While the media tried to tell America that president Trump is the least popular commander in chief ever, Trump was taking a victory lap with an incredible speech in Michigan.  It was a total takedown of globalists, a boost for working folks and a complete tribute to American Exceptionalism.  And, you probably laughed your tail off he was so funny.    We've learned more disturbing details about firefighter Graham Hoffman's death this weekend at the hands of a mad woman in his ambulance.  Also, a son in Grain Valley is looking at years and years in prison for being the worst son on earth.    That viral video of the speed boat crashing in Arizona gets even more interesting.  They won the race... and.... the team is from KC.  We have the details.    The Royals win another low scoring game, 3-1 over the Rays.  It's never comfortable or easy with this light hitting team... but maybe we are missing the big picture.    The Chiefs make commitments to two young defensive starts, a former tight end was right all along about Shedeur Sanders and a writer that puts out a gripe list focuses on places he hates leaving tips.

Held annually, The Boat Race is contested between crews from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge along a 4.2-mile (6.8 km) tidal stretch of the River Thames in south-west London. This would have been the 75th women's race and the 166th men's race, and for the fifth time in the history of the event, the men's, women's and both reserves' races would have been held on the Tideway on the same day. Cambridge led the longstanding rivalry 84–80 and 44–30 in the men's and women's races, respectively. The races were cancelled on 16 March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom. Other than as a result of war, it was the first time the men's race had been cancelled since it has taken place annually from 1845. It was also the first cancellation of the women's race since its 1964 revival. It would have been the first time in the history of the event that both senior races had been umpired by women. The members of each crew were announced on the date that the race would have been conducted. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:59 UTC on Sunday, 13 April 2025.For the full current version of the article, see The Boat Race 2020 on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Amy.

Today on the Logan Blackman Show we recap Iowa's 40-14 home victory against Northwestern which saw Brendan Sullivan replace Cade McNamara at the quarterback position. We go over the events that led to Sullivan coming in, taking a look at how he did in comparison and discuss whether or not McNamara was actually hurt or if he just got flat out benched. We then take a look at the most recent Heisman odds which sees a new face atop the pile with Boise State's Ashton Jeanty falling after a 'rough' game against UNLV. Moving to the NFL we take a look at Anthony Richardson tapping himself out of the Colts game against the Texans because he was 'too tired.' We go over why that was one of the wildest things we've seen from a quarterback, how that effects his standing within the team, and pick between Richardson and Bryce Young for who we would start our franchise with. We then recap this past weekends action in the NFL, though focus mainly on the Bills boat racing the Seahawks 31-10, as well as looking at the updated MVP odds and discuss why we may have had a change of heart. Finally, we take part in a quickfire mock draft to help decide which quarterbacks will go where in April's draft. Enjoy!

Episode 92 The First Sports Broadcasts: from 'Yachts Slowly Drifting' to MCR21   Our moment-by-moment origin story of British broadcasting reaches 6th June 1923 - and what's sometimes thought to be the BBC's first sports broadcast: author Edgar Wallace giving his 'reflections on the Derby'... ...The trouble is, it wasn't the BBC's first sports broadcast. But then... what is a sports broadcast? A live commentary? Or will a later summary do? Or how about a police radio transmission, where the Epsom Derby winner happens to be mentioned for anyone listening to hear? This episode we bring you the tales of every early landmark sports broadcast we know about, including: Special guest Nick Gilbey, trustee of the Broadcasting Television Technology Trust and one of the doer-uppers of the mighty MCR21 mobile control room van, first built in 1963, and now looking snappier than ever. The BBC's actual first sports broadcaster - forgotten for a century - Willie Clissett, on Cardiff 5WA with a weekly 'Chat on Sport of the day' from 2 April 1923. Was it rugby? Let's say yes. It was Wales. How jockey Steve Donoghue somehow became Britain's first broadcast sports champion... ion 3 occasions across 3 different years. He was on Britain's first sports broadcast, winning 1921's Epsom Derby. Edgar Wallace reported on his win at 1923's Epsom Derby. And his win was shouted on-air by a passerby, upsetting the press, at 1925's Epsom Derby. Three different horses, three landmark broadcasts, one incredible jockey. The boxing and billiards on London 2LO in 1922. Early clips of Wimbledon, the Boat Race and the Derby. And was the first sports broadcast Marconi's 1899 Morse message 'Yachts Slowly Drifting'? In which case, was the first sports broadcaster actually Guglielmo Marconi himself?! Correct us on any of the above! Seriously. Please do. We want this to be an accurate record of events! Not with or at the behest of today's Corporation... ...Although we gladly will. Corporation - call me! Next time: Summer 1923 on the BBC - music, the first whisper of television, and a cheeky pop-up station in Plymouth.  More info on this broadcasting history project at paulkerensa.com/oldradio
