From the frozen east of Canada, a single man flies a banner in the chilly province of Quebec. The flag shows the hybrid symbol of Phyrexia and Mirrodin as one. Emmanuel, aka MunsuLight, and I chat about his budget brew of Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden that focuses on using Living Weapon and For Mirrodin! cards to beat down the opponent through a hybrid of creature token and equipment value. We then discuss budget brewing, how newer frame treatments allow us to bling out our decks, the numerous new Boros cards that make our decks go brrrrr and finish with Pokemon Nuzlocke talk. Come join in the fun! You can find MunsuLight on Twitter and his Jor Kadeen deck on Moxfield.

Overthinking MTG: a Closer Look at Individual Cards

Boros planeswalkers have a bad reputation of being boring aggro/equipment filler that don't really give your gameplan a significant boost when they hit the battlefield. I've heard people writing off Nahiri, the Unforgiving as just another Boros planeswalker, and I could not disagree more with that assessment. Compleated Nahiri can take advantage of a filled graveyard by not only reanimating creatures, but also equipment with Living Weapon or For Mirrodin! As a result, this Nahiri can work as a top-end recursive threat in a cheap aggro strategy while also functioning as a combo enabler in midrange decks. Overthinking MTG is a podcast where our host, HamHocks42, takes a look at a random card from Magic: the Gathering and talks about it for a while. Often, though, he ends up yammering about whatever's on the top of his mind that the card reminds him of and a half hours passes and it turns out all he's done is share his thoughts on recent news related to Commander, Magic: the Gathering Arena, Modern, Pioneer, Standard, or humorous anecdotes from his kitchen table jank days. Today, we're talking about Baltimore's Trapped Under Ice, the most important Hardcore band of the 21st Century this side of Terror. But first, current events! The Vein, Candy, Regulate, and Living Weapon tour. A Place For Owls. The Arrival Note. Excide. Callous Daoboys world takeover and Mike Patton comps. Camping In Alaska. The road return of Parasitic Twins. Who Decides. The Syracuse Hardcore Revival? Spite House. The Berries. Homework for the Hardlore Disharmony/Rust deep dive. TUI moved mountains in Hardcore, all but single-handedly shifting the vibe of the culture and genre. Then, in the wake of that, their members went on to shift the culture again via new projects. At the end of the day, TUI and their members are pretty impossible to disentangle from Hardcore as it currently stands, and their entire discography (even and maybe especially Heatwave) should be regarded for contributing massively to the genre in a way that is impossible to erase. Fun times.

Marvel's mystical Kung Fu crime fighter takes center stage in his own ongoing series. First thing on-tap? Rescuing Detective Colleen Wing! Iron Man guest stars, (and dukes it out with Iron Fist.) Power Man and Iron Fist (1978-1986) #50 https://www.comixology.com/Power-Man-and-Iron-Fist-1978-1986-50/digital-comic/253935 Absolved of the crimes that landed him in Seagate Penitentiary, Luke Cage celebrates at the penthouse suite of his lawyer. While there, Cage reflects on his past; Power Man’s origins revealed! However, this reverie is disturbed when criminals Stiletto and Discus crash the party! Immortal Iron Fist (2006-2009) #1 https://www.comixology.com/Immortal-Iron-Fist-2006-2009-1/digital-comic/1605 The Last Iron Fist Story - Part 1 Many years ago, in the mystical city of Kun Lun, young Danny Rand stared at a suit behind glass -- the garb of the Immortal Iron Fist- -- and knew that he was destined to wear it. But where did this costume come from? Why did it wait for Danny all those years like a shadow of his future? The answer to those questions will stun both him and his readers, as Danny Rand leaps from the pages of his breakout hit in DAREDEVIL to his own series - a history-spanning kung-fu epic that will shatter every perception of what it means to be the Immortal Iron Fist! Brought to you by top-ten writer Ed Brubaker and breakout talent Matt Fraction (Punisher War Journal), with action-packed art by David Aja (Daredevil, Giant-Size Wolverine).
