Choosing to better understand ourselves - from the monks, from poets, artists and friends...Understanding Your Darkness as Much as the Light - is what will set you apart from everyone else. It will keep you sharp, a futurist and ahead of the curve.A poem by Rumi the guest house: This being human is a guest house.Every morning a new arrival.A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comesas an unexpected visitor.Welcome and entertain them all!Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your houseempty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you outfor some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sentas a guide from beyond. - RUMI Thank you for listening & I'll see you very soon!Audible.com/Spirited to order the new book!Thank you -- xx Candice Get full access to Candice's Substack at candicekumai.substack.com/subscribe
A very special free gift: a free chapter of my new book spirited: out on audible.com/spirited drops April 27th 2023. A spiritual wellness guide, Spirited shows you how to find more fulfillment and peace in modern life by applying timeless Buddhist wisdom.Beneath Candice Kumai's polished image as a wellness icon, she was tormented by anxiety, competitiveness and deep inner suffering. It wasn't until she re-embraced the Buddhist principles she'd been taught in childhood that she began to change her life for the better—even making a pilgrimage to her mother's home country of Japan to study in the mountains with Buddhist monks. Full of wisdom and raw honesty, Spirited recounts her journey and shares the Buddhist practices that transformed her life so you can, too."Candice Kumai is the wellness & spiritual teacher for the next generation, a PIONEER of her time." I've been curious about how fake wellness practitioners have been trying to buy your way well. When wellness comes from many marginalized voices and from our ancient ancestors practices. If we learn more about foolish con-artist thirst VS wholesome nutrition, sleep, cold plunges, water, changing our thoughts, breathing, meditation, walking, pets, the library, community events, or simply boundaries with crazy ppl. We become better wellness practitioners - bc when you are real and authentic - you open the doors to a new beginning of true wellness. xx its always free xx ck Get full access to Candice's Substack at candicekumai.substack.com/subscribe

7 Habits How to Practice Wellness for Free- it starts within your own mind//heart not from hype or marketing//sales: 1- Value your health especially if you and your loved ones have it - go inward with gratitude. 2- Learn to let things go - be easy - find the recognition of others in who they are through their morals and values - stop juding so much & find a way to be like water -- be still. 3- Be kind -- because you can always be kindknow the difference between nice and kind. Nice is polite & fake af behind your back. Kind is genuine, real and tells you how it is but is always willing to help others. 4- Money is not currency that is of great importance. What will God say to you when you show up at the pearly white gates?5- The human body - take care of it like you would your Porsche or your temple. Value health, prioritize it. 6- Wellness of the mind is the most profound work right next to the work in your heart space; start reading more books from Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hahn & Eckhart Tolle7- Research: someone's background to match their words and their inner being purpose from a projection of false reality verb (used with object): vet·ted, vet·ting.to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, suitability. Do your research on all wellness backgrounds and resumes. HYPE is not wellness, a large following is not wellness & ppl that overshare, overpost, over-promise - are more than likely praying on your vulnerability and want to make money off of your vulnerability. True wellness practitioners are found at the temple, church, on hikes, at the monastery, homeless shelters, a Chaplain , praying for others and not seeking attention, fame or money. Be weary -have your wits about you. And until the next time -- keep being kind, volunteering, go offline, loving & open- minded xx ck Get full access to Candice's Substack at candicekumai.substack.com/subscribe

Consider this a very non-bias and non-religious way to open your heart and mind to practicing a new art. Spirituality is a personal and open-minded non judgement based, no rules practice. It's believing in kindness, the light, the human spirit, nature, relaxation time in the morning, breath work, being a good person, even when others are not kind to you. Especially when others are not kind to you. How can we also promote more minority women and women in our fields and keep being more realistic about wellness? Create your own Maui Ranch. Free practices, not selling products or scamming others, not being a shitty person, not praying on vulnerable people. Spirituality is celebrating all race, religion, creed, being open to other's beliefs. non judgement - and open heartedness, and loving on those who practice good deeds. Esp when poor and scammy behavior is so praised in this twisted world, we can do our part to praise the light, the good and the kind. Those who look for nothing in return. Lest we forget - reward more minority women - pay them what they are worth -- hire more minorities, give more good people great opportunities! We must practice rewarding good behavior too & continue to do things that Grandma would be proud of, while using your brain. xx ck Get full access to Candice's Substack at candicekumai.substack.com/subscribe
