Does your website feel like a warm welcome? If not, this episode is a must-listen. Because branding isn't just about fonts, colors, or messaging–it's about how your clients feel when they land on your digital doorstep. This is a special episode where I sat down with Shay Wheat on her podcast, Creating Powerful Impact. We talked about why the most effective brands start from the inside out. The SOULiD Framework If your brand looks the part but doesn't feel like you, that disconnect shows up everywhere–in your copy, your visuals, and your confidence. That's exactly why we created the SOULiD framework.  It helps uncover your convictions, personality, and purpose, so your website becomes an extension of your most essential self. In this episode, I break down how the process works and why it becomes the foundation for a brand that grows with you. What Hospitality Has to Do With Branding What do restaurants and websites have in common? More than you might think. I grew up in the hospitality industry, and that mindset shapes everything we do at brandiD.  When your clients feel seen, supported, and genuinely cared for, they stick around–and they tell others. In this episode, I talk about how to infuse that same high-touch, high-trust experience you'd expect from a high-end restaurant into your brand, no matter your industry. Enjoy this episode… Soundbytes 3:37 - 3:49 “So the name brandiD: the ID is an identity, but it also stands for ID, like the ID ego and super ego, and it is the part of our personality, according to Freud, that we are born with.” 3:52 - 4:24 “The SOULiD framework is what we do with the majority of our clients…We want to help them, but also need our work to stand out from the many, many millions of other websites that land online. We want to get to the core, the essence, or the soul of that person and make sure it's embedded throughout. Aesthetically, in the copy, in the positioning, the differentiators lie there.” 9:19 - 9:29 “We have to all be so dialed into the people we work with and understand their hopes, their fears, their dreams, when they're feeling vulnerable, when they're feeling overwhelmed.” Quotes “With every client, it's like you also have another case study to see if your framework is still applicable.” “Websites, just like clothing, just like hairstyles, they have trends.” “One thing that sets us apart as a web agency is the service that we provide to our clients. It's one thing that people consistently comment on.” “The way you make clients feel, especially in today's competitive market, can help you be around as a company for the long term.” “You are your biggest differentiator.” Links mentioned in this episode: Connect with brandiD Easy Tips to Adjust your website: https://buildmybrandid.com/website-tweaks/ Personality Quiz: https://content.leadquizzes.com/lp/jqgbMsr00g Ready to elevate your digital presence with a powerful brand or website? He begins with a lively introduction, meeting and greeting attendees, establishing a rapport, and swiftly moving into the session's core message: the importance of embracing digital technology for evangelism, discipleship, and church development. The first significant topic Chris discusses is the assessment of a church's digital health. He emphasizes the importance of knowing where the church stands in the digital realm, mentioning a variety of platforms and metrics crucial for church visibility and accessibility. Chris introduces the idea of a “digital health check,” which audits a church's online presence across platforms like Google, Facebook, and more to ensure accurate and optimized listings that improve discoverability, including compatibility with voice recognition searches using Siri and Alexa. Chris addresses common concerns and questions from the attendees. He provides guidance on managing digital platforms with limited resources and emphasizes the effectiveness of outsourcing to specialized services for tasks like social media management and digital health checks. For instance, if a church doesn't have the bandwidth internally, he advises leveraging services like Church Post to maintain a consistent online presence. Chris concludes by emphasizing the necessity of churches embracing digital transformation, stressing that it is not a change in the church's message but rather an adaptation of the medium. He highlights the potential of these tools to position churches competitively in the digital space, thus maximizing their reach and impact in their communities.

In today's fast-paced digital world, attention spans are shrinking. Long, rambling messages are often skimmed, ignored, or simply lost in the noise. This is especially true on platforms like WhatsApp, where brevity and clarity are key to effective communication. Recently, I had the opportunity to dive deep into this concept through a live case study. While filming a documentary for the British Council on Sustainable Business in Nigeria, I encountered a business owner using WhatsApp to communicate with her customers. Her message was warm and friendly, but it was also lengthy. This sparked an idea: could we make it shorter, punchier, and more effective? The Challenge: Transforming a Good Message into a Great Sales Tool The original message, while well-intentioned, suffered from a common pitfall: it was too long. In a world of endless scrolling, people are less likely to read lengthy paragraphs. Furthermore, the call to action, while present, could have been stronger and more direct. Here's a glimpse of the original message: "Happy Sunday, Fam! We hope you're having a restful and beautiful day. Remember, good food makes every moment better, and we've got you covered! At MeeBest Foods, we sell clean, neatly packaged foodstuffs at affordable prices. We also offer goat meat and cow sharing, ensuring you get fresh, quality meat without stress. Our conversation delved into her signature framework, "The Power of Choice," which empowers leaders to make intentional decisions that significantly impact their teams and customers. Sylvie articulates her passion for fusing customer-centric leadership with effective communication. She reveals how the realization that many candidates exhibit a discrepancy between their perceived and actual performance influenced her career path. This realization led her to examine the nuances of first impressions and unconscious biases, which profoundly affect how individuals and organizations are perceived. Together, we explore how these biases play a role in the customer experience and how leaders can bridge the gap between perception and reality. Our discussion also touched on the critical nature of first impressions in customer relationships and team dynamics. Sylvie illustrates this with vivid scenarios, demonstrating how instant judgments shape our interactions and the narratives we believe. She also introduces her ABCDE framework, which includes Appearance, Behavior, Communication, Digital Presence, and Environment, offering a comprehensive guide for individuals looking to refine how they present themselves in the business world. Episode Breakdown 00:00 - 00:30 - Richard introduces the episode by emphasizing the role of digital platforms in modern recruiting success. 00:31 - 01:30 - He shares a story about a recruiting leader who brought on 45 experienced salespeople in 30 days, underscoring the importance of personal branding for success. 01:31 - 02:30 - Richard discusses the common misconception that personal branding is only useful when things aren't going well. He explains why it's critical at all times. 02:31 - 03:30 - Personal branding isn't just about attracting talent. Richard explains how it fills gaps when you're not in day-to-day communication with recruits, particularly during critical transition periods. 03:31 - 04:30 - Richard shares data: 25-30% of people who accept job offers don't show up for their first day due to counteroffers and other last-minute factors. A strong digital presence helps you stay connected, visible, and relevant, reducing attrition. 09:31 - 10:00 - Conclusion: A strong personal brand isn't just a bonus—it's a critical component of modern recruiting. Stay visible, stay relevant, and use digital platforms to your advantage.
