Send us a text#35: This week on Rise Recover Live, Liz and Bryce The Third return to for a heartfelt conversation between two friends, diving into what it means to adapt. As life moves through seasons, each one calls us to shift our mindsets and behaviors. For Liz, adaptation was a survival tool during active addiction. She reflects on the delicate balancing act of trying to feel better while in pain, reaching for the only tool she knew at the time. But even before taking her last drink, Liz began to shift her mindset—deciding she deserved recovery and happiness. Now, her focus is maintenance: doing the daily work to feel strong and supported. Whether it's going to bed early, seeing a therapist, staying connected to friends, or being present, these tools help her navigate whatever life throws at her.Bryce shares how he actively leans into the challenge of shifting his mindset—because it's something he can control. Every day, he identifies what's within his power to change and what steps align him with the person he wants to be. It's how he bends without breaking. And when he catches himself being self-critical, he pauses to reframe and practice gratitude.Tune into the episode to hear the full conversation and hop into the Podcast space on the NewForm app to let us know what are some tools that allow you to adapt.Discover the app that connects you with community, wellbeing, recovery organizations, and thousands of recovery events at www.newform.org.Join the Rise Recover Live Podcast Space on the NewForm mobile app and connect with our Podcast community at https://links.thephoenix.org/kSRumor5GTb.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health or substance use related crisis, the following resources can provide immediate help.*If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, please dial 911.- Dial 988 for the SAMSHA Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.  Available 24/7- Text “HOME” to 741-741 for the NAMI Crisis Text Line.  Available 24/7.- Dial 1-800-622-2255 to connect with a nearby treatment center & community resources through the NCADD Hope Line. Send us a text#32: This week on Rise, Recover, Live, Liz and Bryce The Third welcome back Scott Strode, Founder and Executive Director of The Phoenix, for a long-awaited conversation.Since his last appearance on the show, a lot has changed—most notably, Scott has written and published his first book. In Rise. Recover. Thrive. he opens up about the cathartic, sometimes scary, and emotional process of translating his personal journey into recovery onto paper, while spotlighting the work of The Phoenix movement. Through the writing process, Scott reflects on what makes The Movement so powerful: the belief that those seen as "the problem" in society are actually the solution. By focusing on the strength in people and treating folks with dignity, we can all thrive and even reach back a hand to help those behind us.Now, nearly two decades since founding The Phoenix, Scott seeks to memorialize the ethos of this work. Even if The Phoenix isn't the one to ultimately transform how our society approaches addiction, the ideas can inform those who come after, aiding them in carrying the movement even further.Tune in to hear Scott's wisdom as we discuss what first inspired him to start this work, how that motivation has changed, and why thriving—no matter how distant it may seem—remains the goal, and much more.Learn more about Scott at www.scottstrode.com, and find his book at www.scottstrode.com/book or wherever books are sold.Visit www.newform.org to discover the app that connects you with community, wellbeing and recovery organizations, and thousands of recovery events.
