How do you tie together the stories of ancient Egypt, Robin Hood, Freddy Kreuger, and Hamlet – on a single stage? Well, through time travel, of course. But also with the minds and talent of a group of actors at Sing Sing correctional facility in New York. Such a play – titled "Breakin' the Mummy's Code" – was made possible through a program called RTA: Rehabilitation Through the Arts. It was born in 1996 after a group of incarcerated men at Sing Sing put on a few theater productions. They decided they wanted those productions to be something more – an organized group that could bring the power of theater to people inside prisons. The program's story is now on the big screen in the film "Sing Sing." Mikey & Jeremy watch Friday the 13th Part 3 3D. They discuss pitchforks, giant slingshots, and shower beers.
I remember as a kid when Freddy Kreuger captured my mind. I was terrified yet fascinated. As time went on, my brothers and our neighborhood gang would fantisize about who would win a battle, Freddy or Jason (from Friday the 13th). A couple of decades later, they came out with the movie. In today's episode, I give you my top horror movies, top horror characters and some Mind Mapping of how and why Halloween became a staple in my house. *If you are looking to change your body over the next 20 days and keep those changes permanently, go download the FREE PDF I put together for you right here: https://pandanationonline.com/freeguidepanda

The familiar surroundings of your bedroom twist and distort, transforming into a dark, steamy boiler room. His right hand gleams in the dim light, razor-sharp blades extending from each finger. Not gonna lie, when the writing staff saw the phrase “energy audit” pop up in the podcast this week, we became very concerned that The Overlap Podcast might now be some sort of digital media arm of the Church of Scientology and that our boys Sid and Keith were now being held on some ocean liner being tested for thetans (the remnants of immortal spiritual beings that have some sort of supernatural residue in humans … or something) and hanging out with John Travolta and Tom Cruise. We are pleased to report back this is not the case, though we do feel compelled to say that we do believe Shelly Miscavige is obviously still alive and has been on one of the Sea Org cruises for … like 17 years now and just doesn't like land and has developed agoraphobia … totally plausible. So, instead of indulging in L. Ron Hubbard's tax dodge … er … religion, we're taking a deep dive into the exciting enclave of energy - how we generate it, how we expend it, how we best distribute it and how Reddy Kilowatt, the mascot designed in 1926 for Alabama Power, might be the most terrifying company mascot of all time (note: we will do three of those things in the podcast this week; one of them is food for thought we will explore further in the future unless that demon power bug murders us in our dreams Freddy Kreuger style). Aligning your energy with your core values, revitalizing your routine, finding ways to develop lucid dreaming to avoid ancient power company mascots trying to unalive you in your sleep … great advice for your everyday life that's practical, applicable and necessary to avoid an untimely end for you and your business. Tune in and turn up this week's Overlap Podcast … and remember, Shelly Miscavige is definitely still alive. Definitely. We would never say anything to the contrary. Ever. So leave us be, David.
Ah, the American Dream: a suburban home with a white picket fence, green grass, and the perfect nuclear family. Until… ding dong! It's the boogeyman! Filmmaker Emily Bennett (Alone With You) joins David and Devin to discuss false utopias, the repercussions of repression, and why you should always face your fears. The Dogs take on Freddy Kreuger once again in the original A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, written and directed by Wes Craven. And then tackle M. Night Shyamalan's classic THE VILLAGE - with a twist (obviously). . 00:05:50 - A Nightmare on Elm Street 00:42:08 - Get to know Emily! 00:50:00 - The Village 01:12:32 - Comparisons 01:22:37 - Bone Reviews . Another actress from the ‘Golden Era' of Hollywood and the film industry! Leslie Hoffman, the notorious Hall Guard who had the nerve to yell at Nancy, “Hey Nancy, where's your hall pass?” This has to be one of the most iconic lines from the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. And to this day, Leslie is still recognized as her part in the movie at conventions worldwide. Leslie shares her experience with me, on deep and personal level, on how she acquired the role in the first place. It still amazes me that Leslie, just a stunt performer, was chosen for this role. Something so simple and yet something that will be forever immortalized. If anyone has the opportunity to star in a film with Robert Englund and be Freddy Kreuger for a brief moment, it's setting the bar for other actors. There's a fun fact in this interview: Leslie Hoffman and Robert Englund are the only two actors in the movie that wore sweaters that had no stripes on the sleeves. Leslie confirmed that! However, it's unfortunate that sweater has somehow “disappeared” from the set. I have an idea (or theory) that Wes Craven himself must have kept that sweater for his own personal vault. Overall, Leslie was a wonderful guest and I wish that I could see her perform in more movies, but she admits that she is retired from acting but she is still doing conventions up in Canada. With that being said, make sure to follow and support her on social media; show her some love because there can only be one hall guard and that is Leslie Hoffman. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/southjerseyhorror/message

Carter Smith is a queer horror icon, even if all his films aren't highlighting explicitly queer relationships. A master of depicting complex male...friendships?, he continues that trend in his new film, THE PASSENGER. And perhaps that instinct got its start watching Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge. Much has been said -- and not all of it in alignment -- about the gay subtext of Freddy's Revenge, and central to that is the performance of Mark Patton as Jesse Walsh, a young man fighting a demon he doesn't understand and can't shake (decades later, Smith would cast Patton in his film SWALLOWED). Then there's his hunky compatriot, Grady. All this and more on today's FEELING SEEN.** THE PASSENGER is out tomorrow On Demand. Also mentioned in this ep: Scream Queen! Everyone should have the freedom to decide what's best for themselves and their families, including when it comes to ending a pregnancy. This decision has dire consequences for individual health and safety, and could have harsh repercussions for other landmark decisions.Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health and independence of all Americans. Even if you live in a state where abortion rights are upheld, access to safe medical procedures shouldn't be determined by location, and it shouldn't be the privilege of a small few.You can help by donating to local abortion funds. In this episode, we dig into the wild world of 900 numbers, and explore why they came about, what made them so appealing, and why they ultimately faded away. Featuring Doug Fraser of the Curious State podcast, 900 number experts Bob Bentz and David Wood, and a surprise guest… Follow the show on Twitter, Facebook, & Reddit. When I was 7 years old, my cousins thought it would be funny to show me Nightmare on Elm Street, the horror film with Freddy Kreuger. I was afraid of the dark and being alone for many years after, with constant nightmare of someone coming to get me. To be honest, these types of fears haunted me for years and were perpetuated by other scary movies I felt pressured to watch in the media. In this episode, I discuss why I don't watch scary, horror or psychologically disturbing films. I discuss how our minds don't know the difference between what we are watching vs what we are in (hence why the porn industry is so big), how our thoughts become our beliefs which become our actions which become our realities and why the scenes from these movies/ shows will last in your subconscious for a lifetime. If you've been realizing that you just feel off after watching these movies/ shows and you haven't been able to quite put it into words, this episode is for you. Share with anyone else who may benefit from ending the addiction to disturbing movies/ shows.
