Red, White & Blues FC | £117m for Morgan Rogers and a Rumor Mill Gone FeralChelsea break the Premier League transfer record, ship Garnacho off to Villa, and get linked to roughly half of Europe — and we're cynical about most of it.Transfer season is here, and Daniel opened the show by torturing Jason all day with an all-caps text promising a “big surprise announcement” that had nothing to do with transfers. The payoff: bald fraud Anthony Taylor is retiring, and we will never have to watch him officiate a Chelsea match again. From there it's a genuinely wild 48–72 hours of business — one record signing, one loan exit, and a rumor list long enough to need its own spreadsheet. We're happy, we're skeptical, and we're bracing for the moment BlueCo inevitably breaks our hearts again.Anthony Taylor Rides Off — and No, We're Not “Delusional”We saw The Athletic's framing coming: fans piling on Taylor at retirement supposedly proves how “delusional” supporters are about referees. We push back hard. We're not anti-referee — we know it's a brutal job, the gear, the whining twenty-somethings surrounding you every match. We're anti-Premier League referees, and we are 1,000% anti-Anthony Taylor specifically. The only bittersweet part is we'll never get to hear that Chelsea terrace chant about him again.Morgan Rogers for £117m — Record Signing, Familiar DoubtsThe big one: Morgan Rogers joins from Aston Villa for a reported £117m, a new Premier League record, on a six-plus-one. The Xabi Alonso “pull” narrative is everywhere — a phone call, Cole Palmer's friendship, Chelsea being Chelsea — and this is where Daniel and Jason go back and forth. Daniel refuses to swallow the “Chubby wanted him so Chubby got him” line whole, pointing out we heard the exact same thing about Maresca and Pochettino. Yes, a serious manager helps recruitment; no, it doesn't explain everything, and the round-table “Knights of Chelsea” mythology (with Eghbali cast as King Arthur) is media hype. Both of us land in the same place: Rogers is a good player, 23, on sensible wages, fitting the buy-young-sell-high model — but we overpaid, and we don't actually know where he fits. Double tens? Wing? Wing-back under Alonso? Nobody's sure. The Money Doesn't Add Up — and the Defense Pays for ItWe dig into the We Ain't Got No History math floating around: the Rogers fee roughly equals what Chelsea banked from Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, and the Maresca compensation. We both flag the same flaw — those are gross numbers, and we were still paying wages on most of them, so the “we basically got Rogers for free” spin doesn't hold. What's undeniable is Chelsea sell better than anyone (£400m+ shifted, largely pure-profit academy kids), which is how the spending happens. But Jason's frustration is the through-line of the whole episode: for the same £117m, Chelsea could have had a center back and a goalkeeper. Instead it's another attacker, and the back line is in the lurch again. And, oh yeah — still no front-of-shirt sponsor, four years running, £200m+ left on the table.Garnacho Out, and the Great Rumor AvalancheGarnacho heads to Villa on loan with a soft, appearance-based option around £43m — meaning Chelsea might somehow turn a profit on a player nobody wanted. Good riddance and good luck; Villa's own subreddit is bracing for another reclamation project (”if Unai Emery can't fix him, no one can”). Then we speed-run the rumor mill: Maxence Lacroix inching closer (but don't get fooled, we've seen Chelsea put all their marbles in one basket before), Nico possibly reuniting with Emery, Bruno Guimarães as a possible Arsenal hijack, Enzo Fernández linked to Atlético and quietly to City, and the one that actually excites us — Cristian Romero from Spurs in a swap that offloads Neto. We've begged for years for a proper asshole in this squad; Romero, red cards and all, might finally be our asshole. Add Alex Scott, Adam Wharton, Illia Zabarnyi, Eduardo Camavinga, and a Bosnian teenage winger (Kerim Alajbegović) to the pile, and Fabrizio Romano is teasing a “Da Bomba” midfield transfer that's almost certainly just a name we've already heard. We close on Morgan Rogers one more time, on our own cynicism, and on the quiet hope — dangerous as it is — that this time it actually works. This is a public episode. Most youth camp games fail for one simple reason… and almost nobody realizes it. Leaders spend hours planning activities, but kids lose interest in minutes — and it's not because they're distracted or bored. Today, I'm sitting down with the creator of Camp Clue — a game that's been used in camps around the world to keep kids fully engaged. He's breaking down exactly why it works — and how you can design games that actually hold attention all week long. And how you can get it for yourself! It was an underwhelming night at Craven Cottage, to put it mildly. Both teams were poor, and chances were few and far between, despite Fulham attempting to score after less than 15 seconds. The Reds never got going and only had Murillo's 30 yarder as an effort on goal. In the meantime, Anthony Taylor proved why he is one of the most well-known refs in Premier League history. Arsenal leave Stamford Bridge with just one Premier League point after a chaotic afternoon defined by early bookings, a makeshift back line, and a referee who lost control long before Caicedo finally saw red. We break down the six cautions, the way Zubimendi's early yellow changed our midfield, the impact of Odegaard's introduction, and Merino's equaliser that shifted the momentum — plus the late chance for Gyökeres and Timber that could have won it.Despite the frustration, it still caps off a huge week for Arsenal: the derby win, the Bayern performance, and now a hard-earned point with Saliba, Gabriel and Trossard unavailable. In Part Two, we roll through a midweek Who Am I?, a full WATG recap, VARse (including the Alvarez penalty rule?), and a look ahead to Wednesday night's match against Brentford — a must-win before the trip to Villa Park.Settle in for a grounded, honest review of a fiery London afternoon and what it means for the week ahead.Chapters:(00:00) – Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:58) – Battle at the Bridge: Setting the Scene(01:49) – Lineup Changes & Saliba's Late Withdrawal(03:11) – Chelsea's Fast Start and Cucurella's Free Hits(04:48) – Six Arsenal Bookings and a Referee Out of Control(07:10) – Caicedo's Red Card and the Play-Acting Debate(08:59) – Chelsea's Tactics: Diving, Disruption, and Referee's Impact(11:58) – Arsenal's First-Half Chances & Sanchez's Spills(13:01) – Conceding Early in the Second Half(14:58) – Subs: Odegaard's Impact & Madueke's Struggles / Left-Side Chemistry Issue(19:00) – Merino's Equaliser: Saka's Brilliance & Odegaard's Spark(20:30) – Arteta's Sub Decisions: What Worked & What Didn't(23:20) – Final Chances: Gyökeres Collides with Sanchez & Timber's Header(24:22) – Was This Still a Good Week for Arsenal?(27:48) – By the Numbers & Big-Picture Reflection on the Chelsea Draw(29:08) – PT.2 Who Am I? Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. The 102nd episode of the show sees Danny breaking down Bayern Munich's heartbreaking loss in the FIFA Club World Cup to Paris Saint-Germain. The match was devastating for so many reasons, some bigger than football. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel for full coverage of the remainder of the CWC and all of the summer transfer news going forward. Bayern Munich lost a hard fought match to the best team in the world PSG by a final score of 2-0 to get eliminated from the FIFA CWC. Bayern & PSG truly put on one of the best matches of football we've seen in recent memory, two giants of the game going toe to toe at the highest of levels. All of this was unfortunately overshadowed by Jamal Musiala's gruesome injury from a reckless challenge by Paris keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The match was truly bizarre & fate was against the Bavarians. We saw multiple injuries to Bayern players, two offside goals, and a disallowed penalty. Danny breaks down the entire match from Vincent Kompany's lineup/tactics, to match highlights/lowlights, to scoring/injuries/cards, and individual player performances. Bayern's press was giving PSG all sorts of fits as the match began but no goals ended up sticking. Globally known as one of the poorest referees in the world. Anthony Taylor called no foul as Donnarumma snapped Musiala's ankle altering the trajectory of the game and Bayern Munich's entire upcoming season. PSG lost control of the match towards the end, earning two red cards for dangerous challenges involving studs to Leon Goretzka's leg and an elbow to Guerreiro's head. Josip Stanisic also suffered a hamstring injury and had to be subbed out. Before all was said and done Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele scored incredible goals and a handball in the box by PSG was awarded before Taylor inexplicably took it away. Bayern Munich is eliminated from the tournament. Chelsea's fortunates look great as they have a simple path to the CWC final. They beat Palmeiras 2-1 yesterday. From Sparks to Light - Inspiring Stories for Challenging Times
"Trust your heart, because in addiction, we lose faith in our own judgement and what we see as right or wrong," says “Taylor”, the name he gave himself after he embraced sobriety After years of struggling to leave addiction behind, he works to help others find their way to a sober life. "Have faith in yourself,” he says. “Believe in yourself because that's the only way that you're going to get sober and stay sober." Born in Sedalia, Missouri in a segregated community, his early years were marked with the traumas inherent in racism. At 10 he witnessed an event that would change the trajectory of his life, casting him into an abyss so deep it would take years to dig himself out.But dig deep he did. Now, more than seven and a half years sober, he is grateful for the life he has and for the family, both biological and chosen, who have loved and supported him. Today he has built a life he is proud of, one in which service to others is central. As you listen to this episode, consider:We all have times of struggle, when we need someone to listen. Who do you depend on? Taylor speaks about the importance of having someone to listen. Learning to listen means meeting people where they are, without judgement or expectation. How can you be truly present for someone who is struggling?Life is filled with challenges. Focusing on what we are grateful for helps keep us steady and puts life into context. Nottingham Forest strengthened their grip on a Champions League place when they beat rock bottom Southampton 3-2 in the Premier League on Sunday at the City Ground with goals from Elliot Anderson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn't change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.' That tweet has been viewed more than 46m times with the FA now hitting Forest with their second biggest fine ever as the club immediately said they will appeal. A chemical engineer turned community development organizer, Anthony Taylor shares the career journey that led him to founding Melanin in Motion, a Community Wellness Center program that connects children of color—and their families – with active pursuits like skiing, cycling, kayaking. Melanin in Motion was a Twin Cities Business 2024 Community Impact Award winner. “I noticed my white friends, when they think about preparing their kids for law school, they're putting them in the woods. That's the secret for making more lawyers,” Taylor says. “I want all communities to realize the benefits of municipal, state, federal investment in natural places that can show up in children being resilient, confident, and collaborative.” Taylor talks about how working for successful Minnesota wellness companies, Life Time and Aveda, helped him become a well rounded leader, and what he learned from his own startups, Spa One and Simply Organic Beauty, that led him to shift course and work for the Loppet Foundation and as president of equity outdoors for the YMCA of the North. “Melanin in Motion really is the culmination of that idea, where we see culture as an asset,” Taylor says. He also gives us a preview of his next venture: RiverNorth Development Partners, a social impact development group that is working to create a business district in North Minneapolis that prioritizes “equity driven employers” that agree to create skilled jobs for area residents who have been marginalized. Ion Aerospace is first to sign on, with plans to open on West Broadway in 2025. Following our conversation with Taylor, we go Back to the Classroom with the University of St. Thomas Schulze School of Entrepreneurship where associate professor Alex Johnson teaches entrepreneurship. He talks about the pros and cons of starting a venture on your own versus within a larger organization, and explains the difference between an inventor and an innovator. “Inventors create things. Innovators identify the problem, the value, and build a solution.”
