Long ago, it was prophesized that four heroes would arrive to save the world from the encroaching darkness. It's said these Warriors of Light would repel the forces of darkness and finally bring peace to the world. Don't worry, we're here but instead of saving the world we've decided to use our powers for actual good: To spend the next 5-6 hours talking at you about the entire Final Fantasy series. That's right baby, we're going in chronological order starting with the very first Final Fantasy. From Anima to Zidane, we're here to get you informed and psyched up for the upcoming Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering set, due to release on June 13, 2025. Five years and 100 episodes later, we've hit episode (1)69 again! As we did before, today we're turning video games into dating sims. You may be asking, "But why?" And we would be answering, "We don't know." Todd is taking us to the one place that hasn't been corrupted by dating sims. Matt is taking us to a place that's already been corrupted by dating. Kyle is taking us to a place that, maybe, we shouldn't corrupt. The title of this week's episode was selected by our Patrons in our Discord Community! Photography is an every-person hobby! Anyone out there can grab a camera, hop in an autonomous vehicle, fill their backpack with apples and smoke bombs, and go take pictures of flora and fauna! Of course, I'm talking about 1999's smash hit, Pokemon Snap. While Pokemon Snap did get a sequel in 2021, there continues to be a staunch lack of photography games available to gamers in 2025. That's why the execs at DT!HQ called us in to pitch some new Snap-Likes. This week we're asking, "What IP would make the best backdrop for a photography game?" Kyle suggests we photograph the horrors of a post-apocalyptic world. Andrew suggests we photograph the horrors of a post-apocalyptic world. Todd suggests we undercut a union. Have you ever heard of the 'Nemesis System?' No? That's not surprising! The 'Nemesis System' is a patented game mechanic that was only included in two games in the mid 2010s. Well, lucky for those gamers, we're here to pitch the best games to get 'Nemmy." Matt is adding consequences to a game that's never had them. In the distant past of 2014, humanity was forever changed upon the discovery of a big ol' space orb floating above Mars. The big ol' space orb terraformed planets across our solar system and granted us with the Power of LightTM, ushering in a new Golden Age. But, that Golden Age wouldn't last forever. Eventually, the forces of DarknessTM found us and did a near-genocide, and now humanity is on the brink of extinction. Fortunately, the big ol' space orb resurrected a bunch of people and gave them Space Magic to fight back against the Darkness. You are one of those Space Wizards. It is you who will lead the charge against the evils of space and lead humanity back to their long-lost Golden Age. This is your story. This is your DESTINY. The last month of the year calls for a hoard of annual, year-end traditions. For some, that may involve decorating evergreen pines, for others, the estimation of Q4 tax payments, but for those of us of a certain generation, the last month of the year can mean only one thing: Spotify Wrapped. At the time of this episode's release, we're only a few weeks removed from the Mike Tyson v Jake Paul boxing match. Millions of users tried to watch this fight on Netflix, but most were thwarted by shoddy broadcast connections. Whether folks watched the fight live or not, almost all were dissapointed with the outcome. This bout with a 31-year age gap left a lot to be desired, and we here at DT!HQ are going to give the people what they desire. With that goal in mind, we've set out today to determine "which video game character would be the best to fight Jake Paul?" Todd suggests we fight fire with fire and billionaire with billionaire. So grab a napkin and pass the potatoes because this week we're debating "who the worst DC Comics character to bring home for the holidays?" Kyle is really stretching the definition of "manic pixie dream girl" this week. Andrew is going to make you uncomfortable and give your grandma a heart attack this week. It is the distant future of 2022 A.D. Technology has advanced to the point where fully immersive virtual reality experiences are not only possible, but readily available to the average consumer. In November of 2022, the newest video game sensation, Sword Art Online, has just released and has taken Japan by storm. Thousands line up on launch day to play this immersive massively multiplayer online RPG (MMORPG). The wildest part? Not even a single critic has acclaimed this game. The second wildest part? Following its first few hours, the initial 10,000 people logged into the game suddenly are unable to log out for...reasons? Special thanks to @Sharkbait for commissioning today's episode! "Remember, remember, the 5th of November," or whatever that guy in the mask said. On account of today being a relatively important day in world history, we decided to record an episode relatively based on world history! That little poem at the beginning of the paragraph was made famous by Alan Moore's V for Vendetta, a graphic novel based on a historical event. With that in mind, we're on a mission to write our own graphic novels! Specifically, we're looking for the best historical event to put to illustrated print. Matt is getting surprisingly heady with his answer. Andrew is getting surprisingly culty with his answer. And we decided to bring in a guest who actually knows history, so Eric Silver is getting surprisingly heisty with his answer. Hello Valued Employee, we hope this email finds you well! We're writing today to introduce you to our exciting, new, health-forward initiative. That's right, Valued Employee, we here at DT!HQ are putting the Hell back in Healthcare by gamifying your deductible! All you need to do is download a new app, buy a new tracking device, log every calorie you've ever consumed, and help us decide, "What video game character should lead a new corporate healthcare initiative?" Todd is introducing a new, lovable ring in the shape of old, lovable Kirby. Matt really commits to the bit, but it's not the bit you expect. Kyle comes in hot with school assembly energy, but practices an impressive amount of restraint. The title of this week's episode was selected by our Patrons in our Discord Community! "Boogity, boogity, boogity, let's go racin'!" - Phil Keoghan probably. The reality TV division of DT!HQ has tasked us with another reboot of a popular competition show. This time, we've set our sights on one of the big CBS shows. After two decades of watching midwesterners destroy manual vehicles abroad, audiences are ready for something new. That's why today we're deciding which video game world should be the setting for the next season of The Amazing Race! Andrew is doing a Donkey Kong thing. Kyle is doing a Pokémon thing. Todd is doing a mispronunciation thing. This month, we're entering the Lands Between and talking all about 2022's Elden Ring! Join us on this fantastical journey, courtesy of #buttthwompnation member @mgrum54! The month of May is synonymous with flowers and sunny weather. Birds are chirping, buds are blooming and farming sim fans are hunting for this year's way to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the indoors. Now we're not talking about just farming sims, we're setting our sights on the whole "cozy game" genre. The execs have asked us to head to the field of video games and harvest some new cozy games. Today we're tackling the questions, "What not cozy game should be remade but cozy?" Kyle's pitch is about as radical as a cozy game can be. Andrew's pitch is about as pun-filled as a cozy game can be. Matt's answer is pretty much just Five Nights at Freddy's. Profits are down! Why are profits down? Who knows, but they're down everywhere! Profits are so down that Big Capitalism has come running to us here at DT!HQ to get profits back up! How are we going to get profits back up? With card battlers of course! Todd gives the people what they want and completes a beloved trilogy. Matt is making the sickest, raddest card battler you've ever seen. If you understand Andrew's answer, hey, this episode is for you. And last but not least, because only Kyle understands card games, we invited our buddy Greg Schulz to keep us on track. On the day of our non-denominational Lord, April 7th, 2024, 4 nerds were given a platform for a second time. A platform, not just on the internet, but in a real life place in front of real life people at the Midwestern Gaming Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Those 4 nerds dared to ask a dangerous question, "What sport should be added to Wii Sports?" This raucous debate will really have you questioning if you know what a sport is. Andrew is pushing for esports in video games. Kyle is defending an American pastime. Todd is combining two things you didn't know could be combined.
