The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: 5:05pm- Dr. Martin Kulldorff— Former Professor of Medicine at Harvard University and Mass General Brigham—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest editorial for City Journal, “Harvard Tramples the Truth.” Dr. Kulldorff was fired from Harvard University for speaking out against mandatory vaccinations and publicly questioning the validity of widespread lockdowns. He writes: “Almost everyone now realizes that school closures and other lockdowns, were a colossal mistake. Francis Collins has acknowledged his error of singularly focusing on Covid without considering collateral damage to education and non-Covid health outcomes. That's the honest thing to do, and I hope this honesty will reach Harvard. The public deserves it, and academia needs it to restore its credibility. Science cannot survive in a society that does not value truth and strive to discover it. The scientific community will gradually lose public support and slowly disintegrate in such a culture. The pursuit of truth requires academic freedom with open, passionate, and civilized scientific discourse, with zero tolerance for slander, bullying, or cancellation. My hope is that someday, Harvard will find its way back to academic freedom and independence.” You can read the full article here: https://www.city-journal.org/article/harvard-tramples-the-truth 5:30pm- Kevin Tan of Business Insider writes: “A Texas man says he believes anybody else should be president instead of the current Democratic and GOP frontrunners. And he's taking things into his own hands and running a long shot race to prove a point—by changing his name to ‘Literally Anybody Else.'” You can read the full article here: https://www.businessinsider.com/texas-man-named-literally-anybody-else-is-running-for-president-2024-3 5:45pm- In their recent Wall Street Journal editorial, Jonathan A. Lesser and Mark P. Mills write: “Widespread adoption of EVs will require an unprecedented and staggeringly expensive expansion of local electrical grids. This will require a huge increase in the production of electrical transformers, along with more power plants and transmission lines to produce and deliver energy. This overhaul must include upgrading local grid distribution at the roughly 3,000 electric utilities across the country—the wires, poles and transformers that line our streets. There are 60 million to 80 million distribution transformers in neighborhoods, designed for existing loads. Around one million new ones are sold annually, two-thirds of which replace aged-out transformers. That replacement rate isn't close to meeting the EPA's dreams. Millions more—and heavier—transformers will be needed to handle higher power levels and more frequent use, even if many EVs are charged overnight. This will also require replacing many of the existing utility poles to handle new transformers' extra weight.” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/can-we-power-the-epas-ev-fantasy-electrical-grid-energy-vehicles-a786d535?mod=opinion_lead_pos6

Snackpass is the company Tan co-founded with Jamie Marshall while they were students in college. Tan says, “It's a social ordering platform for restaurants, you can skip the line and the wait, it's much more convenient for consumers.” Adding, “we have a social commerce layer where you can get reward points with friends, send gifts to friends, group buy, and see what people are ordering making the experience personalized, social, and fun.” Tan talks about when they got started, they would hand out fliers around campus and immediately got traction with their fellow classmates. He says, “within a few months over eighty percent of the student bodies started using Snackpass and became kind of like a household name.” Adding, “ it became the default way for students to order instead of going and standing at the cash register.” Snackpass started launching multiple campuses and today they are at twenty campuses in multiple states. Tan points out that Snackpass just raised their Series B financing which is going to help expand around cities and beyond the college campus. When asked about delivery and third party, Tan says, delivery will just be an API call and it will be commoditized. This conversation is as much a journey, as it is a movement towards a destination. The destination is an entrepreneurial endeavour that provides proof that no matter what the business model, how simple or complex, unique or commoditised, that engraining purpose firmly at the core of our organisation will bring greater outcomes. And since this one is a for profit business – the proof is that profit follows purpose. This is a fascinating discussion with entrepreneur Kevin Tan, who shares his journey from a promising career in global consulting firm Accenture, on a path of discovering purpose through field work with World Vision, to co-founding a ‘for purpose' organisation that delivers improved outcomes for both staff and customers in the contract cleaning industry.Kevin's perspectives about life, service, purpose and creating meaningful work and for purpose profit are as inspirational and they are informative. If you are seeking your purpose, and how to apply it in your work, this conversation may well be for you.Key out-takes from this episode;- Kevin found that bringing a sense of devotion and purpose to work has led to much greater staff engagement. Instead of talking about their work experience, staff now talk about their purpose experience.- Work should go beyond producing a great service, it can be about having an even greater impact in the world.- Living their purpose as a company by showing their customers that they really cared about them led to a huge increase in retention (up to 97%), in an industry that typically has very low retention rates across contracts.- When you think about purpose as a concept is such a big idea, but when you break it down to an individual level, it's really about living the attributes of someone you'd like to hang out with.- Key themes of Kevin's approach to leadership – be generous, be faithful and do what you'll say you'll do. Do this, and you'll attract good business, good contracts and good staff.- The collective consciousness of the business community is increasing around the benefits of following purposeful models of operating.- If we can get just 6% of small and medium sized businesses to embrace a new way of operating, we'll see a tipping point in cultural change for the good.- You don't need to be CEO to make the brave calls and follow your moral compass- Taking personal responsibility is vital and key to change the way we run our businesses. Everyone can take this personal responsibility for how they lead.-Get in touch with Kevin via any of these points of contact;Kevin's Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevin-tan-241518b/Kevin's business: www.cleanasyougo.com.auAs always, great thanks and appreciation to the team who contributed to bringing Better World Leaders to you;To Brendan Ward for production of all audio recordings and composition and performance of original music throughout each episode. To Cooper and the team at RadioHub studios for technical support and creative guidance during the episodes that are recorded face-to-face. It all started with a crush. Yale student Kevin Tan wanted to gift his crush a smoothie, which led him to the idea for Snackpass: a food app that saves its users time, money, and most importantly, is social. Since launching in 2017, Snackpass reached over 80% penetration on Yale's campus and now has plans to scale to 100 campuses in the next two years. Kevin shares why Snackpass is focused on pick-up over delivery, how the company is transitioning from building a product to building a team, and why the secret to capturing any customer is authenticity.

For our 4th episode, we sat down with pro tennis player and actor (Sleepy Hollow, HGTV), Kevin Tan-Perkins, to talk about why a strong work ethic and being true to yourself is so critical to winning in one's career. We also talked about the value of having personal relationships with people that support your professional goals. And over time, "Kev" has amassed over 50K Followers on IG so he gave us some great insight on how to build a following from scratch, and more importantly, what type of mentality to maintain as you become more popular on social. Last but not least, in the spirit of fitness (since Ryan, Kev, and myself are all highly active athletics), our friends over at Kill Cliff sent us their new all-natural energy drink, “Ignite,” so we figured we’d give it a go on-air. All the flavors were awesome, and KC definitely got us IGNITED! For more on Kev, check him out on IG: @Kevotano

Dr. Kevin Tan writes, "Any scholarly attempt at retracing a history of karate must therefore require a non-insular and less exclusive defi- nitions of terms such as Japanese history, Japanese culture, and martial tradition. This is because any thorough reconstruction of karate's history must inevitably require, as will be shown in this article, the necessary inclusion of a complex interplay of Okinawan, Japanese, Chinese, and Western colonizing discourses, all which play"
