I have a Meng Spice Harvester from Dune to be painted and weathered and I've started a Revell 1/24 Land Rover Series IIIGeoff - nothing. Sweet diddly squat. Up to my neck in a 1:1 home demolition/renovation with lots of “surprises” that - like most surprises - were unexpected! On the positive side, the F16 I built as a USAF pilot's retirement gift was very warmly received, as was the C47 in Rocco Flamefart Fire Rescue markings, which now has a place of honour on my brother's mantle. Also still plugging through the latest ex-modellers stash and library…Terry - Christmas birds are done.[foogallery id="3845"]Tony - I've been working on a bunch of (Premium) P-Bandai Gundams since September. There are a total of four Master Grade, (1:100 scale) Gudams which were re-released in special black and neon colors. Included are Barbatos, Exia, Aile Strike along with the original RX-78-2.All are being built straight out-of-the-box, in an attempt to breathe some life back into my numerous, ongoing modeling projects which have been relegated to my Shelf-of-Doom!To date, I've completed 3 of them, (Barbatos, Exia and Aile Strike), with just the RX-78-2 Remaining. In the meantime, I recently started two Gundams from Netflix's Requiem of Vengeance series. I just finished applying and cleaning up a wash I applied to my assembled RX, and am in the midst of trying to do a color conversion of the dark gray portions of the Zaku. I'm looking to give these parts a metallic look, but using diluted AK True Metal (paste).[foogallery id="3855"]

OOIDA is once again urging the FMCSA to take action on broker transparency. We'll discuss that – plus the latest on FMCSA pre-emption of meal and rest breaks in two states – with OOIDA Director of Federal Affairs Jay Grimes. Also, a transport company recently stepped up to help deliver parts for a project to assemble a C47 at Camp Toccoa in Currahee, Georgia. And dating back to the mid-‘90s, several decisions were made that sought to open up the U.S. southern border to Mexico-based motor carriers. The effort ultimately failed – and OOIDA can be thanked for that. 0:00 – Newscast 10:06 – OOIDA to FMCSA: Act on broker transparency 24:50 – Delivering an airplane, one part at a time 39:18 – The effort to stop cross-border trucking with Mexico

Just recently, photos circulated the internet about a DC-3 being reinstalled on its amphibious EDO floats after 14 years without them. I tracked down Jakob McKenney, who is writing a book all about the history of the DC-3 and C-47 amphibian floatplanes. He shares some incredible stories about the aircraft and the unique floats they sit on.https://www.aviationnarration.comComplete a survey about On the Step to help it grow!https://forms.gle/rQ3bwFfJuVZqWN1P8Follow me on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/thatmallardguy/Check out my YouTube Channel!https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCk6O4NEHd-Q5StSNLLfbjuw?view_as=subscriber

As part of the 75th anniversary of the D Day invasion of Nazi held Europe in 1944, Douglas DC3s, C47s and Dakotas came from around the world to reenact the Airborne troops parachute drops that first put Allied boots on the ground. In this second part of the story, I chat to Sherman Smoot, Betsy's Chief Pilot and Nick Comacho, a pilot of the C47, Betsy's Biscuit Bomber.

One C-47 troop carrier was so visible in the D-Day Invasion of World War II that it was emblazoned with its own message for Adolph Hitler: “That’s all… brother.”It’s been nearly 75 years since that day, and you might assume that one of the lead aircraft of the main invasion force would be on display in a museum somewhere – but you’d be wrong. A few years back, an Air Force historian named Matt Scales was researching the late Lt. Col. John Donalson of Birmingham, AL who was reportedly credited with piloting the lead aircraft that dropped the main group of paratroopers along the French coast in preparation for the assault on June 6, 1944.All told, 900 planes carried the message of “That’s all… brother” but Donalson’s was one of the leads because it was equipped with an early form of a radar system. When Scales dug deeper, he discovered that the plane – which had changed hands many times over the years – had never crashed or been damaged, and was actually sitting in an aircraft boneyard in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.Texas-based Commemorative Air Force preserves military aircraft and set to work on the plane, which was badly corroded and partially disassembled. After rebuilding the piston engines and adding “modern navigation and radio equipment and a fresh coat of paint,” it was air-ready once more, making its inaugural flight in February of last year. Now the C-47 will join other vintage planes at D-Day 75th anniversary ceremonies in June, including a staged reenactment where “paratroopers” will be dropped along the French coast at Normandy.

Today we sit down with someone I’ve looked up to in the production world for a long time, Jem Schofield. Jem created TheC47, a full-service production company and educational resource focused on teaching the craft of video production and filmmaking. He has a 22-year long career, beginning by creating brand focused web content and eventually finding his passion in video production. Jem has a wide range of knowledge of everything production related, and shares this information with his YouTube viewers, clients, and with us here today! The long-term success of TheC47 is due to the fact that Jem has always had a clear vision for his brand and what he wants to produce, starting as an educational platform, and growing to focus on filmmaking, production, consulting and education. By combining his unique teaching style with consistency and passion, he creates memorable content and shares his expertise with other small-to-no crew production teams. He believes that you must be passionate about what you are creating for it to translate to your audience, and shares his advice on how to turn that passion into a career. This week our team hunkers down and puts in long days of shooting the scene for the second film project. The team consists of Jonathan, Dennis, Mike, John and myself. Despite difficulties, all the effort pays off. I hope I'm not spoiling the suspense for you.In process of learning my lines and and other performance skills, during an impromptu acting bootcamp, I have a story writing epiphany that releases me from the curse of writer's block. There are a few technical details I include, such as a production breakdown list, a shot list or storyboard, a master shot, blocking and what is a C47.I also try to describe the the wonderful feeling that you get after you stop banging your head against a wall, also known as success. Finally there's a fair bit of talk about the satisfaction that comes from working as a team. I admit that my description is a little over the top, particularly where I invoke a few lines from Shakespeare's St Crispen's day speech as delivered by Henry V. But I do mean it. I love that speech by the way. There's a particularly poignant performance in the Danny Devito film Renaissance Man, it's worth checking out.All told, it was a week of hard effort, valuable insight and worthwhile achievement.Drop me a line at videostudentguy@gmail.com or leave a comment. In any event, thanks for stopping by.
