It's hoped the current 27 week average waiting time for a driving test in Clare will soon be significantly slashed. The Road Safety Authority has published a national action plan to reduce waiting lists that will see driving tests conducted in evenings, on weekends and even bank holidays. New centres will also be opened in Dublin, Kildare and Louth to ease the backlog, with the RSA setting the goal that no motorist will wait longer than 10 weeks for a test after September this year. Chris Curran from the Chris Curran Driving School in Ennis believes it could work.

What's my definition of fear?  False Evidence Appearing Real.  -Anna Sabatino aka “Anna Sab” Meet Anna Sabatino, wife, mother, life coach, driving instructor, entrepreneur, and all-around super-woman. It was Anna's husband who nominated her as a guest on the show and she did not disappoint!  In this interview, we learn all about the long and winding road of life. For Anna, the twists and turns are there to help us find our purpose. The daughter of Italian immigrants, Anna grew up in a strict but faith-filled, loving home in Brighton, Massachusetts.  At only 20, she began working on the administrative side of a hugely successful sporting goods agency that represented New Balance Athletic shoes.  Thirty years later, her boss retired and closed the business, leaving Anna at a crossroads, so she put on her running shoes and started training for the New York and Boston marathons.  She also signed up for an Empowerment Workshop that ignited a new passion:  helping teenagers find their way.  Armed with her certification as an Empowerment Life Coach, she launched a coaching practice aimed at teens…and sadly, no one came.   Frustrated and feeling a little bit lost, she went for a run…and ran into an old friend who said:  “Get certified as a driving instructor.  Most of your clients will be teenagers anyway.”   Today, Anna is the owner of her own driving school, www.csdriving.com, and the CS stands for common sense. On Monday's show, we spoke about the Road Safety Authority's decision to increase the price of a driving licence, the learner permit, and the NCT. The price of a driver licence and learner permit are set to increase by 10 euro, rising to 65 and 45 euro. Meanwhile, the cost of an NCT will increase by 5 euro, to 60 euro, while a re-test will rise by 12 euro, to 40 euro. These increases will take effect from the 1st of January. Up until recently not every woman even had the right to drive - that only changed in 2018 when Saudi Arabia lifted their ban on female drivers. Datshiane Navanayagam speaks to two instructors to find out what it takes to teach this skill. Aman Sanghera, a London-based driving instructor, turned to social media during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep teaching and share practical driving tips on her YouTube channel, Clearview Driving. Her videos quickly went viral, amassing nearly a billion views. Haru Hasegawa was a secondary school teacher in the Philippines but, since moving to Japan, now helps foreigners navigate the challenges of learning to drive in Tokyo at EDS Driving School. Australian government statistics show that only 22% of females share the driving instructor workforce across Australia. Melbourne's Sakuntala Rijal Sapkota is one of them. She is a full-time driving instructor, a profession she had not anticipated being part of.
