Dialogue is used for more than just simple speech, it moves the story forward, it indicates what characters want, what they feel, what they want others to feel and more. But it's used a bit differently across different media. Comics have their own particular ways of doing things and it's quite interesting! We thank Banes for coming up with this topic! In pure prose the world is all relayed in text so dialogue is king there, characters can talk and talk forever and everything can be relayed through their speech if the author wants. Radio plays are much like prose, but actors help out with their performances, SFX has a role, and time is a factor. Plays are a different thing, settings, scenes and props are limited so a LOT of work has to be taken up by the dialogue, but it's all governed by linear, limited time, so once something is said it's gone, you can't linger on it or go back over it, so it has to do its job in the moment (this isn't a disadvantage though), but the actors can do all the work of showing expressions, tone, emotions, humour, physicality and many other things. Movies, TV, and games are different again, they're also limited by time (though you can go back if you like), the actors can do a lot of the work and massive amounts of work can be done with the visuals. Lastly we have comics where like prose they are not limited by linear time, and like film visuals can do a huge amount of the work. Dialogue in comics can work very well when there's a symbiosis between the visuals and what is written in the speech bubbles. Like film you can offload a lot of work of the dialogue to the visuals. When I do a page I write out what the text should be but I don't finalise it till I have the page art done, though I know what the characters need to say and how the story should go. When the page is done then I whittle down the text to make it work with the visuals, so a character might just say a single word, but because of the art it can be like a full paragraph of meaning. When I work with a pre-written script like in Bottomless waitress or The Key of Dreams I can't change the dialogue so I make sure the way I draw the scene and the characters delivering it enhances what's said and even helps it say much much more. I also letter things in such a way that it tweaks the delivery of the dialogue, so the characters are “acting” it out in a specific way, like giving each sentence its own bubble and placing them in specific ways, closer together or massively spread out, making them different sizes, colours, or shapes etc. How do you approach dialogue in comics? And how do you prefer to see it as a reader? Next week we're tacking “endings”, mainly when fans or IP owners demand an author get around to ending their work and suggest other to take over that role. This week Gunwallace has given us a musical theme inspired by Stiletto - The coolest of the coo. Step into the warm, cozy, underground lounge and sip an espresso martini. The bass thrumbs a tune out of dark wood, the piano does the tango, the guitar floats on a sunny, serene pool, and the percussion sneaks into a corner to be alone and snuggle. *Skip the Foreplay- 12:00 (this is a guesstimation due to ad placement) In June 2013, a quiet Houston luxury condominium became the scene of one of the most shocking and bizarre murders in Texas history. Dr. Stefan Andersson, a well respected Swedish scientist and researcher, was found dead- killed with a weapon no one could have imagined: a stiletto heel. As investigators pieced together the bloody scene, the media seized on the sensational nickname "The Stiletto Killer", and the courtroom became a battle over love, jealousy, and self-defense. In this episode Melissa try's to unravel the relationship that turned deadly, examine the evidence, and explore how a single night ended in a crime that would captivate the world.
Join Daniel and Melissa for the unfiltered, unedited, and unhinged discussion on this case. These are the conversations we used to have after we hit stop. Only now we keep recording. Listen at your own risk!

The Chime in the Slime, the Floozy in the Jacuzzi, the Stiletto in the Ghetto. These are just a few of the dubious nicknames Dubliners have given to certain notorious landmarks that have left an impression over the years. And in 2024, the Dublin Portal – dubbed The Eye in the Stye - joined the ranks of the headline-generating monuments that have caused tongues to wag on the capital's main thoroughfare. Also insgesamt 40 - pro Spieler oder Spielerin natürlich. Was suchen wir? Ich sag es dir! Es ist: das Kartenspiel Ligretto.

Burlesque dancer and horror movie podcaster Noelle, known professionally as Stiletto Thunderkiss, joins Brandon Bombay this week to talk about one of the most fun horror/action movies of all-time, 'From Dusk Till Dawn.' They start things off by talking about skeezy strip clubs reminiscent of the Titty Twister depicted in the film, and Noelle recalls a time when she used to cause trouble while working at a club frequented by bikers. Then the two dive into how the tone-shifting genre movie is elevated by great performances including a surprisingly subdued Harvey Keitel, and a movie-star making role from George Clooney. Naturally, that leads to discussing how smolderingly hot Clooney, Juliette Lewis, and Salma Hayek are in their performances. Noelle offers some insight into Hayek's iconic dance, and tells about a time a customer made a peculiar request that was reminiscent of that sultry dance. All that plus plenty of horror talk, and other hilarious stories on this special Spooky Sleazon episode.

Also insgesamt 40 - pro Spieler oder Spielerin natürlich. Was suchen wir? Ich sag es dir! Es ist: Das Kartenspiel Ligretto.

Found stabbed 43 times in her home, suspicions fell on her Italian associates Joe Maganetti and Michael Gudas. The brutality suggested the involvement of foreign criminal elements, possibly by the notorious Black Hand. Italian national Vincenzo Dagostino emerged as a suspect, allegedly ordering her death for rejecting his advances and knowing too much about Mafia activities. As the investigation intensified, the shadows of conspiracy grew darker, leaving Jean Morris's death a chilling tale of crime and secrets.Join Holly & Matthew as they begin their journey into the secrets of L'Onorata Societa - the Honored Society. Welcome to Episode 173! Just like Season 5 of Painted Trash is heating up, so is the awards season for film-making with the Academy Award Nominations being announced recently. While there certainly were plenty or expected announcements, there certainly were some surprises, just like there always is.This week, The Boys are sitting down and chatting about who wasn't nominated; and boy oh boy to people have some thoughts and feelings on a few of the names missing from the noms. They call those "snubs" and as you might expect, Casey & Mark have some thoughts and feelings about the snubbery and the controversy surrounding the butt-hurt feelings all over the social-meeds. Painted Trash listeners, callers, readers, and, obviously, the writers (maybe even a couple of viewers) are well-versed in the happenings but Mark & Casey are gonna lean in to this conversation -- and not just the two folks are worked up about. But first, kicking things off, The Boys are discussing an outing to celebrate a birthday guy this week and Casey is spilling the tea on himself and, kids, it is layered, self-effacing trouble. Later, Trash talk topics include Stiletto's fall to her knees, Republican border trash, a historic, on-brand artifact up for auction in the UK, and exclusive tea on the lawsuit against our Queen (of pop)! All that and recommendations too!You don't wanna miss this one! The colors are out and they're glowing bright. So getcha some port vintage, make sure that diaper is clean and empty, and pull up a seat to the table with your GBFFs. it's time to Paint!=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Let The Boys of Painted Trash know your thoughts on this week's topics and episode! Ana Trujillo was woman about town, mad for the boys and the attention. However, she also had an extremely dark side to her, a side that came out after e night of heavy drinking and she had a stiletto in her hand.
