On this episode of Talking Away The Taboo, Sharon Cabelly joins Aimee Baron, MD to talk about... -how she has NEVER gotten over her pain -her rich and full life as a teacher - a job that she adored -how she yearned for a large family -her medical issues, that meant she was only able to have one child (and now three grandchildren) -how the comments have never stopped, people constantly ask her why she only has one, even to this day -her story, bringing these insensitive comments to light, so others will learn what NOT to say when meeting someone for the first time More about Sharon:  I am a retired early childhood educator.  I have written and recorded eight children's books, which are in the process of being published.  I love reading to children all over the world, especially those who are in hospitals or ill at home.  I enjoy speaking on podcasts, sharing my journey and talking about my books.  Giving back to the world is what throws me out of bed each and every day.   I want to help anyone that I can who has experienced a loss during pregnancy.  It is especially important to me to change the way that people speak to others, with insensitivity and incessant questions.  The more that we talk about these issues, the more that we will be able to change the trajectory of this narrative.  Connect with Sharon:  -Send her an email Connect with us: -Check out our Website -Follow us on Instagram and send us a message -Watch our TikToks -Follow us on Facebook -Watch us on YouTube -Connect with us on LinkedIn

In this message, Pastor Curt Taylor explores the powerful story of Zechariah, the husband of Elizabeth, as recorded in Luke 1. Through Zechariah's encounter with the angel Gabriel and his initial doubt about God's promise of a son, Pastor Curt unpacks the themes of faith, patience, and God's redemptive grace. He highlights how Zechariah's journey from doubt to faith mirrors our own struggles to trust in God's timing and plans. The message emphasizes that even in moments of silence and uncertainty, God is working to fulfill His promises in extraordinary ways. This message invites listeners to find hope in God's faithfulness and to respond to His call with renewed trust and obedience.

The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

What you think about yourself and say to and about yourself will determine how your day, week, month, year, and life go. It is crucial to think before you speak. When you open your mouth and say things about yourself or anyone else, you are opening the door for Satan to step in and create chaos in your world. If you have found yourself thinking negative thoughts and saying negative words, it is imperative to adopt a positive mindset practice. Don't Speak Negative Things About Yourself It is essential to think before you speak because what you say can be used to take advantage of you. Satan is waiting for every opportunity to distract you and pull you away from your foundation in Christ. He lurks about, waiting to convince you that your identity is what you think and say about yourself, not what your identity in Christ says about you. Examples of why you need to think before you speak   When you think before you speak, you will discover more peace.   Your mindset will determine your outcomes.   How to implement a positive mindset practice to develop the mindset of Christ.   My suggestion is to adopt the practice of my 7 Cs which are: Catch the negative thoughts before you speak them out loud. Challenge the negative thoughts. Are they realistic? Would Jesus think them about you? Would a friend or loved one think that way about you? Confess the lack of belief, negative thoughts, negative emotions, and any negative phrases you say and ask for forgiveness. Collaborate with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to give you strength, knowledge, and wisdom to change your thoughts and to increase your faith in Christ. Change your thoughts and the words you speak. This takes daily practice. Control - as you commit to this positive mindset practice and actively do it daily, you will have more control over your thoughts, emotions, and the words you speak. Confidence will become second nature as the negative thoughts decrease and you focus on your belief in Christ as your Savior and what is possible through Him. If you do not actively change your thoughts and avoid speaking negative words out loud, they may become your reality. Words are powerful. Choose them wisely so as to manifest the life Jesus has for you, not the things of the world. You, with the help of the Holy Spirit, can change your life, one thought and one word at a time. Get to it! Schedule a call with me to learn more about my services and how I work with my clients to achieve an effective positive mindset practice. If spending time on social media is triggering negative thoughts, know that you can grow your business without social media. Speak to others in a manner you would want to be spoken to, hopefully, something positive and uplifting. Speak life into others just as you ought to be speaking life into yourself as well. Let's not give those negative thoughts or words any ammunition, and let's be careful about the words we use to express ourselves and to communicate with others.

Do You Have A Couple Of Minutes

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 31, 2023 6:21

What did you expect to happen? Think before you speak and before you act. A while back I shared that it all boils down to relationships.. Let me go a step further that within those relationships it boils down to communication. For more than 30 years I've worked with businesses, and I've seen a lot of issues around ineffective communication. For the most part people mean well, some even spend a tremendous amount of time and dollars on communication, and still manage to have breakdowns with interpersonal communication. Let me say this as directly and clearly as possible, “to be an effective communicator, one must think before speaking or taking action.” Thinking, in and of itself, does not guarantee effectiveness, because faulty thinking does exist. However, thinking does allow us to take a bit of a pause. What we do during the pause matters. For our communication to be effective, during the pause we must take time to think about what we want the outcome of our communication to be, what needs to be communicated, the context of the communication, and how it can best be communicated. When communicating, as much as it is possible, it is good to begin with the end in mind. This is the focus on what we want the outcome of the communication to be. For example, if we have a goal of wanting people to remain engaged and invested in collaboration, we need to steer clear of communications that might make people feel insecure, uncertain, or pitted against one another. Keeping in mind what we want the outcome of the communication to be, we then focus on what needs to be communicated for that outcome. We want to have clarity in our minds of the details of what we will communicate. Next we will need to have an understanding of the context in which we will be communicating so that we can be as intentional as possible in our communication. Does this person or group we are communicating with have a thorough understanding of the subject matter? If not, how can we provide context or deliver the information in a way it can be fully understood for application or reference? It is important to always remember that people receive information from their experiential frame of reference. The up and coming star employee is not going to hear the news of a firmwide merger or some other significant organizational change in the same manner as a senior employee who has been through a few mergers or others systems/process changes. Context matters and it's a big deal. We must keep in mind that while we may have a thorough understanding of a situation, however, that is generally not the case for those who are not as close to the information being communicated or who have not had the same amount of time to reflect upon the information. Finally, when communicating, we need to utilize the best tools and processes for communication. How we communicate may vary depending on the speed of the communication and the detail of the communication. There may be multiple methods used to provide the communication, particularly if the information is complex and may need to be referenced. We may also need to have processes in place for communication follow-up, particularly when we are communicating about a matter that is not yet resolved. So this week, practice consciously thinking before you speak or otherwise communicate. Take a moment to pause, pay special attention to your expectations of communication, what you say, how you say it, and how it is received. #DoYouHaveACoupleOfMInutes #Inspire #Think #Learn #Grow #Fulfilled #LiveFulfilled #Liberate #Illuminte #Amplify #PositiveChange #Leadership #Mentor #Coach #Develop #Lead #Listen #Encourage #Feelings #Intent #Expectations #PetrinaGooch #Petrina #TakeTheGoodTakeTheBad #Perfection #Imperfections #ShowingUp #ShowUpOpen #Self #SelfImprovement #SelfCare #Whatdidyouexpecttohappen #Thinkbeforeyouspeakandbeforeyouact
