Models like the Cadillac Fleetwood, Lincoln Continental, and Buick Electra 225 stretched over 18 feet long, offering plush interiors with chrome accents, bench seats, and advanced features for the time. Their long hoods, wide grilles, and tailfins defined the era's bold styling. These cars prioritized comfort, floating down highways with soft suspensions. Gas-guzzling yet glamorous, they symbolized American prosperity and automotive excess. Though impractical today, they remain icons of 1960s luxury and engineering ambition. ----------------------------------------- The 2025 GMC Sierra Denali EV Max Range is a premium electric pickup truck offering an impressive GM-estimated 460 miles of range. From Jeff's newest book, The Language of the Soul: Meeting God in the Longings of our Hearts, Jeff teaches that the longings we experience are places for God to meet us. Jeff walks us through several longings from the book - the longing for home, for friendship, for heaven and for an undivided life. All of us carry longings in our hearts. Joined today by New York Times best-selling author Jeff Guinn. Jeff and I talk about last night's Super Bowl; where he watched it and what he thought of the horrendous “holding” call. Jeff looks back on the first time he saw someone reading his book and what happened that caused him to never approach someone holding his book ever again. He goes on to talk about his incredible new book “ Waco: David Koresh, the Branch Davidians, and A Legacy of Rage”. Jeff shares his initial thoughts of the davidians, why researching this book was so difficult and how he juggled putting it all together. We discuss David Koresh and how a shy, stuttering boy transformed himself into a biblical scholar/leader with a loyal following that were willing to die for what they believed. We talk about the ineptitude of the ATF, all their mistakes and question why they didn't arrest David without any news cameras and fan fare. Jeff opens up about how investing years of his life into such a tragic event gave him nightmares and how he's dealing with that. Hospitality Leaders - Interviews with hotel, event, and food service experts
On this episode of the Hospitality Leaders podcast, I had the opportunity to speak with Jeff Keeley, General Manager at InterContinental Kansas City at The Plaza, about some of the ways he's trying to change the popular perception of the hospitality industry. In days past, there was a stigma of immobility with hospitality jobs, especially hotel positions. Being a dishwasher or a hotel receptionist was thought of as a final destination and there was no ladder to climb if you found yourself in these entry-level roles. Jeff, who himself started as a front desk clerk, is trying to dispel that notion. Especially now in a post-Covid world, the hospitality sector is hurting for mid-level staff, and entry-level hotel jobs may actually be some of the most upwardly mobile positions available right now. That mobility doesn't have to come with an 80-hour per week work rate, either. That's another myth Jeff wants to put to rest. Hospitality can offer a sensible work-life balance and to work in a hotel or restaurant does not mean selling your soul to your job. From Jeff's perspective, everyone has a life outside work and a job should never take its place. It's an outstanding management philosophy and it's helping Jeff to change the narrative around hospitality work. The Be Better Podcast is about helping young adults find new ways to drive their success. And what better way to drive success than doing business? In today's episode of Be Better, Donald is joined by author, consultant, and branding expert Jeff Fromm to discuss the millennial and Gen Z way of doing business. Jeff consults on the intersection of marketing, sustainability, and brand innovation. How did he get here? It might be because he led the first large-scale public study of millennials as consumers. If you're interested, google search “American millennials deciphering,” and it'll pop up) He's since written five books on marketing and consumer-focused trends. Millennials and Gen Z have a bad rep: However, there's not much truth to the notion that young adults are unemployed, broke, and living in their parent's basement. The 2008 recession resulted in a massive unemployment and debt situation among young adults. These macro factors forced a narrative that wasn't true. The Great Resignation, fueled by Covid, caused these myths to resurface. In reality, the hardest-working trend-setters are young, affluent millennials, and Gen Z will be the most educated generation ever. And, believe it or not, a great marketing strategy does not start with insults. Let's look at the hard data: Consumers want to live their values, and the brands that can make it affordable and accessible will gain market share. Concerning younger consumers, use Venn diagrams as a starting point. What do you do well, what do your consumers need, and, most importantly, where do they interconnect? Winning brands have a common thread: they make it affordable and accessible. They have a small premium compared to the cheapest option, but that premium contributes a much larger relative value. Value is more than functional benefits alone - it's also emotional and physical needs. More and more companies today are trying to retain the talent they have. Companies have a built-in advantage if they're willing to meet their workforce halfway. From Jeff's perspective, it's beneficial to join an established company to learn. They have training programs built-in and can provide knowledge. After learning, if you still have the entrepreneurial bug, that's still an option. A result of the 2008 recession is that millennials saw that even if someone was a loyal and dedicated employee, they still might've lost their job. It's been such a joy for me to participate in these amazing conversations with exemplary people. This conversation with Jeff Carreira is one of my favorite podcasts to date. There was a sense, in this extraordinary conversation, that Jeff and I were not just talking about these things together, we were experiencing them together. It's my hope that during this podcast the listener will get an experiential taste of experiencing them too. From Jeff: "To put it simply, I support people to live a spiritually inspired life, free from the constraints of fear, worry and self-doubt, and aligned with their own deepest sense of meaning and purpose. Life has conditioned all of us to be fearful and self-protective. Some of us eventually feel suffocated by the mental and emotional habits that keep us from living a passionate and spontaneously free life. We long to be liberated from the invisible ties that seem to bind us. We know more is possible and we start searching for a life that matches our true potential.I was quite young when my own spiritual search began. At the age of about seven, I began spending time locked in my father's car in our driveway trying to stop my mind from thinking. Somehow, I knew that if I could do that, I would discover something wonderful. But like so many of us, I forgot about my early spiritual aspirations and got swept up in the cultural script of career and relationship. I studied physics, worked as an engineer and got married. Eventually my work as an engineer felt empty, so I earned a graduate degree in education and became a schoolteacher and later a school administrator. By most standards I was pretty successful, and yet I felt empty and existentially unfulfilled. My life took a dramatic turn when I left everything and everyone behind and joined a radical spiritual community. For the next twenty years, I devoted myself entirely to spiritual pursuits. I spent many hours every day meditating, chanting, reading and studying, all in a single pointed pursuit of the ever-elusive goal of enlightenment. During those years in community, I was blessed with many spiritual breakthrough experiences. I was ripped open by dramatic bursts of kundalini energy shooting up from the base of my spine through the top of my head. I spent days in states of conscious awareness that remained steady through all stages of waking and sleeping. I felt a mystical expansion that didn't stop until my body was the size of the entire cosmos. And in the middle of it, I remembered that I had been able to freely will myself into this sense of cosmic consciousness as a young child. In the summer of 2001, during a two-month long retreat, I entered into a shared state of enlightened mind with other participants. This dramatic opening inspired me to create spiritual education programs that guided thousands of individuals through their own journey of spiritual evolution. Four years later, in 2005, and once again while on retreat, I heard a call to expand my teaching work. I started traveling and teaching meditation and spiritual philosophy more extensively throughout the world. Currently, I lead retreats throughout the world and run a teacher training program to develop the teaching capacities of others. I am the founder and lead teacher of The Mystery School for a New Paradigm – a virtual practice and study community that provides guidance and inspiration to a global group of awakening individuals =========================== More on Jeff: http://jeffcarreira.com More on Brian: http://thebigglow.com ========================== This podcast is solely listener supported. From Jeff's website: I was raised in a dying one-industry town smack in the middle of Flyover Country. I came up a Chicago Cubs fan, subsisting on a diet of Hostess fruit pies and Pepsi in glass bottles. I checked out every book in our public library about anywhere other than there. For college, I fled as a refugee to New Orleans where I did a lot of growing up. Luck shone a steadying light my junior year in Scotland, where I learned to drink stout and met my wife. Three children arrived in five years but I proved myself unable to stick to a job. I caromed from stockbroker to bomber navigator to attorney to international consultant to law professor, picking up an assortment of degrees from Syracuse, Georgetown and Harvard along the way. I’ve lived in three foreign countries, been to another 70, and still feel I haven’t seen much. All this in no way—or maybe in every way—qualifies me to write books. I’m writing a trilogy set around the First World War and I’m percolating another seven or eight novels and a dozen short stories, so I don’t fear boredom. I live in Virginia with my wife where I do a little teaching and law on the side. https://jeffreykwalker.com/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tidewater-podcast/support

Jeff Gould (https://www.loopnet.com/brokerdirectory/profile/jeff-gould/sk2zdp6/aboutme) is the founder Lineage Asset Advisors (LAA) (https://lineageasset.com/) a full-service commercial real estate advisory and consulting firm providing customized commercial real estate services to help families make seamless transitions with their properties – from one generation to the next. Lineage collaborates with estate planning advisers to develop and implement portfolio solutions that meet the goals of multiple generations. Their aim is to preserve and enhance family wealth and legacy during difficult life transitions while establishing a culture of respect, peace of mind and financial sustainability. Standout Quotes: * "Like most forms of financial planning, the sooner you plan ahead, the much easier it is to implement and follow through" - [Mike Boyd] * "Even if the family is risk-averse, I think it is really critical for them to understand that the risk of doing nothing may still be higher than the risk of doing something if they plan to keep the assets" – [Jeff Gould] * "I think many families need to stay nimble in the future and really adjust for change" – [Jeff Gould] * "Wealth and wealth transfer doesn't always lead to happiness, in fact in many cases it leads to conflict and challenges and strife among family members, so we want to try to shift that conversation, and that takes effort and planning" – [Jeff Gould] * "Life is generally empty and meaningless, and we have the ability to establish positive and productive meaning in the midst of a world in constant transition" – [Jeff Gould] Key Takeaways: * The ideal scenario would be to involve Jeff early in planning for the transition but the reality is that he is engaged much later when things need to move quickly. * There is a unique skill set that is needed to be a trusted adviser to help the family understand what they have in regards to Real Estate, and develop a plan with that Real Estate called a "Shared Asset Ownership plan" that considers the variables of the next generation. * The 3 phased process includes Discovery, Planning, and Implementation. * Addressing the issue of Deferred Maintenance; the 'Do Nothing Scenario' and the 'Do Something Scenario' * 5 Transition Strategies in Real Estate planning: Communication and Education, Conflict Resolution and Accepting differences, Rediscovering your commercial Real Estate portfolio, Developing a mindful asset transition plan, and Implementing the plan and adjusting for change * Jeff's advice to Real estate entrepreneurs: Creating your estate plan and developing a shared asset ownership plan that aligns with the next generation. * Jeff explains that he helps the family understand that it is a fortunate situation to be carrying on and stewarding the transition of the assets rather than focusing on the personal value of the asset to each family member. * Be respectful to everyone you encounter. Episode Timeline: * [00:49] Jeff Gould and his professional background * [06:06] Do you usually get called in at the time of a transition event in a family or ahead of that time to plan a healthy transition? * [08:37] Jeff gives a general picture of the different categories of clients he works with. * [11:12] What are the particular challenges with the real estate space that create the need for Jeff's specialty, to steward assets in family transition rather than a generic accountant or financial planner? * [16:51] Jeff describes the 3 phased process of his work with families * [24:00] Addressing Deferred Maintenance * [30:50] What would you say is the appetite for innovation in Real Estate? * [35:06] 5 transition strategies in Real Estate planning * [39:44] What advice would you give to a founding generation or Real Estate entrepreneur to best prepare themselves to have a great plan in place? * [43:24] Do you work with any families that are multigenerational into the 3rd, 4th, or 5th generations? * [49:38] From Jeff to his kids *For more episodes go to * BusinessOfFamily.net (https://www.businessoffamily.net/) Sign up for The Business of Family Newsletter at https://www.businessoffamily.net/newsletter (https://www.businessoffamily.net/newsletter) Follow Mike on Twitter @MikeBoyd (https://twitter.com/MikeBoyd) If you feel it's appropriate, I'd so appreciate you taking 30 seconds to Leave a Review on iTunes (http://getpodcast.reviews/id/1525326745), I receive a notification of each review. This podcast episode explores the stories that help us understand our reality, our place in that reality, and how humans both cling to and challenge these same stories. Jeffrey Kripal has been a keeper of many extraordinary stories, and as a professor of religion, he is positioned to question the stories that we believe serve us, but the reality is that we often serve the story. This conversation is anchored in Dr. Kripal's newest book, The Flip, wherein he challenges many of the assumptions of materialist science and posits that the sciences are not wrong, but that they are incomplete and therefore we need a change in our worldview. His arguments are well articulated and well informed by many scientists, including neuroscientists and physicists, who have, as a result of their research into reality, moved away from the materialist worldview into an approach to reality that chips away at many of the assumptions in which many of us have been educated – for example, the fact that we don't really know what matter and consciousness are in the first place. Really. From Jeff's book: A “flip,” writes Jeffrey J. Kripal, is “a reversal of perspective,””a new real,” often born of an extreme, life-changing experience. The Flip is Kripal's ambitious, visionary program for unifying the sciences and the humanities to expand our minds, open our hearts, and negotiate a peaceful resolution to the culture wars. Combining accounts of rationalists' spiritual awakenings and consciousness explorations by philosophers, neuroscientists, and mystics within a framework of history of science and religion, Kripal compellingly signals a path to mending our fractured world. Bio: Jeffrey J. Kripal holds the J. Newton Rayzor Chair in Philosophy and Religious Thought at Rice University, where he chaired the Department of Religion for eight years and helped create the GEM Program, a doctoral concentration in the study of Gnosticism, Esotericism, and Mysticism that is the largest program of its kind in the world. He is the Associate Director of the Center for Theory and Research at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, where he also serves as Chair of the Board. Jeff is the author of numerous books, seven of which are with The University of Chicago Press, including, most recently a memoir-manifesto entitled Secret Body: Erotic and Esoteric Currents in the History of Religions(Chicago, 2017). He has also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Macmillan Handbook Series on Religion (ten volumes, 2015-2016). He specializes in the study of extreme religious states and the re-visioning of a New Comparativism, particularly as both involve putting “the impossible” back on the academic table again. He is presently working on a three-volume study of paranormal currents in the history of religions and the sciences for The University of Chicago Press, collectively entitled The Super Story. http://jeffreyjkripal.com Theme music provided by: http://www.modernnationsmusic.com Band of the week: Chomsky Music page: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/chomsky/5662475 Learn more about this project at: http://www.thesacredspeaks.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesacredspeaks/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/thesacredspeaks Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesacredspeaks/
Ready For Takeoff - Turn Your Aviation Passion Into A Career
From Jeff's website (http://berlincreative.com/aviation/): Jeff Berlin began his creative career chasing models down the streets of New York City… with a camera. They knew he was there, it was cool. He liked this so much he spent five years shooting in Milan and Paris before moving back to NYC to continue his career. Over the years, he’s collaborated with top fashion magazines and brands like Vogue Italia, L’Oreal, British Elle, Estée Lauder, Esquire, Bloomingdale’s, Miss Vogue, Macy’s, Vogue Pelle, Madame Figaro and many others. Recently, Jeff transitioned to motion pictures. He was producer and camera operator on the feature film Three Days in August, which played at multiple film festivals and ran in select theaters nationwide. It’s now available on major streaming platforms. Jeff has both shot and directed an online spot for the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), a fashion brand film for noted designer Norma Kamali, as well as a number of short films and online spots for Sony. His latest film project, Stormchaser, a short with an award-winning director, was shot on the new Sony VENICE motion picture camera and is currently in post production. Jeff is a Sony Artisan of Imagery and an experienced aviator. He is also a published writer and was editor of three national consumer aviation magazines -- Plane and Pilot, Pilot Journal and PilotMag.

From Jeff’s café days at Sin-é in Manhattan’s East Village to the post-punk experimentation that became a major influence on his unfinished follow up to Grace, My Sweetheart the Drunk, we take a look at the individual elements that made up this most unique and idiosyncratic artist and explore the reasons why Jeff Buckley is more popular today than he ever was in his lifetime. For those who have ever wondered what a man might do when forced to choose between watching the playoffs and having sex, Jeff Whitehead answered your question on the Odyssey stage in April 2017 with a story about the time he tried to have his cake and...well, you get the idea. Might have gotten away with it, too, if not for that lousy dog. From Jeff's Odyssey bio: By day, Jeff Whitehead is a restaurant proprietor, volunteer and walking partner for his furry companion. By night and weekend, he transforms in to one of the most dominant recreational soccer goalkeepers of the modern era. In his free time he continually strives towards his goal of mastering irony and sarcasm. This episode was performed and recorded in front of a live audience at The Screening Room on April 6th, 2017, and was curated by Roscoe Mutz. We welcome guest pastor Rev. Philip Zielinski from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City, Ohio. He and host Kip Allen dive into the following questions: From Jeff in Tampa: Tips or ways to help prepare for Sunday Divine service. From Sarah: Preachers often mention that God (or Jesus) is with us in hard times. So how do we tell He is really there? Often, there is the sense of total isolation that surrounds every moment. From Ryan in Atlanta: A friend recently posted on social media, "When we say we’re waiting on God, He’s usually waiting on us." I know this is not what we would teach in Lutheranism, but how would you address this? Send us your questions! Email letstalk@kfuo.org with your questions for our guest pastors.
Jeff Woolwine is a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, living near South Mountain. Since the spring of 2004, Jeff has experienced many UFO sightings and has video taped most of his experiences. He is a man on a mission, having moved to Phoenix several years ago from New York City with the intent of trying to solve the ongoing mystery of the Phoenix Lights. In this interview will cover Jeff's background, his research efforts, his experiences with the media in Phoenix, his recent sightings, and what Jeff thinks is behind these repeated appearances of UFOs in the Phoenix area. From Jeff," I have been watching the Phoenix Lights since June 2004. I have determined that not only are the lights here, but that they appear to be tracked by the government. I have done several TV News interviews with Phoenix TV stations talking about flares and the lights. I have also found evidence that people living in this are 1500 years ago saw the lights as well. There are drawings all over Phoenix's South Mountain that show the lights and the geo-magnetic lines that are associated with fault lines, which may be used by the UFOs to absorb energy to power themselves - sort of like a gas station for UFOs. I have studied UFOs for years. I am out to prove that they are here and have never left us. Thousands of years ago, people left hieroglyphics and petroglyphs and documents such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and parts of the Bible showing evidence of UFOs and ETs. It seems like every time UFOs show up, something happens to the Earth. In my opinion, things are going to change our way of life very soon, and that is why the UFOs are here more than ever - to watch before and after". Jeff continues to capture videos of UFOs near South Mountain and is investigating the apparent connection between the UFOs he sees and the ancient petroglyphs that cover the rocks on South Mountain.
