What if the gap in your financial security isn't your income or your discipline, but the fact that nobody ever taught you to speak money with confidence? In this episode of Life of And, Tiffany sits down with Nicole Lorch, President and COO at First Internet Bank, to launch a new series focused on money, influence, and leadership. Together, they explore why so many capable, high-performing women still feel uncertain when it comes to financial decisions. Nicole shares how childhood money patterns shape adult instincts, why saving without intention can stall long-term growth, and how influence is what ultimately creates meaningful impact. The conversation moves from mindset to action, covering practical starting points like building a rainy-day fund, contributing early to retirement accounts, and creating transparency inside the home. Nicole also offers insight into raising money-smart teens and helping families shift from secrecy or tension around finances to shared goals and trust. This episode reframes money as a tool: one that expands leadership, resilience, and opportunity when women become fluent in how it works. What You'll Learn:A simple, accessible starting point to make your savings work harderA healthier framework for talking about money at home without tensionA clearer understanding of how financial fluency expands your influenceReady to Put Your Money to Work? In the rapid-moving world of delegated money management, it is important to recognize the differences in how mutual funds and alternative assets operate. When it comes to alternatives, how do these funds wind up with strong incentive contracts for the money managers as opposed to flat fee contracts more commonly seen in mutual funds? Why do managers of alternatives cap their fund sizes when it could potentially lead to lower fees?On this episode, hosts and finance professors Jonathan Berk and Jules van Binsbergen examine the key differences between mutual funds and alternatives, by unpacking research in a new paper co-authored by Berk. The conversation covers performance fees, persistent alpha, limits on capital, and the key liquidity distinction between mutual funds and alternatives. Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is God First Essential Church January 25, 2026
“Put your money where your mouth is” 可不是 “把钱放在嘴上” 的意思!不少小伙伴看到 “Put your money where your mouth is” 这个表达可能会困惑,“put” 是放,“money” 是钱,“mouth” 是嘴巴,字面直译好像是 “把钱放在你的嘴上”。 If you tell someone 'You need to put your money where your mouth is', you're telling that person to stop talking and do something instead. “Put your money where your mouth is”翻译成中文可以是:说到做到、言行一致、拿出实际行动来证明If you're so confident about the project's success, why not put your money where your mouth is and invest in it? She claims she's the best cook in the neighborhood—let her put her money where her mouth is and host a dinner party. The first thing is that it shows other investors that you are willing to put your money where your mouth is, and that you will take good care of the fund because it's your money at stake too.

In this episode of Relish, hosts Roe Miller and Don Patterson tackle practical questions about prayer, money, and Scripture that many believers face. A young questioner, Rowan, prompts a wide-ranging discussion about prayer's role in major life decisions like choosing a college and seeking God's calling, and how prayer brings peace and clarity during uncertain seasons. The conversation moves into ethics and stewardship: should Mennonites and advocates of nonviolence invest in defense companies? Don urges listeners to “put your money where your mouth is,” reflecting on how investments reveal the priorities of our hearts. They then unpack tithe and giving—what 10% means, the difference between tithes, gifts, and offerings, and the danger of turning generosity into legalism. Scripture (including Malachi 3 and Jesus' teaching in Matthew 6) is used to highlight generosity as a joyful, heart-driven response rather than a checkbox. Don also addresses theological questions about what we've truly earned versus what God has given, emphasizing that all good gifts come from God and we remain indebted to grace. The hosts consider whether it's possible to out-give God and reject keeping a ledger mentality in favor of relationship-based giving. Finally, the episode raises concerns about Bible literacy and access to Scripture: they warn against letting the Bible sit on a shelf or only relying on apps, and encourage embedding Scripture into daily life so it can serve as a lamp in dark or difficult times. Practical references include traditional Sunday school resources and the reality that digital access can fail, underscoring the value of internalized Scripture. Throughout, Roe and Don offer pastoral, down-to-earth guidance—balancing doctrine, personal experience, and Scripture—and invite listeners to send questions, share the podcast, and join the conversation as they seek to grow deeper in faith and faithful living.

DSD 6.8 | That is where you should put your money For years researchers have sought out to better understand control mechanisms for a successful transition into lactation from the dry period. We've learned changing body condition score during the dry period is not acceptable, but what if it changes during late lactation? How does this impact energy partitioning for the next lactation? Well managed high producing cows with high fertility might find themselves bred back in less than the “textbook ideal” condition score heading into the dry period. Can we alter the late lactation ration to successfully increase condition with little impact? Dr. Laura Hernandez from the University of Wisconsin worked with a team of researchers at the Forage Center to better understand what is happening if high energy is fed late in lactation through extensive data collection to determine the possible potential carry over effects for subsequent lactations. Hello and welcome to another episode of The Entrepreneurial Mindset Project, where I tease out the hidden logic that enables ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things through finding solutions. In this episode, I'm speaking with Dr. Meena McCullough, a physical therapist who became an unlikely entrepreneur. Frustrated by the limitations of the medical system, she found herself constantly complaining. Yet she was motivated to take action after a friend challenged her with these simple words, "Put your money where your mouth is." This pivotal moment challenged her to shift her mindset towards solution-driven thinking in a way that ultimately led her to start her own business. She began with a simple solution—creating flashcards to help caregivers who worked with patients who were suffering from dementia. Once she saw that her idea actually worked, she was inspired to address larger challenges for those who suffered from chronic pain. Today, she has a thriving practice of her own, one that is revolutionizing physical therapy. Dr. Meena's story is a master class in entrepreneurship: look for problems to solve, try things on a small scale, and continuously learn and adapt. And, rather than taking big risks, she began by experimenting in the margins, after work and on weekends, building prototypes and refining her ideas through customer feedback. She also described the difficulty of overcoming self-doubt and dealing with negativity as well as the value of persistence, passion, and embracing uncertainty. What I love about Dr. Meena's story is the simplicity of it all. Look for problems in your everyday life. Stop complaining and start solving. The ability to identify and solve problems is something anyone can do. So, without any further ado, I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dr. Meena McCullough.

Most people struggle with money—not because they don't earn enough, but because they don't know how to use it. If I could go back, here's what I'd do differently (and what I'd double down on). Whether you're just starting out or looking to level up your financial game, this episode is for you. What You'll Learn:✅ Invest in Yourself First. The best ROI isn't in stocks or real estate—it's in your skills, mindset, and knowledge. ✅ Adopt an Abundance Mindset. There's always room for greatness. Focus on opportunities, not limitations. ✅ Diversify Your Income. One income stream = high risk. Build multiple to create security. ✅ Put Your Money to Work. Saving alone won't make you wealthy—investing will. Automate and forget it. ✅ Live Below Your Means. A high income means nothing if you're drowning in debt. Smart spending = real wealth. If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who needs to hear it.
