The league is ours, and the players deserve it for their sheer bloody-mindedness: what a feeling! "Big Virg", our Captain Colossus, made up for the mix-up leading to Andy Robbo's unfortunate own goal by nodding in the winner "at the death" of the match, sending LFC fans everywhere into raptures, and a lemon flying across my kitchen. We discuss:⚽️Mo Salah, THE EGYPTIAN KING's contract, and that sublime assist

Finding the original tomb of the royal is one of the most significant developments in Egyptian archeology in recent history. Also, a video of a gloriously creepy anglerfish inspired tears and poetry online. But why was this deep-sea dweller near the surface at all?Royal Tomb Of Egyptian King Thutmose II UnearthedA British-Egyptian team has made one of the most significant Egyptian archeological finds in recent history: the tomb of pharaoh King Thutmose II, who ruled sometime between 2000 and 1001 BCE. This is the first tomb of a pharaoh unearthed since Tutankhamun's in 1922.Thutmose II's mummified remains were found two centuries ago, but they had been moved from his original tomb, the location of which remained a mystery until now. Part of the reason why his tomb's location was such a mystery was that Thutmose II was buried in an area associated with the wives of Egyptian kings, about 1.5 miles west of Egypt's famous Valley of the Kings.Joining Host Flora Lichtman to talk about this and other science stories of the week is Maggie Koerth, science writer and editorial lead of CarbonPlan, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Why The Internet Was Captivated By A Hideous FishLast week, a viral video likely floated to the top of your feed: a rare black seadevil anglerfish, which looks like a floating head with a frightening amount of teeth and two cloudy eyes, swimming in azure waters. The fish showed up near Spain's Canary Islands, off the northwestern coast of Africa. It made the news because it was spotted near the surface, while anglerfish normally reside in the deep ocean. So why was she paddling so close to the surface? Was she sick? How unusual is this? And also, why do they even look like that? We had questions.Host Flora Lichtman talks with Dr. Kory Evans, assistant professor of biosciences at Rice University, to separate fact from fish-ction. He also explains new research he helped conduct about the evolutionary history of anglerfish, which could help explain why they look the way they do.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. This may not be the first time you heard this, and it probably won't be the last: the Assistant Manager chip has to go. Adding a manager adds another dimension to the game, overcomplicating it and distancing it from the beautifully simple yet also endlessly stimulating concept of picking the PLAYERS you think will get the most points. What do you mean, DAVID MOYES has scored the same amount of points as MO SALAH in their last four games? But alas, we are stuck with the chip this season at least, and therefore we must try to optimize our strategy given the conditions under which we've been placed. So, for those with Slot and Emery—stick or twist? If twisting, play it safe with Arteta or chase the table bonus with Glasner or McKenna? Perhaps I must begrudgingly admit that certain elements of the chip are rather well designed. But before we get to that, in our Gameweek 25 review, we laugh at Spurs and Man United and admire the new Egyptian Prince in town, though the reigning Egyptian King won't be superseded anytime soon. As for captaincy—does Salah's difficult fixture against City (though maybe we really need to stop thinking of City as all that difficult) open the door for another option? Dare I say, one that costs £4.6 million?Follow us on Twitter: @FplFortress
On the Gameweek 25 Review Podcast Suj and James discuss all the key FPL relevant info from the weekend which featured disappointment for many owning Aston Villa assets as they were held by ten man Ipswich, Manchester City's demolition of Newcastle featured a hat-trick from Omar Marmoush and Arsenal found someone who could play up front in an unlikely source as sub Mikel Merino. There's also reaction to Tottenham's victory against Manchester United in the battle of the underachievers, there was another limp display from Chelsea at Brighton which included a stunning goal for the hosts by Kaoru Mitoma, and Wolves made Liverpool sweat at Anfield. Plus, there's discussion on solutions next for those on the Assistant Manager Chip and some of the consequences from the announcement of Newcastle and Crystal Palace being arranged for Gameweek 32, James contemplates switching Salah to Haaland in GW29, but will the Egyptian King still get the armband when the two clubs meet in GW26? Chaos reigned in Matchweek 17 as Liverpool scorched Spurs 6-3, claiming Christmas atop the Premier League. Aston Villa deepened Man City's spiral with a ruthless 2-1 victory, leaving Guardiola's fallen giants flailing in seventh. Nottingham Forest stunned Brentford, smashing their fortress to seize a Champions League spot, while Wolves clawed past Leicester in Pereira's debut. Rising phenom Jhon Duran lit up the weekend, capping a round brimming with shockwaves, sizzling goals, and festive fireworks.
Clayton joins James for a review of GW14 in a week where Arsenal won from corners and Tottenham lost from one, but that's not the only reason Tottenham lost, and James is in a mood this morning following the dismal showing at Bournemouth. He did at least have some reason to cheer via FPL means as Alexander Isak was held and returned well in Newcastle's thrilling draw against Liverpool, but Mo Salah dominated again with another monster haul. The Egyptian King is now up to a barely believable 151 FPL Points for the season. Clayton's gameweek meanwhile was somewhat saved by an Arsenal player and The Gunners ran out winners against a Manchester United team, who impressed with their structure, if not their threat. All the games from Wednesday to Thursday covered, including Chelsea's demolition of Southampton, Aston Villa and Manchester City getting back to winning ways; whilst there's debate on FPL transfers as James seeks a new defender, there's a solution offered for Bryan Mbeumo owners, if those who have prersisted with Erling Haaland have to call it quits and is there enough reason to take Salah on with the captaincy this week? ...Tottenham might have offered one... but not for the right reasons. Clayton and James discuss Liverpool's key three out of contract players, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah and speculate on what is actually going on with all three currently able to speak to other clubs if no contract is agreed before January 1st. Can it really be that Liverpool haven't offered Salah an extension or dis the Egyptian King make a tactical play when speaking to journalists after Sunday's victory at Southampton? Could Liverpool even put Salah or Alexander-Arnold on the market in January? And ultimately is it thought that the three players would stay? Plus, notes on Liverpool's victory against Real Madrid - who are heavily linked with a move for Alexander-Arnold - in the Champions League last night and a round-up of out of contract players at other Premier League clubs. Suj and James review the second weekend of GW21 as Arsenal and Liverpool both won handsomely, Ivan Toney returned and scored, there was controversy at Bramall Lane as The Blades drew 2-2 with West Ham and Brighton v Wolves ended goalless last night. Known as Ramses the Great, Ramses II was one of the most powerful and influential Pharaohs to have ruled Egypt in its Golden Age. Ramses also built more monuments and sired more children than any other Egyptian King. As a result, his 66-year reign is considered to be the height of Egypt's glory.Academy Travel is a leading specialist in small-group cultural tours, allowing you to travel with like-minded companions and learn from internationally renowned experts. With Haaland somewhat underwhelming and Mo Salah scoring yet another brace, is the FPL tide turning from the Norwegian back to the Egyptian King - particularly for captaincy? We analyse all the weekend's action, albeit with Spurs v Fulham still to come on Monday night - and with yet another decent haul for Trippier, we discuss wether we should go there, even with a tough looking fixture list for Newcastle. Arsenal and Chelsea play out a 2-2 draw and United sneak past Sheffield United thanks to a worldie from their full-back - in a week where the football world pays tribute to one of the genuine all-time greats.
