we search online. For The Spotlight, we explored the future of audio-visual design in our feature article Key Trends in Audio-Visual Design: What's Next for 2025. We dive into immersive AR and VR experiences, AI-generated visuals, and the growing emphasis on emotional intelligence in audio design. Brands are getting smarter at using sound to connect with audiences on a deeper level, and we're excited to see where this trend takes us. Our Book of the Week is a biography of the iconic Lee Miller, a trailblazing photographer and inspiration behind the upcoming film Lee, starring Kate Winslet. Written by her son Antony Penrose, The Lives of Lee Miller gives an intimate look at her many lives—from Vogue cover girl to war correspondent—and features some of her finest work. A must-read for anyone passionate about creativity and history. In honour of National Work-Life Week, our Tip of the Week is all about balancing your career and creativity. From setting clear boundaries to making time for personal projects, we shared practical strategies for avoiding burnout. One great tip? Use "calendar blocking" to allocate time for work, creative pursuits, and relaxation to keep your life in balance. For our Letters to the Editor this week, we heard from Christine Smith of Warfield Smith Design, who shared her thoughts on Tom Cunningham's article about "blue collar designers." Christine reflected on her own journey from big NYC and LA agencies to working directly with decision-makers in upstate New York—a path that, she says, has been refreshing and rewarding. What about you? What do you think? We'd love to hear from you! If you have any thoughts on this episode or anything else from the show, drop us a line at letters@creativeboom.com, and we might feature your email in next week's episode of The Spark.

Parent would like Haldane football to have caps The deaths this month of prep football players in Alabama and West Virginia have brought attention to how best to protect players from head trauma. Some area high school teams, such as Dover and O'Neill, provide players during practices and scrimmages with soft Guardian Caps that fit over their helmets to provide cushioning. But Haldane and Beacon do not use the caps, which cost $70 to $125 each and reduce the impact of hits by up to 33 percent, according to their manufacturer. Tom Corless, whose sons Brody and Cooper play football for Haldane, said he is talking with the Cold Spring Fire Co. about a fundraiser to purchase caps for both the modified and varsity teams. Tom Cunningham, Haldane's athletic director, said the feedback he's heard from players and coaches at schools who use the caps has been "overwhelmingly positive," adding he will request funding for the caps as part of the next budget cycle. According to Guardian Sport, its cap is used by more than 500 colleges, 5,000 high schools and every NFL team. The NFL mandates their use in contact practices, and some players wear them in preseason games. Robert Zayas, the executive director of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, said the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) allows the Guardian Cap but does not require it. "NFHS can't say whether wearing the cap will void the manufacturer's warranty on the helmet," he said. "School districts need to be aware of that."

In today's episode (that will be in two parts) I'm joined by my wise husband, Tom, and we give an update on what's happening in Canada (it's insane), and we do a deep dive into the many atrocities committed by Hillary Clinton both in and out of office--remember she was in Obama's cabinet. It's relevant because she was just revealed to have been spying on a seated president. Like him or not, Trump was an elected president and she was a private citizen. I cannot overstate the scandal. Then we'll tie up (in part two) how this all leads to Russia and their brilliant move into Ukraine. Check out my book about going from an atheist to a Christian! The audiobook! Metro Atlanta Chamber SVP and Chief Economist Tom Cunningham on Georgia Business Radio Tom Cunningham, SVP and Chief Economist Metro Atlanta Chamber Thomas J. Cunningham is Senior Vice President and the Chief Economist for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC). Tom joined the MAC in July 2015 following a 30-year career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He is a specialist in open economy macroeconomic policy and regional analysis. At the MAC, he manages an internal team that supports the research and advocacy roles of the economic development and public policy departments. After starting his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta as an economist in the Macropolicy group, Tom served at various times as associate director of research, interim director of research, vice president for the Regional group where he was also responsible for the Latin American group, and acting head of the Finance group. He served on the Bank's Personnel, Information Technology, and Risk Management Committees and as a member of the Federal Reserve System's Information Security Group and Technology Services Council. He also was the acting director of, and helped establish, the Bank's Center for Real Estate Analytics. When Dr. Cunningham retired from the Fed, his title was Vice President, Senior Economist and Regional Executive. A native of Reedley, California, he received a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in economics from California State University, Fresno. He earned a master's degree, a master of philosophy, and a PhD in economics from Columbia University. He previously worked as an economics instructor at Barnard College at Columbia University and as an adjunct instructor at Iona College, Agnes Scott College and Emory University. He attended the executive development program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and is a member of Leadership Atlanta's class of 2018. Dr. Cunningham has published numerous professional articles and is a member of the American Economic Association, the Western Economic Association, and the Southern Economic Association. Topics to Discuss: National Employment Situation report contains some solid numbers, but mixed headlines. The solid numbers are in job gains, where the nation added 213,000 jobs, well above the market expectation of around 190,000. Revisions to the two previous months added another 37,000 jobs. The mixed part of the report is that the headline is the unemployment rate (U3) ticked up from 3.8% to 4.0%. The expectation was for no change. This was mostly due to an increase in the labor force participation, which moved up 0.2 percentage points after being essentially unchanged since February. At this point the economy needs the additional workers, so this is a fundamentally good thing. The broader measure of labor underutilization (U6) also rose 0.2 percentage points to 7.8%. Average hourly earnings rose 2.7% from a year ago, slightly below expectations, but about in line with recent history. Jobs gains were led by professional and business services, followed by manufacturing, which had a solid 30,000 job addition, mostly in durable goods. Strength was also seen in health care, construction, and mining. Retail was the only sector with a notable loss of jobs (-22,000), but that did not offset last month's gain of 25,000. Other sectors were essentially unchanged. All in all, a pretty good report, despite an easily misinterpreted rise in unemployment. Media Links: Web Site:   www.MetroAtlantaChamber.com Guest Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-cunningham-6027134 Georgia Business Radio Interviewing industry and thought leaders with compelling stories. The then Chief of Staff (Aviation and Carriers) gives his audience a masterful guide to the past, present and future of air power at sea, starting from when the aircraft carrier displaced the battleship as the Royal Navy's capital ship to looking forward to the commissioning of the Queen Elizabeth Class of carrier. Admiral Cunningham begins by listing the firsts achieved by the Royal Naval Air Service and how it evolved from the launch of the Mayfly in 1909, through into World War I and into the "fallow" inter-war years when the United States and Japan took the lead. He then outlines the resurgence of British Maritime Air Power during World War II and its importance in both the Mediterranean and Pacific theatres and subsequent conflicts, including the Korean War and the Falklands Conflict. Turning to the contemporary world, Cunningham notes how many developing nations recognise the importance of Maritime Air Power and have a Carrier Programme. He comments on the demise of HMS Ark Royal and the Harrier and looks ahead to the technical challenges of operating the Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers, which were then due to be in service in 2019. He highlights the need to integrate the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft with the various radars on the ship, the key role of officers in the control room and the need to gain experience with the US Navy during the intervening years. He concludes by stressing the need for Maritime Air Power as an offensive and defensive element of a persistent and self-sufficient fleet at sea, which can respond to uncertain and changing threats. Rear Admiral Cunningham took 20 minutes of questions which covered: the future role of UAVs; the integration of a helicopter on a destroyer; escort protection by an Air Defence destroyer; the importance of rehearsing as a Task Group; the role of joint RN/RAF operations; the reliance of the RN on the US for training and the decision to scrap HMS Ark Royal rather than HMS Ocean. Rear Admiral Tom Cunningham addressed a meeting organised by the Royal Aeronautical Society’s Air Power Group on 8 November 2011. The lecture was introduced by Rear Admiral Simon Henley CEng FRAeS and the podcast was edited by Eur Ing Mike Stanberry FRAeS. Today, I talk to Tom Cunningham, a fellow with a new platform that will link consumers directly to farmers for purchasing food. Think AirBnB of meat - a platform called Grazr. He is planning to launch right here in Middle Tennessee, but this interview covers food freedom, a bit about rolling out software based business, and more. LFTN Premium Member Call scheduled for: Sat Feb 29. 11:30am CT Show Resources https://grazr.press/ Facebook Instagram: @grazrmarket Bio: Tom Cunninham, Grazr Tom Cunningham was born in Rockford, Ill. His mother stayed at home to raise him and younger sisters Anna and Clare. A week after his 10th birthday, the family moved to California for Mr. Cunningham’s career with FedEx. Mrs. Cunningham taught at UC Davis. At 12 years old, Tom earned his keep as a paper boy. His always supportive parents taught him to be daring. Inspired by musician Ben Harper, Tom jammed out during high school. His father’s friend liked his music enough to produce it through his new record company, Emerald City Entertainment, after his Dotcom busted. He rocked out on tour through his early 20s with various jobs and cities along the way. He worked on farms, fishing boats, in construction and wineries in between gigs. Life was exciting, but not what Tom wanted it to be. He wound up back in Woodland, Calif where he met a girl he knew from high school. The two dated and soon married. Tom found love, but not yet his ideal career. Wendy spurred him to pursue a longtime desire to be a fireman. He became EMT certified and joined the Air Force Reserves as a firefighter. After leaving active duty orders with the Reserves, he was hired by the City of South Lake Tahoe Fire Department while living in Carson City, Nev. He enjoyed the busy mountain towns all risk responses from backcountry rescues to ski slope responses to responding to emergencies on beautiful Lake Tahoe. The family grew to five with daughter, Cadence, and sons, Merit and Gage. Both Tom and Wendy desired more time together as a family and to raise their children in intimate relationship with the land. He wanted to free his children from rigid school years and the rat race; he wanted to become a farmer and teach his children a different way of life. Wendy’s success as an independent consultant with Arbonne International meant change. Tom was able to retire from the fire service at 30 years old to partner with Wendy in her Arbonne business and stay at home as a present father. They began seeking land. The couple searched far and wide before settling on Middle Tennessee. They chose Summertown, Tenn. to homestead for its beauty and reasonable proximity to the burgeoning market of Nashville. Wendy instructs the children with homeschool curriculum. Tom teaches them about the great outdoors. The good life was far from simple, but it was meaningful. Tom learned the struggles of being a farmer raising poultry, hogs, and cattle and saw the obstacles to getting meat to consumers. He wondered how to streamline the process. There had to be a way to “close the loop on the local food chain” and keep the money in the local economy. Tom floated the idea for months. One day in April 2019, as he conversed with his farming partner and neighbor, Corey, he began to realize this was his calling not merely an idea. Tom met with his men's group friend, Anthony Laney, to sow a plan: the two founded Grazr. Tom as CEO, Anthony as CTO. Tom spearheads the architecture and inner workings of a complex solution by weaving farmers, processors and discerning consumers stakeholders together into a streamlined system that serves each stakeholder. Every hurdle overcome and each conversation with an interested stakeholder builds his confidence in the viability and necessity for Grazr. Make it a great week! GUYS!
