The Girls Gone Gravel podcast is a breath of fresh air in the world of cycling podcasts. Hosted by Vanessa, this podcast offers a soothing and non-judgmental approach to discussing all things gravel riding. The talks are not only motivating but also provide real, obtainable goals and results for listeners. Each week, I eagerly anticipate hearing what Vanessa has to teach us. This podcast is definitely one that should be made a priority to listen to.

One of the best aspects of The Girls Gone Gravel podcast is Vanessa's ability to create a safe and inclusive space for all listeners. Unlike many other cycling podcasts that tend to have a male-centric viewpoint, this podcast offers a refreshing change by highlighting the experiences and expertise of smart women who ride gravel. It's wonderful to hear women being celebrated and their voices being amplified in the cycling community.

Furthermore, the focus on strong women in the sport is truly inspiring. The podcast consistently shines a spotlight on incredible female riders, showcasing their accomplishments and sharing their stories. This not only motivates listeners but also helps break down barriers and encourages more women to get involved in gravel riding.

While it's difficult to find any significant faults with The Girls Gone Gravel podcast, one possible improvement could be diversifying the topics covered. While it does offer valuable insights into gravel riding, it would be interesting to explore other aspects of the sport such as bike maintenance tips or nutrition advice for endurance riding. Incorporating these topics would provide even more value and broaden the appeal of the podcast.

In conclusion, The Girls Gone Gravel podcast is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in gravel riding or seeking motivation from strong women in the sport. Vanessa's approachable demeanor and her commitment to amplifying female voices make this podcast genuinely enjoyable and empowering. Whether you're a seasoned gravel rider or just getting started, this podcast deserves a spot at the top of your listening list.

Melisa also completed the Lead Challenge in 2018, a series of 5 races in Leadville including both the 100 MTB and 100 Run races. A feat that most of us find hard just to wrap our heads around! Focussing on the bike, Melisa signed with Team Twenty24 in 2021 right after racing the Leadville 100 MTB that year, with a dream that she would one day come back and win the race. Supported by her team, Melisa raced in the Life Time Grand Prix in 2022, but stepped away for the 2023 season to focus on gaining race experience on the road circuit with her team. This has paid off for Melisa in dividends as she has returned to the Grand Prix in 2024. Riders at the 2024 Tour Divide endured all kinds of weather as they made their way south from Banff to Antelope Wells. Our guest this week, Meaghan Hackinen, found a way to prevail despite the less than ideal conditions, winning the women's race and also setting the fastest Grand Depart time. Meaghan got her start in cycling commuting to school, eventually finding her way to long bikepacking trips to fulfill her sense of adventure. Inspired by Lael Wilcox's win at the 2016 Trans Am Bike race, Meaghan decided to dip her toe into competitive ultra distance cycling. Since then she has raced ultras all across the world, proving time and again to herself that she is stronger than she thinks.
