Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for July 21, 2024 is: visage VIZ-ij noun Visage is a formal word that refers to someone's face or facial expression, or to the general appearance of something. // Manny was surprised to see the smiling visage of his childhood friend, now running for the state senate, beaming down from a billboard. // Don't be intimidated by the rugged visage of the mountain; it's accessible to climbers of all skill levels. See the entry > Examples: “[Keri] Russell was 22 when she was cast in the title role of Felicity. At the beginning of the series, her character was 17 years old, but thanks to Russell's preternaturally youthful visage (and that glorious head of hair!), she pulled it off believably.” — Jessica Sager, Parade, 7 Jan. 2024 Did you know? In “Ozymandias,” Percy Bysshe Shelley's famous poem, a traveller tells of a colossal statue's “shattered visage” lying half sunk in desert sands, going on to describe its “frown / And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command…” Now, Shelley could have simply chosen face over the more highfalutin synonym visage, but not only would face shatter the sonnet's iambic pentameter, but a formal-sounding word is sometimes preferable to a basic one for all kinds of reasons, including sound, tone, or simply the cut of its jib. Physiognomy, for instance, refers to facial features thought to reveal qualities of temperament or character, as when Emily Brontë writes in Wuthering Heights, “I thought I could detect in his physiognomy a mind owning better qualities than his father ever possessed.” Countenance, meanwhile, is often used to refer to the face as an indication of mood or emotion, as in Bram Stoker's Dracula: “Mina struggled hard to keep her brave countenance.” As all of these quotes attest, when it comes to wordsmithery, sometimes you've just got to vamp.
Cub Kuker Supernatural Podcast EP445 Metatron & Enoch: A Comprehensive Exploration Metatron and Enoch are figures that span multiple religious traditions, particularly Judaism, Christianity, and Islamic mysticism. Their identities are often interwoven, with Metatron frequently being considered the heavenly version of Enoch. This article delves deeply into the scriptural, mystical, and historical contexts of these two enigmatic figures, examining their roles, significance, and the theological implications surrounding them. Enoch: The Human Precursor Enoch is a pre-flood patriarch mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. His most notable appearance is in the Book of Genesis: "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." (Genesis 5:24, NIV) This verse suggests an extraordinary relationship with God, implying that Enoch was taken to heaven without experiencing death. Enoch's brief mention in Genesis is expanded upon in other Jewish texts and traditions. Metatron: The Heavenly Transformation Metatron is a powerful and mysterious figure in Jewish mysticism, particularly in Kabbalistic tradition. He is often identified with the transformed Enoch, becoming an exalted angelic being after his earthly life. The earliest references to Metatron appear in the Talmud and later in the mystical text, the Sefer Hekhalot (Book of Palaces). In the Talmud, Metatron is depicted as a scribe and intermediary between God and humanity. One significant passage is found in the Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Sanhedrin 38b, where Metatron is described as the "Prince of the Countenance" and is granted authority over other angels. It's been said we will reflect what we've been placing our focus on. We can see this to be true on the faces of smiling babies that have had constant smiles being sent their way. They're reflecting what they're seeing, and it shows on their countenance. Next, look at those with disgruntled countenances. While that dissatisfied expression may not have come from constant angry looks sent to them, if fixation on everything going wrong has been priority, then that person has been staring into the face of the wrong thing. The countenance of people speaks. What does your countenance say about you? Have you been staring at the problems or the One with the solution to all problems?

Al-Insan ("Human") (alternative names: al-Dahr, "Endless time", Hal Ata, "Has There Not come") is the 76th chapter of the Quran, with 31 verses Recitation by Muhammad A hadith narrated by Abu Hurayra said that Muhammad used to recite Al-Insan together with As-Sajdah (chapter 32 of the Quran) for the early morning prayer (fajr) every Friday This report also appears in Tafsir Ibn Kathir The Noble Quran 1 Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 2 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer 3 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful 4 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire 5 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur 6 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly 7 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading 8. And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 9 (Saying): “We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you 10 “Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)” 11 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy 12 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient 13 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon) 14 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach 15 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 16 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes 17 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc), 18 A spring there, called Salsabil 19 And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls 20 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion 21 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink 22 (And it will be said to them): “Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted” 23 Verily! It is We Who have sent down the Qur'an to you (O Muhammad ) by stages 24 Therefore be patient (O Muhammad ) and submit to the Command of your Lord (Allah, by doing your duty to Him and by conveying His Message to mankind), and obey neither a sinner nor a disbeliever among them 25 And remember the Name of your Lord every morning and afternoon [i.e. offering of the Morning (Fajr), Zuhr, and ‘Asr prayers] 26 And during night, prostrate yourself to Him (i.e. the offering of Maghrib and ‘Isha' prayers), and glorify Him a long night through (i.e. Tahajjud prayer) 27 Verily! These (disbelievers) love the present life of this world, and put behind them a heavy Day (that will be hard) 28 It is We Who created them, and We have made them of strong built. And when We will, We can replace them with others like them with a complete replacement 29 Verily! This (Verses of the Qur'an) is an admonition, so whosoever wills, let him take a Path to his Lord (Allah) 30 But you cannot will, unless Allah wills. Verily, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise 31 He will admit to His Mercy whom He will and as for the Zalimun, (polytheists, wrong-doers, etc) He has prepared a painful torment
With today's episode, we will learn about the well-known House of Tzadok (the "Zadokites") from Hebrew Scripture. We will look at four specific aspects of their collective life as they wrote about it in the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will learn that The House of Tzadok was not associated with the so-called Community of the Essenes The House of Tzadok took Hebrew scripture at its face value and believed themselves to be the Elect or Chosen of Yehovah to teach and to judge all the families of Israel The House of Tzadok received divine revelation from the Angel of the Countenance ("Angel of the Face"); this is the One that Genesis 14:10 refers to as "Melchizedek"The House of Tzadok defined the lifeblood of their work within the context of priestly prophets and counterparts to the celestial works of Yehovah's angels in Heaven. He will change the times and laws and they shall fall into his hands until time, times and half a time"- Paraphrase of Daniel 7:25. The "king of fierce countenance" of Daniel 8:23 is revealed. He will rule from Mystery Babylon, his seat shall rise in the United States of America and in fact he rises from their midst. A man who understands dark sayings, of no mercy or kindness. An absolute dictator, a "king in a time of few king"s. Hear the words of the Lord: Barack Obama will rise again to power in America and this time nobody will remove him until he is struck down and removed by the Lord. See Daniel 8:23- 25.

You might notice in your Bible that Psalm 43 has no title over it. We believe that this is because Psalm 43 is a continuation of Psalm 42. Originally, they were one Psalm but the editors who compiled the Psalms, for whatever reason, divided them into two chapters. When you read them together it is obvious that they definitely go together with the same theme of the writer in exile longing to go back to worship in Jerusalem at the altar of God in the tabernacle. The writer is in a state of despair and you notice that he goes through three stages in finding relief and victory over his distress. He first expresses his thirst for God, for the living God, just like in a time of drought a deer would pant for water (Psalm 42:1-2). Next, he remembers that God is Jehovah and that no matter how dark it might seem, He will “command His lovingkindness in the daytime and give him a song in the night.” (Ps. 42:8). Now in Psalm 43, the writer knows that he can trust God to bring back his strength (Ps. 43:2), and the joy of worship (Ps. 43:4) even in this time of exile. My friend, you will never be disappointed when you decide to make the greatest desire and longing of your heart to be fellowship and worship with the LORD. Seeking the LORD with all your heart will take your mind off all the troubles and trials that surround you and release you to remember how great and awesome your God is. Then your faith will be renewed and strengthened, and you will put your trust in Him! In Psalm 43, the landscape changes a third time as the dawn announces the morning and reminds the psalmist of God's light and truth (v. 3). The Lord had led Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and so His light and truth (faithfulness) would bring him back to Jerusalem. The innocent exile would be vindicated before his accusers and be rescued from an ungodly nation. His strength was in the Lord alone, the Rock of his salvation (42:9), and soon his despair would be replaced by joy. As they trust in the Lord, God's people must remember that His goodness and mercy follow them (23:6), and His light and truth lead them (Ps. 43:3; see 27:1; 26:3; 30:9; 40:10). God's "holy hill" is Mt. Zion, where God's sanctuary was located, the dwelling place of God. But the writer wasn't exulting simply in freedom from his enemies and a return to his native home, but in the privilege of visiting God's altar, offering his sacrifices, and praising the Lord. He has made great progress since he watched the deer seeking for water. The "living God" (42:2) became "the God of my life" (42:8), and now He is "God my exceeding joy... God, my God” (43:4). His focus is no longer on himself, his disappointments, or his circumstances, but on the Lord his God, and that makes all the difference. The refrain in 43:5 must not be read with the same dejected voice as 42:5 and 11, for faith in Jehovah has changed everything. These two chapters end again with this repeated phrase but with a different emphasis. "Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance, and my God." The word "help" can be translated "health." When by faith we see the face of God smiling upon us (Num. 6:22-27), our own countenance brightens up and becomes spiritually healthy. We know God is for us, that God will set us free and guide us to His holy city, where we shall worship Him and sing His praises. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5). Our transformed, radiant countenance will reflect to the dark world around us the glorious presence of the Lord in our lives! God bless!
Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for January 13, 2023 is: countenance KOWN-tun-unss noun Countenance is a formal word that is most often used to refer to a person's facial expression, or to the face generally, especially as an indication of mood, emotion, or character. // Her cheerful countenance quickly put the lost visitors at ease. // I was struck by the professor's kind and curious bespectacled countenance. See the entry > Examples: “The film stars Emily Watson and Paul Mescal as mother Aileen and son Brian, whose isolated, tight-knit fishing village on the Irish coast is lovely and decrepit. ... Mescal's charming but cagey performance is as much a lure for the audience as for Aileen herself, and Watson is breathtaking to watch as the cycle of furies and fears and doubts warp her countenance.” — Lauren Puckett-Pope, ELLE, 30 Sept. 2022 Did you know? Let's face it: the countenance familiar to modern speakers does not bear an obvious resemblance to its Latin root continēre, meaning “to hold together” (a root it shares with contain). But the path between continēre and countenance becomes clearer when we think of the figurative “holding together” present in the idea of restraint. When countenance was first used in English (having traveled from Latin through Anglo-French) it referred to a person's appearance or behavior—their demeanor—which is a product of restraint, or the lack thereof. And from “demeanor” it was just a hop, skip, and a jump to “facial expression.” A few centuries after that development, in the late 16th century, countenance faced a new task head-on—use as a verb meaning “to extend approval or toleration to.”
