Proper Triangle Posture, String Expiration, Learning the Feel & Non-Wood UkesVideo Podcast: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/structured-practice-r%C3%A9sum%C3%A9-remixes-regimens-the-uu-podcast-163.169033/How do you know when to move on to next lesson? How do you structure a Proper Practice Résumé Regimen? The guys start this week's Podcast by giving some feedback to a "Drunken Gymnast". They explain why it's important to have proper form, and why you should move on even if you haven't "Perfected" a song or technique. Aldrine explains how he would allocate time in a Practice Session and what makes something "Practice" vs "Playing". When a UU Member asks if strings can "Expire", the UU crew disagrees with each other on how long strings can last in the packaging. Another viewer brings up learning Ohta-San's arrangements which leads the team to talk about why you can't learn the "Feel" of a song from written annotation. The Podcast is topped off with the topic of non-wood Ukuleles.

Choosing what Ukulele to Perform with, Budget Conscious Brands, & Best Plastic Ukuleles Video Podcast & Timestamps: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/recital-preparation-tips-the-ukulele-underground-podcast-152.167896/ The AG Academy had it's Recital over the weekend, so Aldrine gives a recap of how his students performed, and tips for viewers who are preparing for a Recital or organizing their own Group Performances. UU Regular, Jim, asks how to choose the right Ukulele to perform with? Another viewer asks how do you know what fingers to use for different chords and different frets? The guys share what to look for if you want an Alternative to a K Brand ukulele without breaking the bank. They also share their opinions on Ukuleles made out of Plastic and other Synthetic Materials. At the end of the Podcast, the crew discusses the hype over the Low G Strings, and explain why they don't go to NAMM anymore.
Video Podcast & Timestamps: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/what-matters-to-musicians-the-ukulele-underground-podcast-149.167604/ The 4 horsemen of UU are using their GUTS to make choices. Low G or High G? Soprano or Tenor? What makes a better instrument: Materials or Construction? What is more important: Note Choice or Rhythm? Find out what the guys chose, and what the live audience voted for. The crew also answers questions like how to know what songs work with Low G, how to practice Call and Responses, and why Ukuleles cost so much when they use less materials?
Video Podcast and Timestamps: https://ukuleleunderground.com/2024/10/mid-song-tuning-guilty-pleasure-movies-tuup136/ Learn how Aldrine tunes in the Middle of the Song, and What are the Guys Guilty Pleasure Movies. It's just Aldrine and Kahai this week. The A and K Show talk about Low G for the last time when Aldrine answers why he doesn't perform with a Low G, and what he would have to do to play a whole show with one. Aldrine gives an estimate to the amount of Ukuleles in his collection, and how many ukuleles are in his rotation for playing on a regular basis. On last week's Jam, Aldrine tuned his Uke while Mid-Song, so a member asks how he tunes while playing? Someone asks if Aldrine has played a double low G like Taimane, and another viewer asks how many songs does Aldrine have in his repetoire? This kicks off the discussion of childhood TV shows/Cartoons, Favorite Movies we've watch multiple times, Bad Movies, and Unintentional Comedies.

A Fresh Story, season 3, episode 9 We had the best time talking to award-winning luthier Jayne Henderson about her fresh start into the world of building instruments. We chatted about her relationship with her father, her major career pivot into the world of luthiers, being a female founder and working mother in a predominantly male industry, and how becoming a mother changed her outlook on life. It is an honest, funny, raw, and authentic look at how life takes us places we aren't expecting, but end up being exactly for us in the long run. Jayne Henderson is an acoustic instrument maker specializing in small body guitars and ukuleles who took a major jump from nonprofit environmental law into the mostly male dominated field of instrument making. She learned the trade from her father, Wayne Henderson, after he helped her build a guitar to pay her law school loans and it turns out guitars are way more fun than writing grants. Jayne Henderson is the founder of EJ Henderson Guitars and Ukuleles, a renowned luthier known for crafting exquisite stringed instruments. Her meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to creating instruments that resonate with unparalleled sound have earned her a prominent place in the world of lutherie. EJ's innovative designs and commitment to quality and sustainability have made her guitars and ukuleles cherished by musicians and collectors alike. Check out more from EJ Henderson on her website, Facebook, and Instagram.

Following on from the viral success of his retro throwback to the days of the ZX Spectrum and other 8-bit home computers, MJ Hibbett brought his musical mix of comedy and meme-ability to the Edinburgh Fringe… although the hit song was released in 2000, and he didn't make the Fringe till 2015, this might feel tenuous but when you have a one-hit wonder online, you live the dream. MJ, along with Steven Hewitt, expanded that little ditty into a time-travelling rock and roll opera, mixing in Back to the Future, Ukuleles, and obscure Doctor Who references. They join myself and Jen Blacker in he Leith Radio Studios to talk about the show, viral success, and of course, they brought a guitar for a bit of a turn. So not only are we back in time to 2015 but back in time to 1982 as well. It's the Free Fringe at Sneaky Petes, it's Hey Hey 16K.

In this month's Crossing the Stream, we are packing up our Ukuleles and heading off on a zombie filled field trip with 2019's Australian Horror Little Monsters. We talk about the premise of the film and how well it does or doesn't work. As well as how the horror and comedy are balanced. We talk about how Josh Gad & Lupita Nyong'o both play against type and how they do in their respective roles. Is this this first movie where a human has bitten a zombie? How did Taylor Swift get involved in the making of this movie? and Why is she such a big part of it? We discuss how odd it is seeing a zombie film through the eyes of children. As well as how odd it is too see so many kids casually in peril in a horror film. A childhood divided between her father's home in Barbados and the cold grey of a wintery London gave Hollywood actor Minnie Driver a love for the laid-back sunshine of the coast of California. Minnie and Lisa talk America's contrasts of rich and poor, the philosophy of travel, the highs and lows of boarding school, taking the train across Europe, getting beaten up in a bar in Greece, delivering food to stranded neighbours during the Malibu fires, exploring the Middle East with her documentary-maker partner and how she is happiest strumming away on her ukulele on a shady veranda in Hawaii. Note: Lisa flew to LA with Virgin Atlantic and although she didn't actually interview Minnie in LA (Minnie is recording in London and Lisa in Malaga, Spain) Lisa promised she would say thank you to the team at Virgin anyway as she had the BEST time on board and indeed in the sunshine in California. Do we realize how much our frequency matters to others. You and I are meant to serve people in our frequency range. What needs to be said in and about life cannot be understood, internalized or implemented until we share it with certain people. They NEED that from you and I. I'm talking about life, hard decisions, victories, mistakes, proud moments, regrets, confessions, and just being absolutely emotionally vulnerable.Everyone has friends who just seem to be honed in to your sweet spot when it comes to allowing you unconditional pliability with them. You know who I am talking about, those People who you could just say anything to and you'd know that there will be no judgement. That stuff is so rare. So….Whether its your method, or your experiences, the way you present things or your personality…its gonna be your specific frequency, Your version of something, a topic, a lesson, an opinion, a perspective, will affect certain people differently and more deeply than anyone else's.There are certain people in this life who will not be affected or impacted unless you effect them yourself. You have a way of loving and considering that certain people need. Frequency matters. Your frequency matters!!!There are things in this life that will never get done, or changed, unless you do them yourself and change them yourself. So get out there. Effect them. Share who you are. ================================INSTAGRAM:@FYO.Podcast @TravisM.Heaton PODCASTS: (click the link)>
