Award-winning writer and actor Robert Wuhl returns (again!) to talk to the boys about his role in the movie “Saturday Night”, whether or not there were bigger plans for Alexander Knox in “Batman”, re-caps his 2024 Major League Baseball season predictions, shares what he would do if he was commissioner for a day and, because he's polite, listens to Shawn's horrific take on Mike Trout.
There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters. Join host Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor and Resident Bat-Maven, as he brings on several guests every month to share his passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. Thirty-five years ago, a little movie called BATMAN opened in theaters, known commonly today as Batman 1989. On this month's podcast, Daniel is joined once again by podcasting director of the pop break, Alex Marcus, and making his return to the pod, Editor-in-Chief of the pop break, Bill Bodkin, as they celebrate 35 years of one of the most important superhero movies ever made. The panel discuss not only the movie itself, but all the hype and BAT MANIA at the time of the film's release, and all recall their first time viewing this iconic motion picture. The Batman cereal is even discussed. Yes, Batman had a cereal.Aside from all the hoopla, the crew get into specifics on how they feel about this movie today, not only from when they first saw it, but also from how they felt about it since the three sat down for the very first episode of Batman by the Numbers. One panelist still loves it, one puts it firmly in the ‘meh' category, and the other is right in the middle. The three discuss everything, flaws and all. Keaton's performance is revisited, Batman's characterization, Joker's plot in the film, Vicki Vale, Prince, that big twist all these years later, and an unexpected HEATED debate on…Alexander Knox? Yup, that happened.Whether you love, detest, or fall somewhere in between Tim Burton's first Batman film, this is a discussion every Batman fan must hear. It's full nostalgia this month. ALSO…the crew tease a BIG EPISODE for next month as we celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Batman by the Numbers podcast. Some say they can't be killed. Some say they drink blood. Others simply say they are psychotic vigilantes…watchful protectors over the best and worst of retro action cinema. We are THE LAST ACTION HEROES and this episode we're suiting up to stalk the shadowy, crime ridden streets of Gotham in Tim Burton's 1989 franchise maker BATMAN!! Orphaned at an early age, lonesome brooding billionaire Bruce Wayne now stalks the twilight cityscape of Gotham as caped crime fighter Batman, sowing the seeds of fear and justice against the criminal underworld. However, with journalists Vicki Vale and Alexander Knox on his tail and following a fateful encounter at Axis Chemicals one night, the Bats legend is about to become reality with the emergence of a new type of villain with a taste for the theatrical: The Joker! What follows is a bat-shit (excuse the pun) crazy and insanely fun comic book romp that would set the template for action hero cinema for years to come and make a visionary young director every bit a household name as his pop culture creations. With truly excellent, trauma ridden lead performances from Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, a uniquely dark and oppressive take on Gotham and a questionably upbeat, New Wave soundtrack from none other than Prince, join BJORN-man, A-LEONfred, Harvey DANt and JESPER aka: ‘Bob the Goon' as they take on the film that singlehandedly kicked every other 80s era action hero square in the bollocks! Gentlemen…let's broaden our minds! ---------- Find us on Twitter: @TL_ActionHeroes Or find us on Instagram: @thelastactionheroespodcast

Zach & Zo finally go on a roadtrip to one of the most corrupt cities in America: Gotham City as imagined from the mind of Tim Burton. They investigate sightings of a mysterious figure in the Gotham underworld. A man with enormous strength and seemingly impenetrable skin. Most importantly, rumors say that he glides around the city with wings of a giant bat. Also threatening the city is a mob boss who dresses in clown make up murdering people on a whim in broad day light. Zach & Zo talk about what the citizens can do when faced with such ignominious figures. www.backlookcinema.comEmail: fanmail@backlookcinema.comTwitter: @backlookcinemaFacebook: The Back Look Cinema Podcast Instagram: backlookcinemapodcastThe song "It Takes One" by Jes Smith provided by Zapsplat.com

From shark repellent to awful misogyny, Andy and Tony explore Gotham city through the lens of two films with the same name and very different themes. Important questions: Has Adam West been to space? How many war crimes had Batman committed? Can Tim Burton make a good female character? Keep an ear out for us forgetting we're doing a Halloween episode for most of the actual podcast. Important questions: Is Seymour a sociopath? Is Audrey better with no character, or a very problematic one? WHO WILL DIE IN THESE MOVIES!?!? Keep an ear out after the show for the sounds of Andy slowly losing it as he watches the infamous alternate ending, cut over an instrumental version of "Don't Feed the Plants." Our outro music is Theme from Penguins on Parade by Lee Rosevere. Find us on twitter! Andy is @royalty_valens Tony is @theaterbats
Arcade Eddie is stretchered away as Porkins enters the fray. He tells tales of a giant Bat which nobody is buying... all except for reporter Alexander Knox! Will Knox be the man to get the scoop, or will he be made to look like a chump? Find out on today's Bat Minute '89! The next episode follows on Wednesday! Same Bat Pod, different Bat Minute!
Bob, Corinne, and Tim prowl the dark alleys of Gotham to take on the cultural phenomenon that was Tim Burton's Batman from 1989. We discuss the controversial casting of Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, compare the movie's depiction of the Dark Knight to his other TV and film appearances, and ponder the Batmobile-sized plot holes in its screenplay. Warning: Contains explicit language, spoilers, and speculation on the potential crime-fighting career of the Mooseman!
