A ten-second pause can save you from a lifetime of fallout. We start with Proverbs and a simple practice that almost nobody wants to do in the moment: think before you speak. From there, I lean into the deeper question beneath our daily arguments, fears, and frustrations: are we willing to admit we're fallen and need to repent, or do we keep calling evil “not evil” just to win the room?We work through 1 Corinthians 7:2–6 with a plain, marriage-first focus on fidelity, self-control, and the danger of using intimacy as leverage. Then we read from Luke as Jesus is challenged with “By what authority are you doing all these things?” and we watch Him flip the trap back on the people trying to control the narrative. That leads into the vineyard parable and the “give to Caesar” moment, a sharp reminder that accountability can't be negotiated away with clever questions.Psalm 89 brings the steadiness: God's unfailing love, covenant faithfulness, and power over every storm. I also share a Medal of Honor story and contrast the kind of character that builds a nation with the kind that tears it apart, then close with an excerpt from Patrick Henry's “Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death” and why it still feels uncomfortably applicable. If you care about biblical truth, Christian worldview, marriage, faith and culture, and the cost of liberty, press play, share this with someone you trust, and leave a review so more people can find the show.#ChristianNation#AmericanPatriot#BacktoGodSupport the showThe American Soul Podcasthttps://www.buzzsprout.com/1791934/subscribeCountryside Book Serieshttps://www.amazon.com/Countryside-Book-J-T-Cope-IV-ebook/dp/B00MPIXOB2

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 22nd of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 26:75: “So he went out and wept bitterly.” Oh, what a sad verse that is! The man that Jesus was grooming to take over the leading of the church promised the Master that he would stay with Him to the end and never let Him down. The Lord said, “Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.” You and I need to be very, very careful before we make that statement or that decision. Young man, don't make idle promises. Don't promise that young lady that you will marry her and then, at the last moment, change your mind. It can destroy a woman. Young lady, don't lead on that man and make all kinds of promises only to leave him and marry someone else. When you make a decision with your partner to go into business, make sure you don't drop the ball. Yes, Jesus forgives, we know that, praise God. I know that maybe better than most of you, and if we repent and say sorry He forgives us, but the scar remains. That is a fact. If we go to the Book of Colossians 1:9, this is what Paul says: “For this reason, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;…”We need to ask the Lord to give us direction before we make a commitment. My brother was a golf professional when he was a young man. He is actually a preacher today, and he couldn't get to church on a Sunday morning because that was his busiest day playing golf, but every now and again, if it was a rainy day or whatever, he would go to church with his family, and the minister, when he left the church would shake hands and say to him, “Oh, so good to see you. I am going to come and have a cup of tea with you one of these days”. And he never ever came, and that upset my brother a lot and disappointed him. Rather don't say it, than say like Peter said, “I will be with you till the end”, only to deny Him three times. Peter loved Jesus. That is why he was there. He didn't run away but when the crunch came he didn't come through with it. Don't do that today!Father God,I want to pray for my friend who is listening to this message right now, Lord, that they would think before they speak, Lord, that they would really think it over before they make a decision, and once they have made that decision, Lord, give them the courage to fulfil it.In Jesus name, amen.God bless you and goodbye.

In this brief but insightful episode, Dr. Shaw discusses how to be energy efficient when it comes to speaking with others.  We are not going to speak the same with long-time close friends as we would with casual acquaintances.  If you're observing a situation and knowing your audience, you will end up behaving and reacting the way the situation dictates... and that's not being insincere... it's just reality.  Knowing when to stay silent, even when you have a lot to say, it's a practice of discernment.   When teaching, Dr. Shaw always discouraged tattling as when a child tattles, they are focused on the negative and not the positive.  If you are communicating with someone, you need to notice how receptive the other person is.  If you are both open and receptive you will have an honest exchange.   If you can't say what you want to say, it may just be not the right time to share it.  You can agree to disagree... or you can remain open to learning from the other person.  In turn, teaching your children how to navigate difficult moments in conversation would be very helpful in their growth and learning.  If we can economize our words, we will be better communicators.

In this message, Pastor Curt Taylor explores the powerful story of Zechariah, the husband of Elizabeth, as recorded in Luke 1. Through Zechariah's encounter with the angel Gabriel and his initial doubt about God's promise of a son, Pastor Curt unpacks the themes of faith, patience, and God's redemptive grace. He highlights how Zechariah's journey from doubt to faith mirrors our own struggles to trust in God's timing and plans. The message emphasizes that even in moments of silence and uncertainty, God is working to fulfill His promises in extraordinary ways. This message invites listeners to find hope in God's faithfulness and to respond to His call with renewed trust and obedience.

The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

What you think about yourself and say to and about yourself will determine how your day, week, month, year, and life go. It is crucial to think before you speak. When you open your mouth and say things about yourself or anyone else, you are opening the door for Satan to step in and create chaos in your world. If you have found yourself thinking negative thoughts and saying negative words, it is imperative to adopt a positive mindset practice. Don't Speak Negative Things About Yourself It is essential to think before you speak because what you say can be used to take advantage of you. Satan is waiting for every opportunity to distract you and pull you away from your foundation in Christ. He lurks about, waiting to convince you that your identity is what you think and say about yourself, not what your identity in Christ says about you. Examples of why you need to think before you speak   When you think before you speak, you will discover more peace.   Your mindset will determine your outcomes.   How to implement a positive mindset practice to develop the mindset of Christ.   My suggestion is to adopt the practice of my 7 Cs which are: Catch the negative thoughts before you speak them out loud. Challenge the negative thoughts. Are they realistic? Would Jesus think them about you? Would a friend or loved one think that way about you? Confess the lack of belief, negative thoughts, negative emotions, and any negative phrases you say and ask for forgiveness. Collaborate with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to give you strength, knowledge, and wisdom to change your thoughts and to increase your faith in Christ. Change your thoughts and the words you speak. This takes daily practice. Control - as you commit to this positive mindset practice and actively do it daily, you will have more control over your thoughts, emotions, and the words you speak. Confidence will become second nature as the negative thoughts decrease and you focus on your belief in Christ as your Savior and what is possible through Him. If you do not actively change your thoughts and avoid speaking negative words out loud, they may become your reality. Words are powerful. Choose them wisely so as to manifest the life Jesus has for you, not the things of the world. You, with the help of the Holy Spirit, can change your life, one thought and one word at a time. Get to it! Schedule a call with me to learn more about my services and how I work with my clients to achieve an effective positive mindset practice. Speak to others in a manner you would want to be spoken to, hopefully, something positive and uplifting. Speak life into others just as you ought to be speaking life into yourself as well. Let's not give those negative thoughts or words any ammunition, and let's be careful about the words we use to express ourselves and to communicate with others.

Yes, in a technical sense, we all have to think before we speak. Unfortunately it doesn't always appear to be the case. Have you ever said something and wished you hadn't? Ever heard someone else say something and thought "did that sound right in their head before they spit it out"? Join The Gray Beards as they discuss the importance of taking time to think before you speak. You'll show up as being smarter, more considerate, and a better listener, just to call out a few benefits. Enjoy!!!
