Paul recounts that when he made his second visit to Jerusalem, he presented the gospel he was preaching to Peter, James and John. In response, they affirmed both his apostleship and his message. But when some “false brothers” tried to get him to compromise, he did not budge for a moment. This story teaches us that the truth of the gospel is a prerequisite to unity, brings freedom, fuels our mission, and creates compassion. Text: Galatians 2:1-10

Dante's independent debut Son of a Father (2017), rose to No. 21 on the Billboard Charts establishing a sound that was uniquely Dante - an infectious mix of soul, gospel, and R&B. In 2018, after spending time on the road as a backing vocalist, Dante left the security of steady employment to take center stage--His star was on the rise. He was a co-writer on the platinum-selling track “In Spite of Me [feat. Ciara]” for Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and Maverick City Music's biggest hit to date, “Promises." With his familial roots in his heart, and an optimistic future in his sights, Dante released his sophomore album and Bethel Music label debut circles earlier last year. circles debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart, and the chart-topping GRAMMY Nominated single, ‘joyful,' debuted No. 1 on the Billboard's Gospel Chart, and No. 3 on Hot Gospel Songs. Bowe is set to embark on his first Spring 2022 tour, ‘What Are We Waiting For? – The Tour," as a solo artist with four-time Grammy award winners & Pop Sensations, For King + Country. The word “sing” appears in the Bible over 400 times, and at least 50 of those are commands for followers of Jesus to sing. In Colossians 3:16, believers are commanded to, “sing to God with gratitude from the heart” and to sing to each other, teaching and admonishing through “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs”. It's clear from the Bible that God desires for His people to sing- both to Him and to each other. But what happens when that experience of connecting with God and other believers through music gets commodified and turned into a product to be bought and sold? Total sales from the Christian music industry are more than a half billion US dollars annually. Christian/Gospel music is considered one of the fastest growing areas in recorded music history, with more than 1,400 radio stations and 80 million listeners. Even mainstream brands such as Pepsi MidAmerica, Cracker Barrel, Allstate, NASCAR and McDonald's, among others, have aligned with Gospel/Christian artists, releases and festivals and events to promote their brands. It's clear that there's money to be made in Christian music and entertainment. But at what cost to the Christian message? And what about the artists, producers, and writers that help create that music? Are they all, truly “Christian”- or are they simply pandering to a carefully selected demographic through setting clean, positive, nonspecific, and formulaic jargon to modern music? Is the music promoting an authentic lifestyle of radical surrender to Christ as King, or is it simply giving us a soundtrack to a life of safe, comfortable, consumerism with a little Jesus sprinkled on top?

Romans 1:14 — Who is the Gospel for? Does the Christian Gospel seem more palatable for a suburban context? It might seem that a learned man like the apostle Paul would feel more comfortable preaching to philosophers, Stoics, and Epicureans rather than the common men and women of the city. As Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones demonstrates in his message on Romans 1:14, this could not be further from the truth. Show Paul a soul – whether that soul be wise/unwise, Greek/Barbarian, rich/poor, slave/free – and he will preach the Gospel to them with great profundity and fullness. In this challenging message, Dr. Lloyd-Jones holds up Paul as an example of what it means to be a Gospel Christian. We cannot forget, like Paul, that we are under obligation to all mankind. There is a universal need of all nations and all types of people to hear the Gospel. Dr. Lloyd-Jones provocatively says, if preachers today cannot preach to everybody, they should not preach to anybody. Gospel preachers must develop an ability to preach to a range of people. Otherwise we will give the impression that the Gospel is only for a certain type of person. Humbly listen as Dr. Lloyd-Jones dispels false ministry methods and calls Christians to once again impart the whole counsel of God to the whole world.

YOU ARE LISTENING TO EPISODE 394 WITH GOSPEL RECORDING ARTIST LADY RENEE & JERRY ROYCE LIVE“The voice of an angel!” Is the term widely used to describe the voice of Lady Renee’.
