This week, David and Connor talk about the long forgotten (for good reason) animated spectacle, Rock Dog. They discuss what they enjoyed, what they didn't, and who could be responsible for such a generic feature.

The premiere episode of 2023 from The Theatre Podcast with Alan Seales - make sure to follow everywhere you get your podcasts. Eddie Izzard is a Tony Award nominated, Emmy Award winning actress who quickly rose to fame in the 90s as a phenomenal standup comedian - producing two of my all time favorite specials Glorious and Dress to Kill. Among her 41 film credits include The Avengers, Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, and Rock Dog. She has around 40 TV credits, is a politician, activist, philanthropist, historian, linguist, has lent her voices to video games and now along with her brother Mark have adapted Great Expectations, the Charles Dickens classic, into a 2 act play now showing at the Greenwich House Theater in NYC where she plays 19 different characters. This episode covers why Eddie ran for Parliament (yes, THE Parliament), how she finds her comedic seams that glue her standup together, why running marathons became a hobby, and what it means that she is exactly 150 years younger than Charles Dickens (spoiler, it doesn't mean much!). After losing her mom at a very young age, Eddie turned to the theatre in what she believes is the need to feel the love from the audience - a substitution for the missing affection from her mother. Holy crap boys and girls, do we have a huge episode for you this week. What we considered to be a lofty dream has now become a reality, teaching the boys to dream bigger. Anyway, the boys welcome YouTube superstar, stand-up comedy phenom and fellow podcaster Neel Kolhatkar onto the show. We begin, however, with our usual dribble which includes an exciting update in Miguel's DJ journey as well as a not so exciting update to Ro and Sen's match fixing. Next up is our interview with Neel. The boys have been fans of Neel's for many years and they don't waste any time getting down and dirty with him. We explore the nitty gritty of Neel's career and life, including his humble beginnings on YouTube, being a viral superstar, his high school heyday, following non-traditional career paths as well as the origins of Kog Dog. As we do with most of our guests, we end with the classic “What is the Question?” This time, Migs and Sen are pitted against Neel to see who is the ultimate comedian. In usual fashion however, the game gets derailed and we get sent down the garden path on a random tangent. Also this week: Gatecrashing, brown tokenism, Kog Dog vs Rock Dog and the Tinder Swindler. Segments this week: The Logue: Tired of reaching around each other (at least on the podcast), the boys have instead decided to reach around the week's news stories, events and viral trends. The Reach-Around: To show gratitude and respect to our guest, and like all good hosts should do, the boys get around the guest in the most homoerotic segment in podcasting. What is the Question: The boys are presented with an answer and they have to guess what the question is - the most humorous answer wins. ___________________________________________________ YOU CAN FIND NEEL HERE:

In this episode of Healing Mentalit-Tea I interview my brother and artist Don Dixon. In addition he is the author of two children's books "Dandelion" and "Darwin the Dreamer" both books offer opportunities for processing pain and healing. Don at the age of 15, received a full scholarship to the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. It was here that he began to really take his art seriously and dive into learning more about fine art. After majoring in Visual Arts at Interlochen Arts Academy in 1996, Don went on to Savannah College of Art and Design, completing his education at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and graduating with a BFA in Animation and Digital Media. Don's first job was at WMS Gaming in Chicago doing animation in both 2D and 3D. From there, he moved to Texas to work at Green Grass Studios, then on to Florida to work at Ignition Entertainment doing video game animation, followed by a stint in Hawaii working on the hit TV Show Veggie Tales. Currently, Don works in Dallas, Texas, at Reel FX working on feature films such as, The Book of Life, Free Birds, Rock Dog, Sherlock Gnomes and most recently Scoob. Recently he has begun an art collection entitled Pain and Process. This collection was an outcome of the pain he was experiencing given what is occurring in society, particularly after the death of George Floyd. His work is amazing, people are saying this collection is a depiction of the words they could not find to describe what they were feeling. Onward is Disney-Pixar’s newest addition to the catalog and we talk all about the trailer in this week’s episode of Movie Trailer Trash! Listen to what we have to say about the rising popularity of DnD’s effect on this movie, the potentially low membership of One Million Moms, Bethany’s hatred of death and why nobody rocks harder than Jeremy Renner. UPDATE: In this episode, I say Jeremy Renner does the voice for Rock Dog and he does not, he voices a character in Arctic Dogs and I have never been more ashamed. I should have said, "Nobody rocks harder than Luke Wilson!" This week our Rolfe Kent interviews are capped off with a retrospective of his work. While we cannot possibly cover everything he has composed, we hope that shining a light on some of his varied scores will help show just how impressive his works are in film. Some know Mr. Kent by his romantic comedies, others know him by his darker comedies, and others still know him by his adventure scores. Scores like Downsizing, Rock Dog, Dom Hemingway, Bad Words, Labor Day, Young Adult, Charlie St. Cloud, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Reign Over Me, Thank You for Smoking, Wedding Crashers, The Matador, Kate and Leopold, Gun Shy, Election, The Slums of Beverly Hills, Citizen Ruth, and so many others. Without his deft touch, such dark comedies like About Schmidt, Sideways, Bad Words, and Election might be too dark or too light, but not balanced. Luckily, Mr. Kents talent is in diversity of the orchestra and the moods he creates. Brad, Kurt, and Alex take a look at some of the reasons he is so good at this, and try to highlight some of his best work. Sit back and relax, or drive to the calming, fun sounds of Mr. Rolfe Kent. A special thanks goes out to Mr. Kent and everyone that works for him for allowing us to provide these shows and excellent interviews. This is the reason we do this show, to preserve the history of such great artists. Enjoy.
