Episode Summary: Today we're diving into a topic that doesn't always get the spotlight—how I handle low time in range blood sugar days. I'm walking you through what happened, what I was feeling, and the 5 things I always do to reset—physically, mentally, and emotionally. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen my CGM graphs when I'm in range after eating pizza or a bagel, and while I love sharing those wins to show what's possible, it's just as important to keep it real when things don't go as planned. We all have days when our numbers aren't where we want them to be, and that's okay. It doesn't mean we're failing—it just means we're human. If this episode resonates, share it with another T1D—you never know how far a little support can go on the hard days.Quick Takeaways:First and foremost: EVERY T1D has bad blood sugar days, what matters is how you respond How to get to a place where these days are more rare then they are normal Lauren's five steps for overcoming a bag blood sugar day Why reflecting on these days is important & how to stop procrastinating it Recognizing low TIR days as data to move forward *instead of* a reflection of failure Timestamps:[01:05] Introduction into today's episode [02:27] “It was purely a 100 % human error” [03:07] Events leading up [04:46] “Everything was good until Friday night…”[08:12] Reflections of the day [09:31] “The thing that drives my A1C below six and my 80 to 90 % time in range is not…”[10:27] Debriefing/dissecting the 24-hour graph [12:55] FIVE things that I always do after a tough blood sugar day[25:23] The 4 reasons we avoid reflection–and how to recognize them in yourself What to do now: Follow me @lauren_bongiorno and @riselyhealth on Instagram to stay in the loop when new episodes drop.If you have blood sugar days like this more often than not and you're tired of navigating this alone and want support, this is exactly what we can support you on inside our signature Group Coaching Program for women with diabetes–Apply for coaching and talk to our team so you can reclaim the life you deserve.

We talk with Dr. Shai Secunda about the Babylonian rabbis' science of blood, breaking taboos through sex education, and menstruation as a cure for rabies.Today, taboos about menstruation keep thousands of girls from attending school. For Jewish sages in late antique Persia, such beliefs led to laws that required women to stay away from their husbands during their periods and to wash at prescribed times. (Whether women followed these laws is another question!) Blood could pollute, yet it could also purify. And practices around menstruation may have helped religious communities define their identity. A patient arrives at the accident and emergency unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a complaint of searing pain in his arm. He says that an NHS nurse had come to his home earlier that morning to administer a covid booster, and he had been in agony ever since. 92.9 The Game Atlanta Falcons Reporter Joe Patrick speaks about his takeaways from the comments made by Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot this week, if waiting to make a decision on Kirk Cousins actually going to change anything, if there is bad blood between Kirk and the Falcons or if that's just a made-up fan discussion, and Atlanta United feeling like they're a fun team again.
This is one juicy episode! We start by exchanging Taylor Swift-themed food puns and scavenger hunt ideas. And although hilarious, Tay Tay, we're begging you, give us something to discuss! We both blow eachother's minds when we discuss our new shit. Sam gives a special shoutout, and Rachel waffles before finally settling on the new shit she was meant to discuss. Dolly Parton meets modern pop? Hell yeah! The cocktails come into play and Sam gets angry at Rachel for stealing his title. Which title is that? You'll have to listen to find out, but let's just say it has everything to do with a certain Bad Blood Eras Tour performance. Speaking of Bad Blood, the spirit is deep with this song. The lore behind this massive hit takes a while to dissect. And although we both agree the lyrics aren't particularly strong, the meaning and power behind this song signifies a massive success for Taylor. Sam loves it, Rachel feels meh. But that's what makes this smash hit song so fun!
Big Fat Five: A Podcast Financially Supported by Big Fat Snare Drum
Welcome back to Drummers on Drumming, the podcast powered by Big Fat Snare Drum. This is another segment of Big Fat Five, where I invite my favorite drummers to break down the five records that shaped their approach to the instrument. Today, I'm joined by my friend Chris “Woody” Wood, drummer for the internationally loved band, Bastille. Since exploding onto the scene with Bad Blood in 2013, Bastille has become a staple of modern alt-pop—balancing sweeping, atmospheric moments with massive sing-along choruses. Woody's playing is a perfect example of how space, groove, and feel can elevate a song without ever getting in the way—something especially crucial in an arena-sized band like Bastille. But make no mistake, he still finds his moments, keeping his playing fresh, musical, and relevant for well over a decade. Beyond the kit, Woody is just a hilarious and thoughtful dude. He even co-hosts his own podcast, Away Days w/ Woody and Piers, a comedic deep dive into the world of away football fandom. We get into all of that and more—while uncovering the five records that shaped him into the drummer he is today. --- Get Your Copy of the Drummers on Drumming Book Today!

How did a chaotic Taylor Swift ticket sale lead to DOJ filing a suit against the largest entertainment company in the world? In yet another example of how administrative law touches our everyday lives, we examine the DOJ's pursuit to exercise its enforcement powers by pursuing antitrust claims against Live Nation and its subsidiary, Ticketmaster. Attorney Reb Masel from Rebuttal Podcast, joins us to discuss the legal framework that grants DOJ enforcement power and the extent to which DOJ—and other agencies—can wield it. BAD BLOOD, 19min., Argentina Directed by Guillermo Ronco Abandoned by the state and with his daughter's life at stake, police officer Rafael chooses to break his deepest convictions and commit a crime to resolve his situation. But when what was supposed to be a robbery turns into a kidnapping, he discovers that there are limits he cannot cross. https://www.instagram.com/lucero_audiovisual/ Get to know the filmmaker: What motivated you to make this film? In 2018/19, I began developing my first feature film, “Saints of Buenaventura”, but it was canceled due to the COVID pandemic. So, my next move to push forward this project was to shoot a short film with similar characteristics in terms of tone and artistic style. So, I took the structure of the third act of the first draft of that script and turned it into a story with a beginning and end in less than 20 minutes. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video? It was awesome! The way they got engaged and moved by the story, and their comments about the right pacing and the sound score building suspense and anticipation. I work so consciously on those topics that it makes me very proud that I got them right. Feedback is priceless for us filmmakers. Thanks so much for that! Dan Smith is the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of the British band Bastille, known for their anthemic, cinematic pop-rock sound. Born on July 14, 1986, in London, England, he rose to international fame with Bastille's breakout single, "Pompeii," in 2013, followed by the success of their debut album Bad Blood. Influenced by literature, film, and history, Smith's lyrics often explore themes of human emotion, social issues, and storytelling. Beyond Bastille, he collaborates with other artists and works on side projects, showcasing his versatility and passion for creative expression.Bastille's latest album, '&' (Ampersand), released on October 25, 2024, is a concept project delving into the lives of historical and mythological figures. The album comprises four parts, each focusing on different pairs of individuals, with songs like "Blue Sky & The Painter," inspired by artist Edvard Munch, and "Leonard & Marianne," exploring the relationship between Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen. As part of the album Dan launched a new History/Music/Pop Culture Podcast MUSES which he does with Emma Nagouse (producer of You're Dead To Me) where they discuss these figures in history.

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell - along with researcher and reporter Beth Braden - take a fresh look at what Myrtle Beach Pastor JP Miller seemed to be saying in his bizarre ramblings in front of his congregation the day after his wife, Mica Francis, died. And then they go back even further to explore the insidious messages JP seems to have received from his semi-famous father, Pastor Wayne Miller, during his divorce from JP's mom in 2001. From telling the court about “unexplained lingerie” and “unwholesome” conversations over AOL, Wayne Miller responded to his estranged wife's accusations with a fiery vengeance as he sought to maintain custody of his children and pay zero dollars and zero cents in alimony. Also on the show, journalist/researcher Beth Braden reports on the latest strange dealings that appear to have grown from Solid Rock Ministries, specifically a massive transfer of assets to JP's assistant AND a new nonprofit filing attached to several people in the JP MIller ecosystem. Next week, we'll dive into Cory Fleming's first post-conviction… non-appearance? What went down at today's restitution hearing.
