1. Elon takes a 9% stake in Twitter (TWTR). This news is giving the stocks a 20% pop this morning. It's also helping a lot of the social media names that seem to be trading in sympathy to the stock. Revenge of the Babylon Bee. 2. Tech stocks are rallying higher this morning. There is some weakness in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DIA), but it is not really much. The S&P 500 Index (SPY is trading higher by 0.20%).3. Last Friday, the transport index (IYT) tanked lower by nearly 5.0%. They are actually lower again this morning. Railroad stocks and trucking led the decline. When the transports fall from the sky it should make everyone a little cautious.4. Interest rates going higher and mortgage rate is over 5%. 5. Gold has been trading sideways for the past few weeks in a range. As I have said before, unless there is some type of resolution in Ukraine I have a difficult time seeing gold falling. If there is a peace deal the precious metal should pull back sharply. 6. Bitcoin is holding up well trading around the 46,000 level. On Friday, it finished slightly above its 200-day moving average, so that was a positive. The negative is that it is going onto a ton of daily chart resistance from the month of December 2021.

1. The Stock markets are mixed again. This morning, the tech heavy NASDAQ and NAS-100 are the big winners reading up 0.70%. The losers are coming from transports $IYT, energy $XLE and financials $XLF. This is what I call a hot potato market. Money flees one sector and goes into another. This seems to be what is taking place and is continuing today. We're seeing travel and leisure get slammed today. 2. Bitcoin and the other crypto currencies are catching a bid today. The pattern is still weak, but it is holding up at the moment as it is sitting right on the 200-day moving average. In other words, it lives to fight another day. 3. Gold/Silver flat day for gold. Not a great pattern for gold. But it held its June 18 low, could be setting up for a move to the upside. Need a price over 1827 on a weekly close. Silver is flat. $26.20. Similar pattern setups
In the decade-plus since the post-global financial crisis bull market rally began, the DJIA has been crushed by top U.S. index benchmark peers the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100. The fact the Dow is "price weighted" has meant high-flying growth stocks have been left out of the index relative to value-oriented names in underperforming sectors like healthcare and financials. In today's episode of Let's Talk ETFs, WingCapital Investments' Vincent Yip and Seeking Alpha's Jonathan Liss discuss recent Dow outperformance - and why DIA's "weaknesses" have been transformed into strengths as investors rotate away from tech and growth. Show Notes 5:00 - Revisiting Vincent's Vietnam thesis (VNM) (IEMG)? 9:15 - The Dow Jones Industrial Index: One of the best known, oldest and strangest indexes for U.S. investors (DIA) 11:00 - Is the Dow still relevant for modern investors? 16:30 - How bad has the underperformance of the Dow been relative to the S&P 500 (SPY) and Nasdaq 100 (QQQ)? 20:00 - Why does the Dow Jones Transportation Index's (IYT) breakout bode well for DIA's performance? 23:30 - How does the sector composition of DIA set it up for success in this environment? 27:00 - What are other ways you recommend playing this trend? 1. Yesterday was another wild day on Wall Street. First we had an early sell-off followed by a bounce for most of the afternoon. Tech seems to be the weak link right now. Small caps (IWM), energy (XLE), transports (IYT) and financials (XLF) are where the strength is currently. Great run in oil. Probably set off by the Keystone Pipeline decision. Crude is up to nearly $63 per bbl. Look at the prices at the pump. It’s all part of the reopening play. Interest rate rises and commodity inflation could put a damper on the reopening boost. The markets want easy money. The money printers always win, for a while. The market will eventually say, enough is enough. Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell testified on Capitol Hill yesterday and basically said he won't stop printing money until the country gets back to full employment. Basically, he said they are just going to keep the printing presses on high for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, bond yields are starting to rise sharply higher and this will become a problem for the central bank soon. Why are yields going up right now despite the fed funds rate remaining at zero? Houston, we have a problem. Chairman Powell will hold his second day of testimony this morning in front of the House Financial Services Committee. 2. Gold/Silver/Cryptos Cryptos weren’t of much use last week in Texas. Imagine if the Internet went down. Countries can ban it. Treat it as an asset class. Wait for the globalist outrage over excess electric usage. Parabolic moves always end the same way. Gold and silver backing and filling. Silver is gaining and gold is losing. Very strange. RSI in silver has been there for a while. Well above all its moving averages. Gold is below all its key moving averages. Stay tuned. Commodity super-cycle just getting started? Look at the base metals and decide. Watch the price of a Thanksgiving Day meal this year.
