Today I am excited to be joined by James Sutton, Lead Educator in Exercise Mechanics at The Muscle Mentors, industry leaders in physique coaching and education. James is a trainer of trainers, a mentor for many PT's in the industry with an incredible amount of time & experience under his belt. In fact, James worked alongside Calum Raistrick at M10 in Nottingham, where James actually mentored Calum in Cal's early years as a coach, which speaks volumes for James knowledge and experience, including his role as lead educator and head of coaching at M10 before joining the Muscle Mentors. James epitomises the true physique & exercise professional, as one of the very few coaches in the UK who has obtained Mastery level with the Resistance Training Specialist created by Tom Purvis. I wanted to do something a little different for todays podcast with James. He's mostly invited onto podcasts to talk about exercise mechanics nowadays, which we'll definitely touch on, however James has so much experience and insight across the board which I was very keen to tap into during our discussion. So grab a coffee and enjoy what is sure to be an insightful episode. Thanks, please comment, like and subscribe! /Nick built the knowledge, tools and experience to overcome his own struggles, and now helps others to do the same. Fitness Rebels was established in 2020, where Nick offers a number of valuable services to clients and the industry alike. I've heard nothing but good things about The Fitness Rebels Mentorship, and his podcast Fitness Rebels Radio has had some of the top names in the industry featuring without any hesitation. To top it off, he went back to University and is currently finishing off a Masters in Osteopathy at the London school of osteopathy. This guys education runs deeper than most people you'll find in the industry. I've been following Nick since he served his last few months at UP and have enjoyed watching in the background his growth and what he's bringing to the table. Whether you're a coach or fitness enthusiast, I think you're going to get immense value from this episode. So grab a coffee or get locked in on your daily commute and enjoy. Doing the same things over and over in the gym that aren't producing tangible results truly is the definition of training insanity. Coaches Ross and Charlie go in on what this really means, along with some thoughts and suggestions about how you may start to get the most our of your sessions at the gym. Tracking calories and macros is a massively important part of achieving body composition success... But tracking will not be appropriate for each individual or all of the time. Coaches Ross & Charlie discuss some non-tracking strategies you can implement whether you're trying to achieve a physique transformation or maintain your results. Instagram: @betterbodycollective @coachrossgilmour @coachcharlesbarclay
Today we are joined by Paul Standell, who I think should be called Paul “Standup Comedy” as he's equal parts the comedian as he is an incredibly intelligent coach. Paul runs his own online coaching business, Body By Control, which helps clients ranging from beginner fat loss all the way through to photoshoot and physique competition condition. I met Paul virtually when I started out studying the Resistance Training Specialist material alongside group coaching via Integra Education ran by Michael Goulden in London. It turns out Paul is working through the material a 2nd time to further his understanding and fill in some more gaps which, as I've got familiar with him as an individual over the weeks, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Paul is starting to build a little bit of a reputation for his way of communicating and teaching the mathematical elements of physics as it applies to exercise mechanics, but he has quite the broad knowledge base and skill set, which opens up for a podcast interview with quite the range of topics. Connect with Paul: @paul_themusclementors
We are joined today by coach, educator and Co-Founder of The Muscle Mentors, Luke Hoffman. Luke has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to adding serious muscle to his clients physiques. I asked Luke to share a little on his origins into the fitness industry, delve into some of the potential flaws in the traditional hypertrophy model, and share his thoughts on the concept of utilising an RIR approach vs Training To Failure with Lower Volume. This was an insightful discussion and if you're at all interested in the topic of hypertrophy, you're going to love this episode. Today we are joined by bodyweight ninja and veteran Strength & Conditioning coach, Meghan Callaway. Meghan has been coaching clients in-person for over 17 years and online for over 4 years. A prolific fitness blogger and content creator, Meghan is helping thousands of people from over 100 countries worldwide with her notorious training plans “The Ultimate Pull Up Program” and “The Ultimate Push Up Program”. In today's episode, we dig into Meghan's origins in the industry, the car accident that proved to be a blessing in disguise, how her approach as a coach has evolved over the years, and of course what she thinks led to such incredible success of the pull up and push up programmes. This is the first guest episode of 2021, so grab a coffee and enjoy! Meghan's Instagram: @meghancallaway Website: http://www.meghancallawayfitness.com/
Better Body Radio is back for the first time in 2021! We've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes, including wrapping up the filming of our first education offering for coaches, The Muscle Mechanics Mentorship. Today we are joined by Michael Goulden, Owner and Lead Educator at Integra, a London-based private studio delivering personal training & education. His client roster includes creative professionals, recreational and professional athletes, as well as fellow exercise professionals who want to take their own training to the next level. Alongside his client work, Michael teaches courses in biomechanics and personal training for Integra and is a member of the teaching staff for the Resistance Training Specialist programs. He regularly consults and lectures for companies such as Cybex and some of the top personal training companies in Europe, such as M10 and the Muscle Mentors. Michael is by no means a flashy individual and very much lets his knowledge, experience and work do the talking. I believe this is part of the reason why he so well respected by many of the top in-person and online coaches in the industry. This was an awesome discussion covering some great topics, such as the challenges he faced with introducing The RTS methodology to the UK fitness scene, along with what we can do as coaches to raise the bar of coaching standards & delivery. You can connect with Michael and Integra on The Following links: Instagram: @integra.education Website: https://integra-education.net/
