SEASON 3 EPISODE 119: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Senator Lisa Murkowski may be the most important person in the country right now. Her public confession that she too is afraid of the Trump nightmare and her HINTS at talking to Senate colleagues ABOUT her fear – could provide just enough Republican rebellion to rein Trump in. It feels as if she just got it, as if she just understood that yes Trump is Nazi-esque and yes Trump often emulates the Soviets but the closest parallel to him is O'Brien and "The Party" in Orwell's "1984" and the simple terrifying conviction that "the object of power is power." That's why I think when Kristi Garden Noem and Secretary of Defense (and Vodka) Hegseth (if he's still on the job after ANOTHER Signal chat came to light) file their report on the border to Trump this week and tell him no, they don't need to invoke The Insurrection Act, he may do it anyway because... the object of power is power. Murkowski and thirteen other Republican Senators and at most four Republican Representatives can stop this. They can save the country. They can impeach Trump or if they still can’t get over the hump, the 18 of you can use the THREAT to impeach him, to virtually fetter him, to at least control the width and breadth of his damage, to make him know the Senate WILL vote against him. She can also talk to anybody on the Supreme Court except Alito or Thomas. The other seven, in the middle of the damn night - at 1 AM Saturday - stepped in to freeze any further disappearing Americans under the phony premise of The Alien Enemies Act. And there is reason to hope that these Murkowski-led conversations might happen before the iron curtain of dictatorship descends: Later in her confession of fear, she hinted at doing exactly what I just suggested. Meanwhile, how many times can you self-destruct on this? Gavin Newsom dismisses the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case as a "distraction" and calls Democrats sheep for defending the constitution. On the other hand, Senator Ed Markey is crafting a sense of the senate resolution stating Trump cannot again be elected, and cannot again serve, as president or vice president. Damn Straight. B-Block (40:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The Musk Crappertruck Owner who claims to also be a "girl dad"; Pennsylvania congressman Dan Meuser kinda blames Governor Josh Shapiro's criticizing Trump for provoking the attempt to incinerate him and his family in the governor's mansion on Passover. And Trump DEI hire Pam Bondi lies that compulsive martyr and 85th Place Olympic Trials finisher Riley Gaines "went to the Olympics." Not unless she bought a ticket, Pam Blondie. C-Block (55:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The renewed Trump bid to ban the Associated Press got me talking to a friend: How MANY times have I been banned, as a reporter? Do you mean this century, or in total? It's... a lot. From the LA Clippers to the ESPN Campus, I've been banned... a lot. And je ne regret rien!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Trump vowed to place onerous sanctions on Russian oil if progress isn't being made soon. 5:20pm- White Lotus Season 3 aired its second to last episode last night…is it time to declare this season is a bust? Matt says he's holding out hope it'll have a great finale. But why is anyone taking television advice from him? Plus, Americans are staying away from movie theaters—is it because of increased competition from streaming platforms or is Hollywood simply creating a subpar product? 5:40pm- According to the transcript of Donald Trump's phone conversation with NBC News, the president said of foreign auto manufacturers having to raise their prices as a result of his tariffs: “I couldn't care less.” He explained: “I hope they raise their prices, because if they do, people are gonna buy American-made cars. We have plenty.” 6:00pm- From the Oval Office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order preventing “exploitive ticket scalping” as Kid Rock stood next to him. While answering questions from the press, Trump said has been allowing White House staff to use the Tesla he bought earlier this month. He was also asked about a potential third term—and whether he could win a hypothetical election against Barack Obama. Trump said he would love to run against Obama but seemed to dismiss the idea of challenging the 22nd Amendment. He also revealed that he ...

This new administration has made a lot of promises to fix the disaster of the last four years, and they are delivering on those promises. We feel hope and optimism and growing momentum.BUT ... to get to this moment, it took some very courageous people that were willing to sacrifice everything to stand up and speak out when it wasn't popular, when they would face the angry woke mob and cancel culture, when they would face ridicule from leftists on social media, AND they did it anyway because it was simply the right thing to do!Today's guest is a true warrior for faith, truth, and common sense!Meet Riley Gaines.Riley was a 12x All-American swimmer at the University of Kentucky. She burst onto the international stage when she competed and tied with trans-identifying swimmer Lia Thomas at their NCAA championships. Since then God has given her a mission to give everything she has to protect girls and women from unfair and unsafe competition. Her mission is to build a movement to save women's sports and see a return to common-sense American Values. She is an ambassador for multiple organizations such as ICONS Women, The Independent Council for Women's Sports, Turning Point USA and others. As a Christian and a proud American Patriot who loves this country, our founding principles, and our attainable promise, I believe we are standing at a very unique moment in history. Americans have overwhelmingly rejected the progressive, woke, Marxist ideologies and have voted for a resurgence of common sense, timeless values and faith, and the restoration of our culture. In fact, in many ways the American way, our culture, our values and even the American dream needs to be rescued from radical ideologies that teach our kids to be confused about their gender, groom them for life-altering medical treatments and medications, is incapable of defining what a Woman is, and allow men to invade once safe spaces for women and girls – like bathrooms and locker rooms. AND that allows men to dominate women in sports!Meet Riley Gaines.Riley was a 12x All-American swimmer at the University of Kentucky. She has sued the NCAA, hosts her own podcast called “Gaines for Girls” on Outkick, and has started the Riley Gaines Center with the Leadership Institute. You've likely seen her on multiple podcast, TV Networks, on college campuses, and at rallies around the country!

Original Air Date - 9/21/23 Paula Scanlan, former University of Pennsylvania swimmer and team member with transgender athlete Lia Thomas, sits down with Bridget to discuss her experience on the team, her decision to speak up about the controversial issue, and ultimately testifying before Congress. She and Bridget talk about how the university tried to silence the athletes, being unable to express discomfort or feelings of unfairness, being told that they are the ones with the problem, waiting for the adults in the room to step in, and making the difficult decision to speak up even when she knew the backlash she'd face would be brutal. They cover the pressure of group think, why all of this coming on the heels of Covid made it so much worse, teaching young women not to trust themselves, why this issue should not be a political one, the worry of being fired for her viewpoints, hearing from a lot of young women who are scared, how Paula's sexual assault red pilled her, and her work to enact policy change with the Independent Women's Forum. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Walk-Ins Welcome with Bridget Phetasy - Podcast Bridget Phetasy admires grit and authenticity. Riley has made waves for speaking out after tying UPenn's Lia Thomas, a biological male swimmer on the women's team, at the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. After Riley directly experienced competing against a man in women's sports, being forced without warning or consent to undress before the fully intact male, and subjected to discrimination by the NCAA, she became one of the most powerful voices to speak out against the injustice, challenging the rules of the NCAA, USA Swimming, International Olympic Committee (IOC), and other governing bodies. Riley now works for the leading women's organization making real and lasting change, legally defining ‘woman,' protecting Title IX, and defending women's rights to single-sex spaces and equal opportunities. From the Ingles Studio this is your news minute on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Today is Wednesday, October 9th, and I'm Keith Ippolito. Board of Regents seeking to ban transgender women from college sports The University System of Georgia Board of Regents has voted to urge collegiate sports organizations to ban transgender women from participating in women's sports. This decision follows a similar move by the Georgia High School Association, which requires students to compete based on their birth gender. The issue gained attention during the 2022 NCAA Swimming Championships when Lia Thomas, a transgender athlete, won the 500-meter freestyle. Critics argue that transgender women have an unfair advantage and express discomfort with shared locker rooms. The Board's resolution aligns with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' policy, which already bans transgender women from women's sports. Lt. Gov. Burt Jones plans to introduce legislation in 2025 to ban transgender women from sports at Georgia's public colleges. Opponents of such bans argue they discriminate against transgender students, who already face high rates of prejudice and mental health challenges. Joe Biden's new Title IX rules will let men compete against women, change clothes with women, shower with women, and more — and if anyone complains, they're the ones who will face punishment. Paula Scanlan, a former UPenn swimmer who was forced to have "Lia" Thomas as a teammate, describes the horrifying experience of living through the "abolition of women." Plus, Twitter's "Bronze Age Shawty" joins to discuss her Elon Musk-funded lawsuit against Jack Dorsey and the importance of online free speech to modern youth politics.
