Featured Musician: Mark Zhu [After THE JUMP: Things said.] --------------------- 1. Oregon Preview: Offense starts at the top They got a quarterback in the portal, they did. Jordan James was a backup last year, already broke out but now he gets the carries to show it. Two great OTs especially Conerly, and a squirrelly slot. They normally run tempo and pass around but against OSU they went max pro and tested whether the WRs could beat their CBs one-on-one (they could!) Several TEs if they can't get Ferguson back but he's a difference-maker as a blocker. Interior OL might be a little sketch—IU transfer Matt Bedford was supposed to be their RG but has been out all year. 2. Oregon Preview: Defense starts at xxxx Dan Lanning knows what he's doing; Michigan does not. They run a 3-4 Georgia system (Lanning was the DC when we faced them) and have a lot of talent. They went to the portal at DT and got a couple of good ones but the old DTs are beatable if you can get to them. Is Jordan Burch going to be available? He's a major pass-rusher, but they've been blitzing successfully to cover for his absence. Excellent in the secondary. LBs rotate through three good ones. Special teams: dangerous returners (Noah Whittington and Tez Johnson) but not great kickers—Ross James 100th in FEI, kicker Atticus Sappington has a career long of 48. 3. Seth's Hockey Segment starts at xxxx Big series with #5 BU starts tonight, and Big Ten on the docket. Better team defensively but looking for chemistry. Last two series Night 1 has been good, Night 2 has been the same game but nothing goes in the net and they blow it. Hage is their one skill guy, next most skilled player is Schifsky. St. Cloud State game was an extreme example of that but shows they really needed Rutger McGroarty. USNTDP game. 4. MSU After Review starts at xxxx Quarterback wasn't as good as it looked—only a few downfield passes, concerning play given State has no pass rush to speak of. MSU was playing Dantonio Ball against the run and this led to a lot of going nowhere even when things were blocked up well. Defensively they're fine until 3rd & long, when Wink tries to do something. Tackling is an issue because they've moved usage to Paige and it's exposing his issues there. Today I am excited to be joined by James Sutton, Lead Educator in Exercise Mechanics at The Muscle Mentors, industry leaders in physique coaching and education. James is a trainer of trainers, a mentor for many PT's in the industry with an incredible amount of time & experience under his belt. In fact, James worked alongside Calum Raistrick at M10 in Nottingham, where James actually mentored Calum in Cal's early years as a coach, which speaks volumes for James knowledge and experience, including his role as lead educator and head of coaching at M10 before joining the Muscle Mentors. James epitomises the true physique & exercise professional, as one of the very few coaches in the UK who has obtained Mastery level with the Resistance Training Specialist created by Tom Purvis. I wanted to do something a little different for todays podcast with James. He's mostly invited onto podcasts to talk about exercise mechanics nowadays, which we'll definitely touch on, however James has so much experience and insight across the board which I was very keen to tap into during our discussion. So grab a coffee and enjoy what is sure to be an insightful episode. Thanks, please comment, like and subscribe! Episode 50: Woohoo! We hit our first milestone, 50 episodes and boy is episode 50 epic! Ross & James chat with Jim Pollard, one half of the super talented husband and wife team “Pollard We Are”. Originally from the UK but after traveling the world Jim and his family settled in the beautiful New Zealand where he discovered his love for wedding photography. Although Jim and his wife Vicky are hugely successful destination wedding photographers, they are most well known around the world for jumping in helicopters and flying to the tops of mountains in NZ to create master pieces of art during a wedding day! We discuss how he does this and the hurdles he faces to capture these incredible photographs. We also chat about the equipment they use when undertaking such a huge amount of travelling during a wedding day, his Instagram followers, Jim’s thoughts on wedding albums, his printing with his Canon Pro-222 and how he prefers to offer a single shot beautifully printed than an album. We also managed to squeeze in a quick discussion on editing and how he became associated with Dvlop preset This is a link to the Montenegro shoot Ross discusses - some stunning lighting and an abandoned swimming pool! https://www.pollardweare.com/montenegro-wedding-andrew-alisha-kotor-montenegro/ Watch the interview here: https://youtu.be/FZUyKeL5eP0 Pollard are we details: Website: https://www.pollardweare.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pollardweare Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jimpollardgoesclick Enjoy Got any questions? So, I'm a bottle of rose (dry, not sweet) and a few bong rips in, so yeah, I'm a white girl. You can call me Jacki and I'm here to give you recap of this episode you're about to listen to. This is the very first episode of Ross McCoy's very first solo podcast, and, well, if we're being honest, it could sound a little better. Now, I'm not naming names, but whoever is sound engineering this ish needs to get their ass in gear for the next round of recordings, or else I'ma have to step in and make this show reflect the quality that Ross deserves. On this first episode of TOTs with Ross, James Yon and Bart Marek invaded my house and, like, hung out in my living room and were really loud. Like, SO LOUD, for a long time while Ross got his nerves together to do the intro for this dang show. And then he did it. And they talked? I think. But they definitely laughed, very loudly (as you'll hear), and maybe even judged us a bit for the smell when they opened the door during the episode and yelled at us, but it sounded like a good time. And honestly, Bart and James were good guests to our house, so I assume they were also excellent guests to Ross' first podcast, so, I mean, you should probably listen and then tell me what you think so that I know if I should invite all these people back to my house or not.
Erik Miller from Kokomo Winery visits Steve Jaxon and Dan Berger on California Wine Country today. Kokomo Winery is named after Erik's hometown in Indiana. Kokomo started in 2004 and Erik was working at a winery in Dry Creek. He is now up to his 17th harvest. He got a business degree from Purdue University in Indiana. He learned winemaking in the cellar, with some classes at UC Davis (but not a winemaking degree). He also works with an assistant winemaker, Jeremy Parsons. He has a chemistry degree and is "a perfect balance for my artistic ADD." Dan discovered Kokomo when he tasted a Kokomo Rosé in 2008. It was his first Rosé, from a vineyard where he grows Grenache. His Rosé is "bone dry, or close to bone dry." Erik likes the color of his Rosé, it is a very pale salmon-like color. It got people to realize it is dry, just by the color. They are growing the grapes intentionally to make Rosé and as soon as they pick the grapes, the key decisions start. Dan says that this grape makes the best Rosés. Most of the great French Rosés are make of Grenache at least in part. They taste a Sauvignon Blanc, held in Acacia barrels. Erik says they are good for texture, not for aromatics. Dan says this one is not soft, but crisp and dry. He has seen a lot of sweet SVs but you taste the fact that this is a dry wine. It would go very well with fish. They pick the grapes in two halves. The first harvest is more acidic and the second is fuller, richer with more tropical flavors. This is what Dan means by the strategy that begins at the harvest. Since they manage about 260 acres, they have a full time crew, which makes it easier to plan this kind of harvest. Next they taste a Muscat. They have 3/4 acre of this grape. He designed it for a late harvest. in 2017 they bottled it as a dry Muscat Blanc, which is rare. The four noble Alsatian varieties, Gewürtz, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Muscat and Erik thinks they are great with spicy foods. Dan suggests it would be good for mild Indian curries, but a hotter curry needs a sweeter wine. Erik also brought a sparkling wine. Steve says it has a strong bouquet. Dan says it has a delicate and subtle yeast component. It is not overpowering, as it often can be. It would benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar. Dan says that sparkling wine would lose its bubbles if decanted. Erik remembers having fried chicken at a gas station which they enjoyed with a sparkling wine. It made such an impression on him that they started a regular event in July and August called "Birds and Bubbles" which is an intimate event with sparkling wine and fried chicken. Erik talks about Hoosier Hospitality and Ross James, their tasting room manager and he encourages anyone to visit the winery and experience their hospitality. He talks about the Timber Crest Collective vineyard. Dan says that Kokomo makes the best Rosé he has ever tasted, better even than his other favorite French one, year after year.

You may recognize Alex Koford’s name, the front man of Colonel and The Mermaids, because he spends most of his time as the drummer in Terrapin Family Band and Phil and Friends. Beyond those duties, he’s also the drummer at Terrapin Crossroads and plays in Cosmic Twang with friend of the show Ross James. We caught up with Alex after watching some his fun and frivolity on Instagram in Hawaii. We spoke to Alex just before two Phil shows in San Francisco. The conversation started when I asked him how he hooked up with Phil. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sometimes you have to go a long way from home and try things way out of your comfort zone, to ultimately reach your goals…. that’s the case for Ross James a Bay Area guitar and pedal steel player who grew up listening to punk rock and country in his home state of Michigan. He left shortly after high school to live with his sister specifically for the warmer weather. As fate would have it, he wound up working with a Bay Area legend in Phil Lesh and his family. Now Ross is set to release a solo record one I think is quite good. We caught up with Ross to get the low down on the bushy bearded guy with dark glasses we often see around Phil Lesh.
