"AfterMASH" is a spin-off of the acclaimed TV series "MASH," focusing on the post-war lives of several characters from the original show, including Sherman Potter, Maxwell Klinger, and Father Mulcahy. Set in a veteran's hospital in Missouri, the series shifts from the warzone to the challenges and adjustments of peacetime, blending comedy with issues faced by veterans. Despite its initial success and high expectations, "AfterMASH" struggled to capture the essence and popularity of its predecessor, leading to its cancellation after two seasons, leaving a legacy as an ambitious but ultimately unsuccessful attempt to continue the "MASH" narrative.Another M*A*S*H spinoff was W*A*L*T*E*R in which Radar leaves the farm to become a police officer.

AfterMASH WAS a show. It was a spinoff of M*A*S*H...obviously! The show follows three characters from the original series after they return home from the Korean War. Colonel Sherman T. Potter, Maxwell Klinger and Father John Mulcahy reunite to work together at General Pershing Veteran's Hospital a.k.a. "General General,” located in the fictional town of River Bend, Missouri. Much like the legendary M*A*S*H, AfterMASH attempts to balance comedy with tragedy, and we take a serious look at how it fares in comparison to its predecessor. Trigger Warning: AfterMASH explores serious subject matter including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and poor treatment of veterans. We talk about these themes in our episode. The series takes place immediately following the end of the Korean War and chronicles the adventures of three characters from the original series: Colonel Sherman T. Potter (played by Harry Morgan), Maxwell Klinger (played by Jamie Farr) and Father John Mulcahy (played by William Christopher). M*A*S*H supporting cast-member Kellye Nakahara joined them, albeit off-camera, as the voice of the hospital's public address system. Rosalind Chao rounded out the starring cast as Soon-Lee Klinger, a Korean refugee whom Klinger met, fell in love with, and married in the M*A*S*H series finale "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen".

Hello and welcome back once again, we hope that everyone is having a fabulous time. This week we celebrate many achievements that are pure catnip for Nerds, to start with the eventual launch of the Falcon heavy rocket, also the first image of a black hole, my goodness, so much interstellar goodness. The first topic up this week is about electrical stimulation of the brain and how it can help improve memory. Now that doesn’t mean that any students should go out and start electrocuting themselves…although we all know that one person we want to zap. Research is still being developed on application of electrolysis in the treatment of Alzheimers and other issues, and NO, do not got out and electrocute the elderly, that is not cool. Next up we look at a lawyer and a lobbyist who has been banned from Eve online, apparently he claims to be innocent. It is all a misunderstanding or something is his defence, please I used that when I was 8 as an excuse, surely he can do better. Next he will be saying it was his dog did it. Then DJ has news about the cast being announced for the live action series of Cowboy Beebop. We are all nervous but hopefully this one will work, of course we aren’t holding our breathe. After all, they have to get one right eventually don’t they? What do you think is the worst live action adaption from anime? Drop us a line and let us know, also which is you favourite anime you would recommend? Then we have the games of the week, shout outs, remembrances, events of interest, and birthdays. Hot diggedy do, now that is looking like a great show. As always, take care and look out for each other and stay hydrated.EPISODE NOTES:Electrical Stimulation - https://www.livescience.com/65177-electrical-stimulation-brain-memory.htmlLobbyist banned on EVE - https://www.pcgamer.com/a-real-life-lobbyist-was-just-permanently-banned-in-eve-online-for-corruption/Cowboy Bebop cast announced - https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/cowboy-bebop-netflix-live-action-series-cast-1203180399/Games currently playingBuck– Deceit - https://store.steampowered.com/app/466240/Deceit/DJ– Apex Legends - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legendsProfessor– Krunker - https://krunker.io/Other topics discussedElectroconvulsive therapy (ECT)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroconvulsive_therapyECT wipes 30 years of person’s memory- https://www.mdedge.com/psychiatry/article/62301/ect-wipes-out-30-years-memoriesSoviet Union aka CCCP- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_UnionSpike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop character)- https://cowboybebop.fandom.com/wiki/Spike_SpiegelDeath Note (2017 Netlfix film)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Note_(2017_film)Ghost in the Shell (2017 film)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_in_the_Shell_(2017_film)Katie Bouman: The woman behind the first black hole image- https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-47891902Shoutouts5th – 7th Apr 2019 – Melbourne Supanova 2019, Shaun from Comics2movies was there. - https://www.facebook.com/Comics2movies/7 Apr 1832 – Local farmer Joseph Thompson, a local farmer who was married in the year 1829, to his present wife was sold to Henry Mears, a pensioner, for the sum of 20 shillings and his Newfoundland dog - https://www.onthisday.com/articles/the-man-who-sold-his-wife10 Apr 2019 – Falcon Heavy Rocket launch - https://www.nbcnews.com/mach/science/spacex-s-falcon-heavy-rocket-set-first-commercial-launch-here-ncna992446Remembrances9 Apr 1926 – William Henry Johnson also known as Zip the Pinhead, was an American freak show performer famous for his tapered head. While it is true no English language US recording seems to have surfaced of this episode, multiple newspapers have By The Book listed on the daily TV listings for that date. This week we talk about Ses 1 Ep 14, CYA, and Ses 1 Ep 15, Yours Truly, Max Klinger, both of which still seem to suffer from the symptom of trying to fit too much plot into too little time. That said, the plots moved at a good pace and were well written.

This week on #WhiskeyAndAfterMASH we talk about Season 1, Ep 12 (All About Christmas Eve) where there are six different plot threads. They include: Alma Cox finally feeling appreciated by Mike D'Angelo then feeling betrayed, turning her ire on Klinger; Father Mulcahy getting a donation of a 12 inch TV set from a department store; an ulcer patient arriving at General General who (as a separate plot) helps Dr. Pfiffer find his holiday spirit; another patient arriving who thinks his wife is cheating on him; and Klinger and Soon Lee finding out they are pregnant. In Season 1 Ep 13 (Chief of Staff) there are only about four plots including: D'Angelo getting a prostate operation; Cox feeling first finally appreciated by Mike, then rejected; Nurse Coleman, a black nurse, arriving at General General and her failed trial under fire; Pvt. Bob and another patient fighting over a (married) elder nurse; Potter's office being redecorated by Klinger and Mulcahy with his gear from the 4077th. Both were very dense, but Chief of Staff was, by far, the more viewable episode.

This week we talk about episode 10 (11?), Fallout, and 11 (12?), Bladder Day Saints. These two episodes feel like After MASH is starting to hit its stride in how they handle plots in the episodes. At most, Bladder Day Saints has two plots about vets with bladder issues getting checkups as well as another about the 1% case of a guy who wants attention and his VA benefits. But Fallout has, essentially, a single plot about the poisons that soldiers are exposed to (WWI - gas; WWII - radiation) in the government's fight for Victory. These are good, but Fallout still seems to try too hard to be a comedy when it needn't have been.

This week we review Sunday, Cruddy Sunday (Ses 1 Ep 8?) wherein the gang are all at General General on a Sunday for Visitor's Day and the 1st Annual Bake Sale. Next, we reviewThanksgiving of '53 (Ses 1 Ep 9?) which is exactly what it sounds like. In both of our opinions, Thanksgiving of '53 is the best episode of the series to date.
