Diane chats with LIZ MERIWETHER and KIM ROSENSTOCK, Exec Producers of FX/Hulu's DYING FOR SEX, starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate. Andy and Diane catch up on June TV watches & FYC event fun!
The Stories — "I dyed the bottom of it Manic Panic raspberry-red. I had a belly button pierce. I wore a lot of midriffs. I was a kind of Jewish Shakira, trying to have some influence from Erykah Badu or something, but I was not cool in that way at all.” “I really wanted to be in that movie. I just love Sofia Coppola so much. At the time I didn't have a child. I didn't know much about mothering, and because the writing was so good, I think I knew what to do.” “I want Ida to know that the world is a field of relations. It's cause and effect. Things don't come from nowhere. People don't come from nowhere. Everybody has a heart. It means that she has the ultimate safety in me and in Ben, my husband.”The Backstory — “When I started doing improv and excelled, it was like realizing that you could run really fast or something.” “[SNL] was a necessary opportunity for me to take. I saw a lot in myself that I didn't expect to see. Though challenging, it completely pointed me in the direction of my own natural success.”Wisdom Rains — "Every time we love a piece of art, that's our achievement. The original creation is the achievement of the artist and the people who may have helped them, or made them feel encouraged or inspired… the beauty and offerings of their world at that time.”On Inspo — "When something is ready to be expressed outside of my personal life, there tends to be no hesitation in terms of either putting it in standup or putting it on the page.”On playing the best friend in both It Ends With Us and Dying for Sex — “Other than me playing them, I think it's totally two different pieces of work, two different writers… totally different. I'm often cast as people who are 'the funny person,' but in Dying for Sex, what was offered to me was such an incredible combination of character traits.”On Dying for Sex — “It was a real moment in understanding my own self-defined legitimacy… backed up by Liz Meriwether and Kim Rosenstock writing it. They're so incredible. I thought, Michelle wants me to be here, and she sees me. She's not like seeing hope for what I will be. She's watching my work. She's connecting with me. We're glad we're here. It felt so good. I felt really enrobed in my character.”On her latest book, Lifeform — “I'd found it really hard to write anything that felt like it could breathe and progress. I found it hard to say something interesting, and that wasn't just me having a tiny little shit fit. That's cruel to say about myself, I know, but sometimes it's just that way. Then, in the summer of 2023, my daughter was two-and-a-half, and I could suddenly just catch a wave.”What Else — “I really want to write another kid's book, not a Marcel book, but another picture book. And I'm writing a screenplay right now. I would also like to write a theater piece for myself. There's always a lot that I'm trying to do all at once, in small doses, and then something will overtake everything else.” At The Sea, an upcoming film with Amy Adams.Obsixed — A collection of Jenny Slate's current lifestyle obsessions.Discover more + Shop the podcast:Dying For Sex on HuluIt Ends With Us on NetflixLifeform by Jenny Slate Little Weirds by Jenny SlateAbout The House by Ron Slate + Jenny SlateMarcel the Shell with Shoes On: Things About Me by Jenny Slate + Dean Fleischer Camp Marcel the Shell: The Most Surprised I've Ever Been by Jenny Slate + Dean Fleischer Camp Chani Nicholas and the Chani AppCaron Callahan Carissa ShirtCaron Callahan Lila SkirtTulsi Rose Tea Discover the episode and more on storyandrain.comfollow @storyandraintalks and @storyandrain on Instagram follow @storyandraintalks and @storyandrain on Threadsall about the host

Theory: New Girl is actually a show about breakups. This week we dive in to all the relationships, breakups, and make-ups that the storylines of New Girl were often built around. We mostly focus on Jess + Nick and Cece + Schmidt, plus the other relationships of all four characters, and Erin pulls out her marriage and family therapist education to look at these relationships from a psychological standpoint. We also wonder if Jess and Nick were intended to be end game from the beginning, and if Liz Meriwether would ever want to be a guest on our show. This week we're talking teachers and tech startups. The downfall of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has inspired books, podcasts, and now the hit limited series “The Dropout.” Showrunner Liz Meriwether (“New Girl”) admits she was surprised when Hulu asked her to pitch her vision for the project. “I was a playwright before I was a screenwriter, and maybe they had some belief in my ability to do something besides write sitcoms. I really don't know why they came to me. And in fact, when they called me, I was like, ‘really?'”
Welcome to another episode of OTTplay Now You Know , one podcast that talks about lesser-known trivia, facts and even anecdotes of popular films and shows. I'm your host Nikhil. The new mini-series starring Amanda Seyfried and Naveen Andrews is about the real-life story of disgraced biotechnology entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes and her health technology company, Theranos. It delves into the rise and fall of the fraudulent entrepreneur who established the company at the age of just 19. The series stars Amanda Seyfried as the lead, while Naveen Andrews plays the role of Sunny Balwani, the former President of Theranos. Amanda Seyfried who plays the lead role of Elizabeth Holmes and Naveen Andrews who plays Sunny Balwani are very close in age to the real characters. However, the opening scenes featuring a teenage Elizabeth Holmes is a little out of place as a 35-year old Seyfried portrays both the younger and older versions of Holmes. The age gap is not as obvious for Naveen Andrews for his character. To essay the role of Sunny Balwani, actor Naveen Andrews wore prosthetics and added nearly 12 kgs to his body weight.Saturday Night Live star Kate Mckinnon was originally cast as Elizabeth Holmes until she dropped out in early 2021.Amanda Seyfried told the Entertainment Weekly that she had apprehensions about imitating Elizabeth Holmes deep voice, which, ironically, some believed was fake. She was worried that it would prove to be unhealthy for her vocal cords. However, her voice coach reassured her that she need not worry about any health issues. In an interview actor, Naveen Andrews admitted that he learned to adapt on set regarding last-minute changes to the script. He added that he was not very enthusiastic about the last-minute changes made by writer Liz Meriwether, but his younger co-star Amanda Seyfried encouraged him to be more open about the idea. Something which he says he is thankful for. If you haven't watched this mini- series yet, then do so its streaming on Disney + HotstarWell that's the OTTplay Now You Know for todays episode, until the next podcast its your host Nikhil signing outAaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poocho

Also the co-host of Your Case for Love, the Podcast. Liz Meriwether: 0:35 Hi, I'm Liz Meriwether, Life coach, Psychotherapist, and Co-host of Your Case for Love Podcast. Tony Dee: 0:42 Welcome to Your Case for Love. And welcome to episode 10. The first episode in over a year, this is after I had paused to write the book, Your Case for Love. Liz Meriwether: 0:54 Tell that story though, because that was life altering. George Floyd and all that fell out from that. Tony Dee: 1:03 Yeah, it was. It really altered my life. It switched me from one track to this track. It was because I really felt that people… I hear people say, you can't define love, there's no definition. Love is just what people think it is and so on. I have to beg to differ because I saw this for myself in a different light. 01:33 When George Floyd happened, when the event happened, I realized right at that point that, and I cried for 3 weeks or more. It was just uncontrollable. I couldn't put out a podcast because of that. I realized at that point that people need to know love on a general basis. Just as though you understand what the word ‘the' means. Love needs to be understood just as well. So, and the podcast was called “Love Creativity” back then. 02:06 So, Love Creativity Podcast has now transitioned to Your Case for Love Podcast. And Your Case for Love exists to demonstrate that kind of love I'm talking about, “how people can sustain love with compassion?” It should come from inside the home to outside, to the world as a whole. 02:30 Looking at the core, we really need to be working towards world peace starts with people having compassionate relationships with each other, on a one on one basis, like with your neighbor, your colleague, or stranger at the grocery store. Some people even believe, though, sad to say, that it's okay to have a relationship that thrives on fighting and arguing with each other, but. Liz Meriwether: 02:55 In this week's podcast episode, we'll talk about one of the fundamentals of a Healthy Relationship and that's the whole subject of personality. If your personality type isn't a match for your partners, it could be over before it really gets started. Visit the site to continue.
