DescriptionAs someone who speaks, teaches, or preaches for a living, one of the last things I would want to be called is “unoriginal”. I associate that word “unoriginal” with words like boring, lame, predictable or unimaginative. And one of my biggest fears as a communicator, especially one for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is having people use any of those words to describe me or my speaking. And yet there it is, unoriginal, even with all of it's negative connotations, is PRECISELY a word all Catholic speakers need to aspire to. My mind was changed through my conversation today with Hilary Draftz, the West Area Director for FOCUS, as she used this word, unoriginal, to describe an important conviction she has about speaking to Catholic audiences. Jason owns Unoriginal Vinyl a company that has helped to create a number of spectacular vinyl albums and pressings including the soundtrack to Pick it Up! Ska in the 90s. Jason also was a producer on Pick it Up and talks about his role in the documentary. Yes they're back! (and about as welcome as a second term for Donald Trump). In this delectable slice of idiocy, the boys have an argument over a facebook joke, decide it's time for a show-sponsored charitable initiative and discuss unfair taxes. Dr Norman tries to support a positive attitude to gender fluidity by using a pigeon rape metaphor and it doesn't really work. There's a rambling explanation as to why there hasn't been any Mirth for 6 months and talk of teenage masturbation. Dr Norman admits he was wrong about something and was inappropriate at work, while River is just inappropriate.   Oh and it's amazing how quickly the conversation goes from disagreeing about a joke to theoretically masturbating an unexpected vagina with a rolling pin.

On the third installment of the Two Man RoundTable, we talk about the unoriginality of Hollywood that is slowly eroding the film industry. We cover the history of remakes, some of the most egregious examples of remake culture gone bad, and catalogue all of the remakes and sequels that will be hitting theaters in the near future. For example, Tim Burton is going to be directing a live action Dumbo movie. I wish I were funny enough to claim to have made that up, but it's actually happening.
