David was imprisoned for his part in an organised drug trafficking network. But that's not what defines him. His self-belief and determination took him from a prison cell to the head coach and manager of Livingston FC, a Scottish premiership football team. His story is testimony to the change in direction a person can take given an opportunity. His candidness and honesty is refreshing and to the point. He does not make excuses or blame anything or anyone for the mistakes he recognises were of his own doing. Yet, the reality for David and many others is how people can be influenced by the social environment and culture in which we start our life experiences. Links: Davie Martindale (@Daviemar13) / TwitterCoaching Staff - Livingston FCLinkedInhttps://livingstonfc.co.uk/Second Chance Podcast Links:WebsiteBuzzsproutApple PodcastAudibleFacebookDonation Support:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/secondchance1https://www.raphaelrowefoundation.org/get-involvedSupport the show

It's been one of the most incredible stories in Scottish Football this season, the rise to prominence of Livingston Football Club – and at the heart of it all has been one man, David Martindale. Davie's story is very well documented which you can find almost everywhere, so we won't get into that here. In this extended interview with David Martindale, you'll get an opportunity to find out a bit more than what you will have read in the headlines. By all accounts, Davie is an incredibly open and honest man – which isn't easy to come across in football. But beyond that, there's a clearly determined and focussed football manager who now has a great shot at success with a club that he owes a lot to. The Pints and Penalties Scottish Football Podcast

Rory, Cameron and Harry get together (virtually) to discuss the weekend's League Cup semi-finals. Firstly they look at St Johnstone 3-0 Hibs and how St Johnstone managed to weather the early Hibs storm to runaway comfortable winners. Also, the boys discuss what this result means for Jack Ross going forward. They then look at Livingston's 1-0 win over St Mirren and discuss how their run under David Martindale is still rolling on. When looking at St Mirren the guys discuss how their previous cup results make this performance an even bigger disappointment. To finish the pod, seeing as it is Royal Rumble season, the guys pick some Rumble accolades and which figures from Scottish football would pick them up. Find us on Twitter @pintsandpens

Jack Donnelly is joined by Struan Garvie, Jamie Mcintosh and Graeme Sinclair for another look at the biggest talking points from the weekend in football, analysing and discussing the most important stories from Scotland, England and the wider world of football. In this week's Big Question, the team takes inspiration from the announcement that many teams around the world would be partnering with Fortnite and discuss which other football/video game crossovers they'd most like to see - there's shouts for Mario Kart, Overwatch and Street Fighter bringing footballers into their rosters. The usual running order was shaken up on this episode, as the breaking news of Frank Lampard's dismissal from Chelsea was the initial focus of the show. The boys discuss why things went wrong for Lampard, whether or not he deserved more time and what the club legend could go on to do now. In Chewin' the Football, the boys dissect both Betfred Cup finals, chatting about Jack Ross' pressure-laden job, the good-feeling story that David Martindale has created at Livingston and who we believe will go on to lift the trophy at the end of February. They also mention Rangers' 5-0 win over Ross County and Raith Rovers upping the ante in the Championship title race. In a hopeful attempt to ensure this episode didn't reach 70 minutes, the panel mashed English Entertainment together with Last Ditch Challenge, referencing Manchester United's win over Liverpool in the FA Cup, Scott Wright's pre-contract agreement with Rangers and Arsenal finding a Mesut Özil replacement - after not playing the German for months.

In this weeks show we talk at good length about Neil Lennon's rant to the media where he spoke about pretty much every topic there has ever been but any listener was still left wanting more. More answers, more laughs, more patter and more clarification on pretty much everything he spoke about. We also go through the retaliation statement made by St. Johnstone, Kilmarnock's loan appeal and Ross County pumping Aberdeen. David Martindale has found himself in the lime light once again, are the SFA being too harsh on a reformed character? finally, should VAR be in the Scottish game? Hammy has a belter in quarantine questions as well btw.
