Well if you like to hear us disagree you are going to love this episode again. We took disagreeing to a whole other level. The Brothers were heated. We open discussing the Fox News/Dominion settlement and firing of Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon. Biden is officially running for reelection and we are underwhelmed. Razi gives us a news rundown and we discuss attack of the yams and he sneaks a question in. John Laguezamo is boycotting Super Mario Bros and Razi wants to know should there be "representation" in the movie at all? Then he gets his official question and asks for the brothers reactions to the viral video of a teacher fighting a student after she tried to take her phone back from the teacher. That leads to a discussion of whether training can affect peoples feelings and responses. Buff gets next question and asks do black people buy into negative stereotypes of ourselves and why. We close congratulating Snowfall's finale and reminding everyone about Mothers Day is coming up soon. Finally, Ferg wants everyone to stop looking for black on black crime responses because we don't call it that; so you can't google it. Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/threebrothersnosense/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/threebrothersnosense/support

The state of Fox News today is thanks to Rupert Murdoch. A look inside the Murdoch media empire shows how media outlets can turn into right-wing political influence machines. Famed Fox News host Tucker Carlson got fired. The story is still unfolding, but initial reports claim that the decision came straight from media tycoon Rupert Murdoch after vulgar language and messages were attributed to Carlson. In a recent episode, our colleagues at On The Media took a moment to consider Murdoch's history and his impact on our present culture. On The Media host, Brooke Gladstone speaks with Jim Rutenberg, writer-at-large for the New York Times and its Sunday magazine, about the Fox News Dominion lawsuit settlement and what's next for the company. It's now official - Fox News lies, but that's just a cost of doing business as the media giant buys its way out of getting caught … while failing to share the news with the millions the company has willingly deceived. Also this week: there's a nationwide contrast on two hot-button issues: gun safety and reproductive healthcare rights look to be the pivotal issues in 2024, and Republicans are on the wrong side of both. The turmoil in the Michigan Republican Party continues and now even features actual physical fighting as a war breaks out between two leaders of the whack-job core of the party. And speaking of delusional – we have a quick update on the Quixotic presidential campaign of onetime failed Michigan gubernatorial candidate Perry Johnson. Returning to the podcast this week is John Della Volpe who has spent 20 years surveying millennials and Gen Z and advised President JOE BIDEN's 2020 campaign on its outreach to younger voters. John is the director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, and the author of Fight: How Gen Z is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America. The Washington Post referred to John as one of the world's leading authorities on global sentiment, opinion, and influence, especially among young Americans and in the age of digital and social media. =========================== This week's podcast is underwritten in part by EPIC-MRAEPIC ▪ MRA is a full service survey research firm with expertise in: • Public Opinion Surveys • Market Research Studies • Live Telephone Surveys • On-Line and Automated Surveys • Focus Group Research • Bond Proposals - Millage Campaigns • Political Campaigns & Consulting • Ballot Proposals - Issue Advocacy Research • Community - Media Relations • Issue - Image Management • Database Development & List Management =========================== Stories We're Following This Week Fox "News" Lawsuit Fox News reaches $787.5 million settlement in Dominion's defamation lawsuit - POLITICO Five takeaways from the Fox News-Dominion settlement | The Hill 'Difficult to say with a straight face': Tapper reacts to Fox News' statement on settlement | CNN Politics Gun safety vs. the NRA Michigan lawmakers send 'red flag' law gun bill to Whitmer GOP presidential hopefuls make pitches at Indianapolis NRA convention - Indianapolis Star NRA convention draws top GOP 2024 hopefuls after shootings - AP News Trump and Pence compete for ovations at the NRA after a rash of mass shootings - POLITICO Pro-gun groups sue to stop Michigan's new gun safety laws - Detroit Free Press Oxford woman, whose son survived shooting, takes on Rep. David French returns to "The Interview" for a wide-ranging discussion with Mediaite editor in chief Aidan McLaughlin. French, who now writes an opinion column for The New York Times, discusses the serious legal peril facing Donald Trump, the dangers of the former president's movement, the 2024 presidential race, the Fox News-Dominion trial, a new controversy involving Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, the claims that his billionaire friend is a Nazi sympathizer, the scourge of mass shootings in America, a horrific shooting in French's own backyard, and the push for gun control. This episode is hosted by Aidan McLaughlin with production assistance from Alyona Uvarova.
Bryan is joined by NPR's David Folkenflik to discuss NPR's decision to quit Twitter (1:30) before he then provides an expert briefing on the Fox News defamation lawsuit (6:19). They begin by breaking down what happened back in 2020 that led Fox into court, dive into the details of the case provided in emails and texts from Fox reporters, executives, and Rupert Murdoch himself, and then discuss the cost of the lawsuit for Fox and, potentially, the work of journalists. Joe Biden made a "secret" trip to Ukraine in the past week to pledge millions of dollars more in aide to Zelensky. Which would be noble...if there was any attempt by the west to make piece with Russia. Meanwhile...East Palestine, Ohio cant get a dime to clean up the vinyl chloride train disaster. It's not partisan...it's just f**king wrong. The mainstream media is beginning to admit what many "conspiracy theorists" knew about 2 years ago. Contracting Covid is just as effective (if not more) at providing immunity than the mRNA vaccine. Who knew (other than anyone with a high school biology understanding of virology)? Dominion's lawsuits against Fox News are ongoing. Right wing news pushed Donald Trump's ridiculous idea that Dominion voting machines were tampered with to provide Joe Biden with the victory in the 2020 election Tucker Carlson knew it. Sean Hannity knew it. It was all bulls**t and they ran with it anyway. Cable news is trash regardless of political lean. MORE...IF YOU LIKE!! What's one way to stop misinformation? It might just be a giant defamation lawsuit. This week, media titan Rupert Murdoch was deposed in a $1.6 billion suit brought by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News and Fox Corporation. They allege Fox knowingly and maliciously aired baseless claims accusing Dominion of an election fraud conspiracy. Somewhat surprisingly, instead of settling out of court, Fox News is denying the allegations, and the case is scheduled to go to trial in April. To unpack the lawsuit and the revelations it has brought (and will continue to bring) to light, we turned to New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters, who says this could be “one of the most consequential First Amendment cases in a generation.” He breaks down the case, the souring Murdoch-Trump alliance and Fox News's future. Plus, we review Ron DeSantis's chances in 2024 (outlook: not good) and Ben Shapiro and Elon Musk's chances of one day besting Murdoch (outlook: somewhat better).
