Happy Hour 152: Bruce Bowen Better Than Draymond VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S5jUjrQnRM&t=2280s&ab_channel=HNBMediaTV-Highlights%26Sports
Introduction: In this episode of the Alamo City Sportscast, host Mike Jimenez delves into the ongoing controversies surrounding Draymond Green, touching upon his recent on-court conduct, the comparisons with Spurs' player Jeremy Sochan, and concerns about the Spurs' performance. Despite the rainy day in San Antonio, Texas, Mike brings a fervor to dissecting the latest in sports news, inviting audience engagement and offering a candid perspective on various issues. Main Points: 1. Draymond Green's On-Court Conduct Mike begins by dissecting Draymond Green's recent actions on the court, specifically highlighting an incident involving a violent hit on Yousef Nurcic. He emphasizes Green's history of ejections, suspensions, and the lack of remorse for his actions, labeling him as potentially the NBA's dirtiest player since past figures like Ron Artest. 2. Spurs' Performance and Coach's Responsibility Transitioning to the Spurs' performance, Mike delves into their current struggles, attributing some blame to Coach Gregg Popovich and the team management. He questions the impact of coaching decisions on player development, mentioning the case of Jeremy Sochan and his inconsistent performances. 3. Reflections on Jeremy Sochan and Team Dynamics Expanding on the Jeremy Sochan comparison to Draymond Green, Mike explores the overestimation of Sochan's defensive abilities and raises concerns about how the Spurs utilize such players within their team dynamic. 4. Evaluating Draymond Green's Role and Future Mike offers a critical perspective on Green's status as a potential Hall of Famer, examining whether his contributions to the Golden State Warriors are indeed on par with his reputation. He discusses the possible influence of the team's acceptance or fostering of Green's behavior. 5. Player Comparisons and Spurs' Defensive Strategies Drawing parallels between past Spurs players known for their defensive prowess, Mike navigates through the distinction between rough play and a player with malicious intent. He examines the defensive abilities of notable Spurs figures like Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry. 6. Concerns about Team Composition and Player Traits Touching on the Spurs' current challenges, Mike expresses doubts about Draymond Green's fit within the team's ethos. He emphasizes the importance of player character and suitability within the Spurs' organizational culture. 7. Audience Engagement and Personal Health Journey The episode also involves interactions with the audience, encompassing discussions on personal health journeys, intermittent fasting, and fitness regimens, showcasing a more personal side to the podcast.
The 76ers took a 3-2 lead in their series with the Celtics last night, headlined by 33 points from Joel Embiid and 30 from Tyrese Maxey. Meanwhile, in 33-plus minutes on the court, P.J. Tucker scored three points, on 1-of-4 shooting. That's normal stuff. Tucker is averaging 3.6 points per game in this year's playoffs, and he's played at least 21:21 (he rested for a lot of the Game 2 blowout in Boston) in all nine of the 76ers' games. Not a single time has he been a double-figure scorer.Who holds the record for such a thing? Going with the next-lowest round number, the most single-digit scoring games by a player logging at least 20 minutes in the playoffs is … wait for it … P.J. Tucker of the 2020-21 champion Milwaukee Bucks. The Sixers aren't guaranteed 11 more playoff games for Tucker to try to tie his own record, and in fact they may not want 11 more — if they just win the next nine, they'll be NBA champs. If that does happen, Tucker can at least tie the Philadelphia team record, set in the 2001 Finals run by Tyrone Hill. That tied the NBA record at the time, 18 games of 20-plus minutes and single-digit points, set by Dennis Rodman with the 1998 Bulls. It's subsequently also been matched by Bruce Bowen with the 2005 Spurs. On the all-time list, Tucker tied Bill Cartwright for 13th place last night with his 64th career postseason game playing at least 20 minutes and not cracking 10 points. Up next are Caldwell Jones and Michael Cooper in an 11th-place tie at 65, with the top 10 in reach if the Sixers keep rolling. The top 10?* Robert Horry 113* Derek Fisher 106* Rodman 99* Bowen 98* Paul Silas 84* Danny Green, Andre Iguodala, Kendrick Perkins, and Ben Wallace 78* Dale Davis 71It's all the more impressive when you consider that Tucker didn't make the playoffs until he was in his 30s with the Raptors, having previously played in Israel, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Germany, and Phoenix. As recently as 2019, he averaged 11.4 points per game in the playoffs with the Rockets.Tucker also is now one win away from going to a third straight Eastern Conference finals with a third different team. We Wrote a Book!!! Based on our scripts for The Fall of the Spurs Dynasty, we have written a 250 page book on the San Antonio Spurs Dynasty. The Book is Available February 21st, 2023, and you can preorder or purchase https://linktr.ee/spurssixthchampionship here Here's the Back Cover Description of The Spurs Dynasty: A Historical Account of the Most Successful Dynasty in North American Pro Sports For 30 years, the San Antonio Spurs were one of the best teams in professional basketball. Led by Gregg Popovich, the Spurs set incredibly high standards, very often surpassed those, and set new, more ambitious standards. They drafted five Hall of Fame basketball players, won Championships in three different decades, and set countless records across an unprecedented run from 1989-2018. As their competition fell, history became the greatest adversary the Spurs faced, and like all great dynasties of history, they eventually fell too. When the Spurs Dynasty fell, it was one of the most bizarre stories in the 75-year history of professional basketball. An undiagnosable injury led to breakdowns in trust, new apparel contracts, players-only meetings, relationship fallouts, and so much more. The fallout then takes the story on an unexpected detour from Texas to Canada. In the end, despite sustaining success for an unprecedented 30 years, the Spurs Dynasty fell 10 years sooner than it could have. This is their story: David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginóbili, Tony Parker, Bruce Bowen, Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, and the San Antonio Spurs. The most successful dynasty in North American professional sports. *** Kyle Ledbetter is a 21 year old Author, Historian, Podcast host and producer. The writing and research for that documentary series became the foundation for this book. Born and raised in San Diego, Kyle currently lives in Sacramento, California working as an author and a host/producer of sports radio and podcasts. This book is Kyle's debut as a published author. Bruce Bowen: Former San Antonio Spurs Forward, TMI Head Basketball Coach on the Spurs youth, the growth of the team and the Dallas Cowboys
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics NBA Pick Prediction 11/24/2021 by Tony T. Nets at Celtics—Out for the Nets are Joe Harris, Bruce Bowen and Nicolas Claxton all reserves. For Boston Jaylen Brown is questionable. Listed as injury management as he returned Monday playing 23 minutes. Reserve Josh Richardson is questionable with an illness. Brooklyn has won six of seven after a five point road win at Cleveland to start the trip. They are defending as in their past five games allowing 42.7% shooting with 31.3% from three. Celtics have played a weak schedule on this home stand. In their lone step up game the Celtics were beaten 110-99 at Atlanta. Play Brooklyn -1.
